~Arya~

I inhaled a deep breath as soon as I stepped out of the confinement I've spent the last couple of months in. That was a fresh breath of freedom, I stared at the back of my palm, my skin was rough and my fingers long and skinny.

I never imagined that I'd ever be a free woman again and all thanks to this unknown man who came to my rescue. I wasn't sure if my landlady would be willing to let me back into my apartment.

I watched the lawyer and Karl walk towards the fancy black car at a distance, I stood back without moving. Perhaps this was where we say goodbye to each other.

The lawyer got into the front seat and Karl opened the door of the backseat. He hesitated for a second before looking my way.

“Are you coming or not?”

“Huh?” I was stupified for a second. I pointed to myself in shock while taking a glance around to be sure that he was talking to me.

I saw him mutter something under his breath before he left the car and began walking towards me in large strides. He stopped before me and overshadowed me with his massive height.

“It's fine, I can walk down home—”

Before I could finish processing my words, he took me by my right hand and began walking to the car. He guided me in and closed the door behind before walking to the other side of the car.

I was afraid the three men in the car could hear my loud and irregular heartbeat. I was afraid it was gonna rip out of my chest.

“Relax, Arya..” His soft voice rang next to my ear. I shuddered slightly but managed to give a nod and a tight smile.

All through our journey to wherever they intended to take me, I couldn't help but curse Simon every now and then. If he was alive, why didn't he come forward so that I could get out of prison?

If these men didn't show up, then i'd never know that he was still alive and breathing. What the actual hell happened?

We finally arrived at a one storey building, the house screamed of 'home'. It wasn't so big yet it looked comfortable for a family of three or four.

I stepped out of the car still staring at the cream colored house until someone nudged me slightly from the back. I looked up to see Karl smile a little at me. I walked behind the two men until we entered the well furnished house.

“Your house is really nice..I love the little flower garden outside” I commended trying to strike a conversation in the tense atmosphere.

I heard the lawyer's snotty laughter and was a bit embarrassed. Maybe I should have just shut the fuck up instead.

“Not mine..” Karl murmured as he looked my way. “It's yours Arya..”

My jaw dropped, I stared at the men skeptically. At this point I was expecting a director to jump out of nowhere and scream 'Cut! Cut! Cut!' but that didn't happen.

I pinched my arm just to be sure that I wasn't having any delusional dream again but this was fucking real! The lawyer stretched two keys to me with a warm smile.

“These are the keys to this house and that car parked right outside..”

I felt my heart skip a beat as I stared at the keys on his palm. I shook my head slowly, this can't be right. Nothing comes this easy and expensive without a price.

“No..” I whispered taking a step back. “Something is not right, why are you guys helping me? I'm sure I must have skipped a condition in that paper I signed..”

I saw the two men exchange brief glances before the lawyer bowed slightly. He placed the keys on the table before excusing himself.

My attention was diverted back to the imposing figure before me, he took slow steps to me and stopped just a step away from me.

“Your fiance faked his own death just so he could live a happy life with his newborn and the woman whom he truly loved..”

My eyes teared up instantly, I shook my head in denial. That doesn't sound like what Simon would do. I knew that he loved me, he really did.

“No that's not true, I saw his body in a body bag and we love each other—”

“What did you really see?” he questioned lowering his gaze to her. “You saw a body bag, you didn't see who or what was in the bag. You saw some things because that's what they wanted you to see. Why don't you think carefully, I know the CCTV footage of you heading to his room with a knife was real,”

I listened to him with interest, he brought his phone out and began scrolling through his phone for something.

“If he's really dead, then who is this?”

I turned my head to the photo displaying on his phone, my chest tightened as soon as I recognized who it was.

“Alicia?”

Alicia, my best friend with Simon, my supposed late fiance and a little baby girl of three months old at most.

