LOGINBrielle's POV
“You need help, Romero. I can give it to you, I can help,” I muttered out of fear, I couldn't help but quake as he got even nearer. “Help? What do you think I am?” He replied with a distorted expression. The smile on his face sent chills up my spine. “No, I don't need help. I am the one helping alright,” “Just let me go please,” “Stop begging!” He thundered angrily. Stretched out his hands, trying to reach me. “I didn't kidnap you, I just needed to show you the evidence I had gathered so far. I don't want to hurt you,” I was careful, I didn't know the words that might trigger him and I wanted to use that moment to my advantage. “Okay, show me what you brought me here for,” “Alright,” He exhaled heavily with a soft laugh. “I almost thought you were like the others. Come,” He beckoned on me, I drew closer cautiously. Trying to hide the fear that was tearing through my heart. “This is what I'm talking about,” He pulled out a photo that had some sides worn out. “I got this photo from Gracia, it was on her corpse when she was found,” “Wait, Gracia Al-Ghul is dead?” My look conveyed the surprise I had. “I thought she was far away from all these,” “Something or someone pulled her back. She was killed in Torero pack a few weeks ago,” He answered as he pulled out another file. “The person behind this helped me escape my Asylum. I am not crazy,” I couldn't shake off the sincerity in his eyes. He was frightened but yet I could still feel the honesty in his voice, “You think you are being framed?” “I don't think so. I know it,” He gasped as he fell back to the chair. “I somehow arrive at the destination moments after their death. My path is cleared, trying to place me at the point the exact time they died,” “Hiding in an abandoned warehouse doesn't help your case,” I said. “It just makes you look guilty,” “But you do believe me?” He stood from the chair and began approaching me carefully, studying my look keenly. “You believe that I'm not guilty,” “Honestly,” I swallowed hard before I continued. “I don't know what to believe. I don't know anything for certain but I do know that a lot of what you are saying makes sense,” “You know the body? The one Lucien found on the road,” He rambled as he began scattering through hips of files on the table. “The… one that just laid there,” “The first royal that turned up dead,” I said. “Yes! That one, he wasn't in our club but his son wanted to join until the father stopped him,” Romero responded as he continued looking through the files, the rustling sound of the paper echoed in the entire room. “There it is!” He called. “What is?” I inquired in a soft whisper, my curiosity pushing aside my fear gradually. “His autopsy report. He was poisoned,” “Okay? What does that mean?” “Its wild mistletoe. He had to be taking it regularly for it to kill him,” He answered swiftly as he passed along a photo of a wild mistletoe and a certain deja vu hit me. “The real culprit is someone he trusts, someone that's like family for him to eat something handed to him,” “I have seen this plant somewhere,” I muttered softly to myself. “What's that?” “I know the plant. I have seen it somewhere recently in this pack but I don't know where,” I answered as I tried to recollect. It became a nagging unpleasant feeling because I couldn't control the urge. I really wanted to know. “The Intel I have on you says you don't leave the mansion often, so there might be a good place to check,” He suggested as he tried arranging the messed up table. “The mansion was invaded, an alpha tried to kill me,” I took a deep long breath. Escaping death's grip had started becoming more of a habit. “Deception,” His face looked troubled. “What's wrong?” I asked. “An alpha from Chase tried to kill you, but didn't. Why?” His response had me stunned because I had no clear answer. “Why am I not dead?” I tried to get a clearer view of his question. “Yes, why aren't you dead?” He repeated with a firm look “They took down Zane and the pack's elite squad without breaking a sweat but yet after breaking through the mansion defenses, couldn't even harm a hair in your head,” “Zane was…” I was about to complete my statement when his point began to clear up the fog in my mind. “I was a distraction. He could have easily taken Zane down again and made his way to me but he didn't,” “How were you a distraction?” He asked, looking like he already had the answer. “To pull Lucien out,” I exhaled, my hands trembling as my thoughts went further. My body had fallen into a full panic mode because whoever it was, they had been manipulating everything from the start. “They used your mate's connection with Lucien to bring him out of the hospital,” Romero said as he pulled out another file. “But why?” “Angelina is fine, I saw her. That means it wasn't to finish the job,” The confusion had begun to set in slowly. “It has to be for a reason. I feel like I know it but…” “You don't want to believe it,” He completed my sentence. “You don't want to believe that the enemy was right in front of you. You don't want to believe that blood can kill blood, family kill family,” “This is insane,” I dropped the file in my hand subconsciously. My legs began to pace in the same rhythm with my heart. “What you are implying is far worse,” “Oh yes,” he replied, grinning from ear to ear. “I know what I'm saying and I know that's what your instinct is telling you,” “It can't be!” I blurted, putting a voice to the feelings scorching my insides. “Such evil can't exist,” “Then why are you hurt by just the thought of it?” His question froze me instantly. “The thought of killing a person that shared an existence with you, the thought of a twin killing her twin.” “It can't be her,” I scoffed as I fell back to the door. “It's her whether you like it or not.” He said. “The killer is Angelina,”Epilogue Third Person's POV “How are you holding up?” Rio