Emily POV I woke suddenly to the sound of a crash followed by screaming. ‘Kyra, what was that?’ I asked my wolf. I didn’t get a reply from her so I tried to feel for Kyra in my mind, but it was like she wasn’t there. I sat up to try and look around. The room was dark, but the door was cracked letting in a small sliver of light. ‘That’s not right.’ I thought to myself as I noticed there shouldn’t be a door on that side of the bed. Then I noticed the bed seemed to be in a different position. I looked around and quickly realized I was back in my bedroom in the Blue Moon pack house. Was this past weekend a dream? There’s no way it was a dream. Panic set in as I wondered how I got here and if my dad would really have me executed for being here. His voice boomed down the hallway, distracting me from my thoughts. “You will not harm her, Kate!” He roared. Who did she want to harm? “She doesn’t belong here, Adam! And you know it.” I heard my mother sneer. “She is my daughter.
Emily POV “What do you mean?” Easton asked. “I was a kid again and I heard my parents arguing in the middle of the night. Daddy was yelling at mama about not hurting some “her” and mama said she didn’t belong there. Then daddy said that’s his daughter and that mama had done enough damage with her potion.” I rushed out. “A potion?” He mumbled with confusion. “That’s what I said. And he said something to her about she said she’d be my mother so she needed to be my mother.” I trailed off as a thought occurred to me. ‘Kyra, do you remember that?’ I asked my wolf. ‘I don’t remember very much from before you turned 4, honestly.’ She answered. “So, how old were you in the dream and why do you think it was a memory?” Easton inquired. “I tried to talk to Kyra and it was like she wasn’t even there. She doesn’t really remember anything from before I was 4, and the bedding was what I had when I was really young, before I even started school. And Mary came in my room at the end.
Emily POV I quickly picked up my discarded shirt from the night before and slipped it on before going into the bathroom. Easton went to the kitchen, and when I walked in he already had a coffee waiting for me. I gave him a quizzical look. “How do you know how I like my coffee?” Easton smirked and answered, “I saw you make it yesterday morning.” I was a bit shocked because I hadn’t realized he was even paying attention when I made it. “Hmm. Well now I feel bad that I don’t know how you like yours.” I playfully pouted. “Mm, I like mine the same as my Luna.” He replied before he leaned over the counter to give me a chaste kiss. “So, tall and sweet?” I deadpanned. “And strong.” He grinned. I laughed at his answer while Kyra purred in the back of my head. ‘You sure purr like a kitten a whole lot considering you’re a wolf.’ I quipped at her. She ignored my remark, but I could feel her grinning in my mind. “So, Alpha. What’s for breakfast? Sausage or……” I asked, not
Easton POV I knew it was Ryan at the door. Emily laughed as she scurried off to the bathroom. At least he knocked instead of just entering the apartment, which reminded me that I needed to set up codes for Emily and Hannah today. ‘You can come in now.’ I linked Ryan. The whirring of the lock sounded and Ryan peered his head in when he opened it. “You’re dressed, right?” He asked before walking into the living room. “Why, you don’t want to see me naked first thing in the morning?” I asked as I walked out to the living room. “He might, but I’d rather not.” Hannah laughed out. “Yeah from the smell in here I’d say it’s a good thing you told me to wait.” Ryan said to Hannah as he looked at me. “Why are you here so early in the morning, Ryan?” I questioned. He shrugged as he answered, “Dude. I texted you. We’re going to train this morning before going to the office.” I rolled my eyes as I went back to the kitchen to clean up after breakfast. Ryan and Hannah followed
Emily POV I surprised myself a little when I managed to successfully pin Easton. I knew I was a strong fighter, but I’d never actually gone against an Alpha. When Hannah and Ryan had finished teasing Easton, I stood up from the mat. None of us had brought water, and I really needed some after that match. “I need a drink after that.” I mentioned. “Luna, it’s still morning! At least wait until lunch.” Ryan playfully scolded. I scoffed and replied, “You can’t drink all day if you don’t start early.” Easton busted out laughing and stood up beside me. “There’s a water cooler over by the locker rooms.” He said. I hadn’t even noticed the locker rooms when we came in. They were on the other side, slightly hidden from view by all the different workout equipment. We all four walked over to that side of the gym. The back half of the gym had all kinds of different workout machines and weight equipment. It would be great to do cardio and weight training in the pack house ins
I was so lost in thought I didn’t realize we had walked all the way to the Alpha floor. A shower would be great right now. “What are you thinking about?” Easton asked with a small smirk. “A shower.” I replied as I opened the apartment door. I heard Easton mumble under his breath while I walked towards the bathroom. I turned the shower on and stripped out of my clothes while waiting for the water to warm up. I stood admiring the enormous bathroom. I’d been in here plenty of times already, but never truly looked at it until now. It was very modern, and the separate bathtub had to be big enough for four people. The toilet was on the other side of a half wall, and the walls were painted a light smoky grey. I was torn from my admiration when two large arms wrapped around my waist from behind. “You sure are looking hard at the bathtub for someone that was thinking about a shower.” Easton whispered. I turned my head to look at him and smirked, “I was just waiting on you.
Emily’s POV “Emily! Em, it’s time to go!” My friend’s voice cut through my thoughts. ‘Why doesn’t she mind link us?’ my wolf, Kyra, asks. It was time to leave for the gala. Once a year, our pack hosts a gala for unmated wolves. Several neighboring packs are invited. They also host their own galas once a year, but I try to avoid going to these galas whenever possible. I don’t expect to ever find a mate, despite being the Alpha’s firstborn. I’ve always been unwanted. Ever since I can remember, I’ve yearned for a feeling I’ve never felt. My parents didn’t want me. My siblings didn’t want me. I was just alone in the world no matter what I did. I tried everything to get attention and affection from my family. I was the perfect daughter and student; an overachiever really. I woke my siblings and got them ready for school every morning, helped them with homework and even did their laundry. I practically raised my brothers and sisters. Despite all that, I never felt wanted or needed
Emily’s POV Hannah and I go downstairs, ignoring whatever nonsense Kate is saying now. We see Kate’s mate Tyler as we approach the front door, and he makes some comment about nobody wanting us. We just roll our eyes and walk out the door. I tell Hannah we can just take my car. She happily exclaims that her mate can bring her for her car tomorrow. She’s too optimistic for me sometimes, but I guess one of us should stay positive. The event venue is only a ten minute drive. Hannah is chatting the whole drive, pondering what her mate is like. “I hope his favorite cereal is different than mine. I’d hate to fight over the last bowl of Fruit Prbbles. I would love if he’s blonde and not too tall.” I lightly chuckle at that because she has a point there. Hannah is only 5’2” and most wolves still tower over her when she’s wearing heels. She’d get a permanent neck ache having to look up to a tall guy all the time. She then asks, “Em, what do you think your mate is like?” Before I e
