Brielle's POV
“Zane!” Lucien's voice thundered in the hospital as he stormed in. Zane was restrained to a bed, the look he had scared me at first glance. “What is wrong with you?” “Alpha,” A doctor stopped Lucien from moving further. “Your brother appears to be suffering some sort of mental breakdown. So if you don't mind, we will need you to take it easy on him,” “Breakdown?” Lucien reacted. “What's happening to my brother?” He asked the doctors. Their faces explained enough that they had no idea what was wrong with him. “Zane,” I called out softly. He responded to my voice by turning his gaze to me, his eyes were blood red and teary. It carried a mix of emotions that I couldn't describe. Pain, anger, fear, sadness. All of them bubbled inside of him and it hurt me to see him like that. “Just give us time to work,” The doctor ushered us to the waiting room. Lucien was unsettled, looking over his shoulders to his brother. I could feel how worried he was and it was an overwhelming sensation because I was worried as well. “We are going to administer a sedative to help him calm down but I suggest you investigate what triggered him,” “Elaborate doctor,” Lucien demanded with a cold look. “He didn't just react, his wolf did as well,” The doctor responded swiftly. “Something that was burnt into his subconscious came bubbling up. Fear, trauma but something,” “Okay,” Lucien exhaled. “The sooner he is normal, the faster we will know the trigger,” “I will get to work,” The doctor said before stepping away. I sat beside him, feeling how uneasy he was as he held his head up with both hands. My fingers twitched as I hesitated to reach him. I was afraid of the emotion he might let out from my physical contact. Just before my hands could reach him, he leaned closer. Gently, I caressed his head and let out a deep sigh. “This is a lot,” he muttered as he relaxed on my shoulders. I looked out the window and noticed that it was already dawn and the sun was coming up. “We will figure this out together, I promise,” I said and he inhaled deeply. I could feel his breath moving on my neck, the tingling sensation was one that crumbled my composure. “I can't lose another person,” He said. I turned to see a heavy look in his eyes, he was on edge. “You won't,” His gaze was fixated on my lips, leaning closer with every intense second. Closer till our lips collided. I kissed him deeply, my eyes shut as I felt my heart go ablaze from the storming feeling. “Erm..” A fake cough interrupted. “Angelina? Why are you up?” Lucien asked warmly. “You are supposed to be resting. I didn't need you freaking out as well,” “Is it true?” She inquired, her voice trembling with her hands. “They said Zane tried to commit suicide,” “The doctors are with him, they said he is going to be fine,” He replied. “Thank God,” She sighed in relief. Her focus turned to me and the smile she had on suddenly blew away. She noticed the intense hate in my eyes, the disgust I felt while watching her. “Let's take you back to your room,” Lucien insisted. He helped her back to her wardroom while I waited in the visitors area. I couldn't shake off Romero's words, everything began to make sense, everything aligned to his point but everyone was too blind to see it. “Miss,” A voice cut through my thoughts. I raised my head that was bowed over my legs to see the cutest eyes from a little girl. “Why do you look sad, miss?” “I'm not sad,” I smiled. I composed myself, dumping the heaviness in my chest to respond to her better. “I am just in need of some sleep. What about you? You seem troubled,” “My mum is in theater B with my brother but I can't find my way there,” she said, her eyes tearing up gradually. The reflection made her gaze as glassy as ice. “Can you help me?” “Uh…” I looked around, seeking assistance from anyone around but the hospital was choked up with activities. Even the securities had their hands full. I noticed a minimap by the nurse's desk and could spot the directions to her mother's location. “I will take you,” I uttered. I took her hand and took the route I had taken note of. “You are pretty,” The little girl remarked and a smile beamed on my face subconsciously. “You also have a really nice smile,” “Thank you, you are pretty as well. I guess you take after your mother,” I said as we made a turn to the hallway of the other side of the hospital. “No, I'm more of a daddy's girl,” she replied. I was surprised at how smooth and fluent she spoke, it was odd for a girl her age. “Why is your brother in the hospital? Is she okay?” I asked, satisfying my curiosity. “No, daddy brought him,” she began leaping and humming with excitement as we drew closer to the area. “Mummy is with him, keeping him safe until I return,” “What?” I halted and suddenly an eerie wind blew by. I noticed that I couldn't pick up any scent, none at all. “Why is your mum keeping him safe? Is she in danger?” “Of course not, daddy will never hurt us,” She replied with a tone that had me unsettled. “He might not be out real daddy but he is still my daddy,” “Little girl,” I muttered, looking around and realized that there was no one around that ward section. The entire area was deserted and I didn't notice that sooner because I was distracted by my conversation with her. “Who are you?” “Daddy's girl,” she answered with a smirk, her grip on my hand tightening ridiculously. “Gorim,” A familiar voice echoed in the hall, causing her to pull her hand of mine swiftly. “Don't hurt my guest,” His voice was accompanied by impending footsteps that made me shiver with fear. I couldn't breathe, the air appeared to be sucked from the room by his presence. I