CHAPTER 10_ The Bloody Bride 1~Arya~I was this close to walking back to their table and flipping it all over but I’m afraid that’s not the kind of wave Karl asked me to cause here tonight. My eyes fell back on the men who hadn’t taken an inch back away from me. I tapped against the special invitation card once more drawing their attention to it.“And how does an invitation card stop us from carrying out our orders?”I shot the first man a brow as soon as I heard him speak.“I’m Mr Adams special guest. Neither you nor the fucking birthday boy can throw me out.” I proudly declared taking a sip out of my glass. “And if you think that I’m bluffing, you can go ahead and be the first one to try and send me out.” I noticed the hesitation in their eyes or maybe what we call fear. I trailed their line of sight back to the Anders table. “You two, grab her.”My brows furrowed. Almost immediately, the two men approached me and pulled me up from my sitting position at the order of the head o

~Arya~“The first thing you need to know is that you owe no one any explanation, Arya.”I watched Karl pace slowly before me as he spoke. I couldn’t deny the fact that I needed him to get to Simon and Alicia even though I hate the thought of staying under the same roof with a relative of the person who betrayed me.“Don’t let them see your weak side. You hold as much power and authority as I do in my family and with time, they’ll learn to obey you.”“I don’t want to face them ever again–” “I’m afraid that’s not an option.” Karl interrupted, pausing his movement. There was a gentle flicker in his eyes, that same look that always confuse me about what his true motives were. I inhaled sharply when he began approaching me where I sat on the couch. He stopped before me, pinning his gaze on me and then reaching his hand to grab my chin.“I didn’t marry a weak woman. You’ve been through hell and it’s time for you to rain hell on those who hurt you and the first step is getting rid of any

~Arya~He was the last person I had expected to see given his busy nature. In the last couple of days only his men had visited me and I thought that he was too busy to chase after an ordinary woman like myself. But I guess I was wrong. I saw his eyes flicker as he stared around the room until it fell back on my face then lower to my chest where my name tag was pinned on my black shirt. “Arya—”“What do you want? Don't you have other weak ladies to falsely accuse of murder so you can bail them right out again and be declared as a savior?” I spat out in irritation.I didn't realize I had so much to say in less than three seconds.Karl didn't budge for a while, he just stood there being handsome. He took a long glance at me then chuckled dryly.“Order for table 29”I sighed in relief as I turned around and grabbed the little tray from the cook. He just saved me from whatever awkwardness this was.To my surprise, Karl followed right behind me while I made my journey to the fat man at t

~Arya~The atmosphere was very tense and unbearable. Realizing that I was in the midst of people who did everything in their power to lock me up behind bars for a crime that I didn't even commit, I felt the tears I was holding slip out of my eyes and trickled down my face.I tore my gaze off Karl’s cold stare and made for the door immediately. I’d rather be locked away than stay in their midst for one more second.“Arya, wait!”No! My voice echoed in my head. I couldn't find the strength to yell back at him, all that was running through my mind at that moment was to flee from my enemy's territory. I knew someone like Karl Adams was too good to be true for me. I've long ran out of luck and it took me a while to realize this.I just made a fool of myself in front of them.I gasped out loud when a grip caught on my arm. Whoever it was turned me around fully with just a slight pull. My eyes were clouded with tears but I could see the man whose intentions still remained a mystery to me.

At night, I was busy pacing around the room waiting for my husband to show up. He already made it clear that he was looking forward to our wedding night at the registry. I took a long bath and also took my time to shave my pubic hairs, i had to look fresh and clean for my husband. I was dressed in a sexy red nightgown, all that was missing was a man to rip it off my body. An hour passed by and yet no sign of him yet, I left him two hours ago downstairs as he was drinking to himself. After a few more minutes, the door finally opened. I sprang up to my feet, my heart racing as I heard his footsteps walking in. He took a long glance at me before turning his back against me. “What are you doing still up? Go, get some sleep..”His words took me by surprise, embarrassment washed over my face. What must he be thinking about me now? He was the one who got me anxious for no reason at all. “Arya..” He called softly, taking me out of my trance. I turned to him. “Go to bed, it's late alread

~Arya~It's been months since I had a deep and relaxing bath like this one.
