5. Strange Beast

Elisha’s POV

The woman who just walked in caught my eye. She wore a black dress that fit her well and made her look classy. Some of the guests met her in the middle of the hallway as she walked slowly and with poise.

The host opened the door for her, and as she looked around, our eyes met. She walked towards me and Arman as if she already knew us.

Then I stood up with a shy smile, but this woman's face changed as she stared at me so hard that she didn't even blink. I get the feeling that she wants to eat me up like an angry wolf.

“Hi, I’m Elisha…and you are?”

“I’m Madeline, The Ex-wife.”

I was surprised to know that, so this is the Ex-wife that wants Arman to come back to him. In the corner of my eye, Arman stood up with a blank expression.

"So, is this the ceremony where you married a lowly woman in front of everyone? Hmm?" Madeline seems unfriendly. She kept staring at me like she wanted to stab me.

"At least the girl I'm going with isn't as cheap as you are." Arman spoke up.

Madeline laughed as if she was having fun with Arman, and then she said, "A wife you can hire to get me back again? Oh, Arman, I'm afraid to tell you that Philip is way better than you."

I can't believe this woman had the guts to make this man feel inferior; I can't help but flash a grin in her direction and say. "No, Madeline, you have it all wrong. Arman is way better in any other man out there, in fact, he fucked me so well, roughly well....he gave all to me, and his attention is reserved exclusively for me. If you think that he is just using me to make you jealous, you are mistaken; he married me because I am the woman he has chosen to spend his life with. You used to be married to my husband, but now you're simply a relic of the past."

After I defended Arman against Madeline's harsh words, I could see the joy in Arman's eyes as he looked at me. Arman took my hand and leaned in to whisper something to me. "Let's get out of here, love...."

I smiled at Arman sweetly and cupped his face, and replied, “That’s a great idea.”

Madeline heaved a frustrated sigh and scoffed in astonishment as she tried to comprehend how someone could render her mute in front of everyone.

I am fully aware that all eyes and ears are on us; thus, the most responsible thing for me to do is to stand up for myself and refuse to allow this woman to embarrass me in front of everyone. How could she insult me by saying that I am a lowly woman?

As soon as we stepped outdoors, I instantly wriggled out of Arman's grasp and rolled my eyes as I said, "Well, this is what you need to pay me....let my father out of the prison."

Arman gave me a friendly smile before picking up the phone and speaking to someone else. After two minutes, he turned around and said, "Stay right there.... I can sense danger."

"Huh?" I have no idea what he was talking about.

Then a white van pulled up in front of me, and four guys tried to take me. Arman started beating them one by one like it was nothing. He wasn't sweating, and his wrath toward the four guys made him look threatening.

One of the guys tried to shoot him, but Arman grabbed the gun and threw it away.

I was shocked. How could he do something like that?

Who knew I'd end up with such a strange beast?