was quaking uncontrollably, finding strength and will to move but I had neither. “How… not possible,” I stuttered. “It is good to see you again, baby girl,” Chase said with a smile as he stood before me. His broad shoulders caused a shadow that covered the whole room. “I brought her to you, daddy,” The little girl said with a satisfactory smile. “I told you not to call me that,” he grunted with a heart racing voice that caused the girl to gasp in fright. “Go meet your mother, I need time with my wife,” The girl hurried away, leaving me face to face with the demon I had been running from. He waited for her to leave before he turned to me with a smirk, “Come my Luna, there is much to discuss,”Lucien's POV “Why did you get out of your room?” I helped her lay back down. Her hands were cold as ice as she shivered uncontrollably. “It seems like you are coming up with a fever. It might be your body reacting to the silver that was once in it,” “Nice,” she scoffed. “An alpha and a caregiver, you are full of surprises. I wonder what else you have in store,” She added with a smile that lightened the mood. “That's pretty much all the gifts I have. And why did you even step out of your room?” “I heard how chaotic it was, so I decided to check it out,” She answered softly. There was no fire in her, it was like she had lost her purpose, her hope. “Rest,” I patted her down. I looked around the room, trying to avoid direct eye contact because of the allegations that I couldn't shake off my mind. I wondered what if, just if they were right. I couldn't tell, I couldn't assume that my oldest friend, the twin of my beloved, would murder her sister. I stepped out after tucking her in,

Lucien's POV She wouldn't leave his side, his blood all over her outfit as they bagged up the body and placed it in the ambulance. The loud siren sound filled the area and the abandoned company and woods were marked as a crime scene. Since the incident, Zane has been nowhere to be found.Forensics and detectives filled the area soon enough. I was proud that they were using the budget allocated for great use. The law enforcement department took the highest budget that year. A necessary upgrade to ensure peace during this Chase fiasco. “You might want to see this, Alpha,” The Inspector said to me as I waited outside the crime scene. I hesitated to follow her into the warehouse. I didn't want to leave Brielle in such a condition. She still looked shaken, her hands shivered in the blanket and I could feel her fear through our mate bond. “Do I have to come along?” I replied. “The evidence unit is yet to bag them, so it's best you come see them now because they can't be moved,” She said
Lucien's POV “Where is she?” No one could answer my question. Law enforcement had begun going through security footage and interrogating hospital personnel and staff. “I'm sorry brother,” Zane approached me. “I should have known something was wrong. I thought maybe she needed space and I didn't see what was coming next,” I exhaled deeply, letting out the frustration through my breath. “No, it's no one's fault. We are going to get her back,” “Chase might already have her,” He stated the fear that was clearly on both our minds. I suspected it might be him but I remained optimistic, hoping for the best.“Then I will get her back,” I responded. My expression was as cold as the chills that ran through my veins. “I don't care about who but I am certain that I'm not going to let her be anyone's captive. Are you, brother?”The anger in his eyes was visible and he was still going through a lot of pain from his injuries. But that wouldn't stop him, “I will die before I let anything ha
Brielle's POV “You need help, Romero. I can give it to you, I can help,” I muttered out of fear, I couldn't help but quake as he got even nearer. “Help? What do you think I am?” He replied with a distorted expression. The smile on his face sent chills up my spine. “No, I don't need help. I am the one helping alright,” “Just let me go please,” “Stop begging!” He thundered angrily. Stretched out his hands, trying to reach me. “I didn't kidnap you, I just needed to show you the evidence I had gathered so far. I don't want to hurt you,” I was careful, I didn't know the words that might trigger him and I wanted to use that moment to my advantage. “Okay, show me what you brought me here for,” “Alright,” He exhaled heavily with a soft laugh. “I almost thought you were like the others. Come,” He beckoned on me, I drew closer cautiously. Trying to hide the fear that was tearing through my heart. “This is what I'm talking about,” He pulled out a photo that had some sides worn out.
Brielle's POV “Walk out with me slowly,” He whispered, hoarsely. “Don't try anything smart with me girl,I'm not in the mood,” “Kidnapping? Again, really?” I voiced to myself as I walked beside him to the exit. He looked baffled, uncomfortably on edge as he stood close to me. “Yo, kitten!” Zane's voice erupted behind me. “Where do you think you are going? We need to get back inside, brainstorming and all,” “Be natural,” Romero muttered quietly. I turned to see a concerned expression on Zane's face as he held onto the wound by his side. He really looked beat and with Romero history with substances, I knew he would kill Zane out of desperation. That wasn't an outcome I can live with. “I just wanted some air, that's all,” I replied to him with a smile. Romero walked ahead a few paces, far enough to avoid suspicion but close enough to act. “The last time you needed air, you got kidnapped. That's not happening, get back in the room,” He shot back. “Please, Zane,” I said softly, l