asked Brielle after the council of Alpha that was held in the Eclipse pack. Brielle decided not to attend the meeting because it felt like torture to be around people at the time. “Fine, everyday, a new process and new method of looking forward,” She responded with a smile. Rio's face was covered in slash scars that were still healing. “It's been weeks but I can still feel the tension,” he confessed as he laid his back against a post. “Crescent pack has begun a democratic form of leadership that will be overseen by Eclipse and the Blue Moon. As from now on, they will elect their own leaders,” “You know soon, this method will spread across other packs,” I pointed out. “Looking forward to it,” he replied with a grin. “It surely beats being born into a responsibility you didn't ask for,” “True,” Brielle reacted. “Everything is going fine, I'm free but yet I don't feel free,” He walked to her side and exhaled heavily. “
Brielle's POV“You think anger adds to strength, it doesn't,” Chase's wolf said. I was spooked when I heard it speak, it wasn't possible for a wolf to speak but I knew Chase wasn't a normal alpha like the rest. He had his paws in Lucien, crushing him to the floor. Rio and Zane were holding the rest of the alphas back and Angelina stood by the corner. She was the first one to notice me. “Why are you doing this?” I asked him. They were all shocked to see me on my feet. I held the dagger I had pulled out of my back and a sudden relief came over me. “Impossible,” Chase remarked. “You won't just die,” “No!” Angelina roared. Lucien transformed back and hurried to me. His body was scarred with claw marks and slashes. “How? Where? What's going on?” He was surprised to see me. His hands couldn't let go of mine as tears escaped his eyes. “I'm sorry, I should have protected you,” “I'm here now and we have a job to finish,” I said to him as I wiped his tears. “It's strange seeing you cry
Third Person's POV Everything felt cold, her mind sunk into the darkness and gradually got pulled into a strange void. An occurrence that caused her to gasp suddenly and jolt awake. Brielle woke up in a room, on a bed. She looked around in confusion and fright and realized it was her old room, the one back home in Crescent. She had almost forgotten how it was. “How?” She asked herself, looking around again curiously. She tried flashing back to what she remembered last but it felt blank to her. She remembered being stabbed by a lady called Angelina but it felt like a dream to her. “Sweetheart,” someone pushed open the room's door. She cowered backwards when he stepped in. It was like seeing a ghost and he was a ghost. “Brielle, are you okay? You seem frightened, honey? Is it the nightmares again?” “Dad,” she exhaled heavily, her heart thumping against her chest as she drew closer to her father. “How…how is this possible?” “How is what?” Her dad asked with a perplexed look. “I
Lucien's POV “You fight like a little boy,” Chase remarked as he crushed my windpipe with his boot. I was only able to take down two alphas before they brought me down. I could hear Rio grunting from a distance as he fought against the alpha from the north. The man fought like a beast, moved like a predator stalking its prey. He took Rio by surprise, faster than his size. “I never liked you, Lucien. I told your sister that you are nothing to me and she tried to make your existence somewhat meaningful,” He spoke with pride in his voice as he applied more force on the boot that was against my throat. “Y…you are going to die for that,” I wheezed. The air in my lungs slowly went out but I knew I had to keep fighting, I had to keep Brielle safe, I had to keep my brother safe. It was my responsibility. “I would love to s__” That was the point of his sentence that I heard. My eyes became instantly filled with a buzzing sound that disoriented my entire system. My hands shivered tremendo
Brielle's POV“Where are they?” I asked her. She stood still and slowly, the darkness around began to clear up. It was sucked into a vortex above. That was when I realized that I was in a room with chains and weapons around. “Brielle,* Zane called out behind me. I ran into his arms as he stood by the edge of the room with the Priestess. “How did you get in here?” The priestess asked. “She heard the voices,” Suzie responded as she gently changed into a new pair of shoes. “She could hear the voices of the damned. Maybe because she is part of the damned,” “What is she talking about?” I was curious to know. The look on the priestess face made it scarier to want to know. “Only few people are allowed to hear the other side, listen to what they say, the story they have to say. We call them Whisperers,” The priestess explained as she took a seat next to the fireplace. Her old raggy clothes couldn't hide the fear she felt. “Do you want to tell her?” Suzie referred to the Priestess. “D
Lucien's POV.“I need them here as soon as possible,” I said to the squad leader on the phone. “And General, stay safe,” “Brielle! Damn it!” Rio's voice caught my attention. It was coming from.the dining chambers. I hurried in to meet his hand on her, she was looking almost lifeless. “Rio!” I growled and pulled him away from her. “What the fuck did you do to her?” I held her hand and it was cold as ice. She was mumbling words that I couldn't understand, saying them on repeat as she was glued to the spot she stood. I couldn't move her, it was like moving an unmovable pillar. “She's sucked into wherever they are,” Rio replied as he examined her beside me. “I saw her got called by it. She was drawn to it, they wanted her in there,” “Who is they? You keep saying they, I didn't even know who THEY are,” I retorted. I was falling deeper into the confusion with each glance. I had no idea what to do because both my brother and the priestess that could help were both trapped in wherever
