I slowly walked into the car, and the moment I got in, I felt myself suffocating. Not because it was hot, but because of the tension I felt. I no longer trusted the man I was in a contracted marriage with, and it wasn't my fault either. Too many things were already happening to make me see reasons to regret.

As promised, he returned, getting seated close to me as though he hadn't told me to wait in the car.

“Is something wrong?” I asked, trying to mask my fear, but then he pretended not to hear me.

“You should answer me, you know? You kept me waiting in the car, and now you're pretending like nothing happened?”

He didn't say a thing, pissing me off even more. “You're just something else,” I answered, but he remained silent until we got to the venue.

I could see the media choked up outside. Their cameras were ready, and they were all ready to do whatever it took to capture the moment.

“Do whatever it takes to convince them we're married. I don't want any loose ends.”
