"You cleaned. No empty bottles; the office doesn't smell like a whiskey factory. Good job, I'm impressed." Cody marches into the office and settles on the sofa. 

"Self-pity won't get me anywhere. If I don't do something, no one will find Selena." I stare at the stack of paperwork that has become a part of my life since I accepted the damn title. 

After a few minutes of silence, I sigh, drop the pen, and look at Cody, "Alright, you got it."

"Got what?" 

"My attention, you got all my damn attention. The paperwork won't do itself, so entertain me, tell me something good. Don't bother saying anything if it's another problem on my shoulders.

why hasn't he clicked on not to trust is mom and search properly for her he got a clue it had something to do with the guardians and yet he chose to believe his mom even though he never trusted his mam from the beginning what changed

I thought the guardians told her he was no longer in the pack but he is in the kingdom?? Sounds like someone is telling lies
