Emily POV I heard Easton turn the shower off as I walked into the closet. Kyra was pouting at me for not doing more in the shower. I don’t really know what I want at this point, though. It would be easier to travel and find the Fae Kingdom and get answers before being responsible for a child. I put on my undergarments and stood in the closet trying to decide what to wear for my first official working day. Easton walked in just as I decided to wear smart casual attire rather than business casual. “You still trying to tease me, baby girl?” He asked with a wink. “I’m sure I will later.” I laughed. “What are you wearing today?” I added. “A business suit, of course.” He replied. I peered at him for a moment and caught a mischievous glint in his eyes. So he’s teasing me now. “Hmm. Maybe I’ll wear one of your suits, too.” I smirked. “I’d let you.” He grinned back. I took my clothes off the hanger and started getting dressed while Easton did the same. “So, what are YOU
Emily POV Easton set up my access code and we decided to let Ryan set up Hannah’s so she could choose it herself. The lead doctor was already expecting a call to schedule Hannah and me for new member examinations, so she told Easton we could go to her office at 10:00 am. She said he should expect two emails within the next fifteen minutes for Hannah and me to complete our medical history before the appointment. “Well, she seems very efficient.” I commented when Easton hung up the phone. “She is that. I think she’s everyone’s favorite doctor in the pack too.” He chuckled before adding, “She can scare kids straight with just one look though.” I laughed as he shuddered at what I could only imagine was a memory of the doctor. “What did you do to earn one of those looks from a doctor?” I asked with a raised eyebrow. “I’m sure you’ll hear about it when we get there later.” He grinned. I playfully rolled my eyes and walked around to see his computer. “Let’s see this ca
Emily POV After declaring I was confident that the doctor would be able to remain professional, I quickly tried changing the subject. I needed to calm my anxiety and distract myself. “So, what did you want to do today?” I asked Callie. “Oh, just a little shopping, and show you some of the inner workings of the pack.” She remarked. “There’s a laptop already set up in your office for you. I’ve already had you added to our server, but you can add yourself as a second user to have access to your current Outlook email or we can merge it with the new one so your contacts transfer and any emails get automatically forwarded. It’s up to you.” Easton explained. “I’ll probably just merge them. It’ll make it easier.” I admitted. “Do you want me to have someone do that for you?” Easton asked as he handed me a slip of paper. “No. I got it.” I answered with a smile. I glanced at the paper and saw it was my username and password. “Well, I’ll go to my office and get started on that.
Emily POV Hannah came in and sat in the chair beside Callie. I went to make a coffee. As promised, the coffee bar was fully stocked. I smiled and asked Callie and Hannah if they wanted a coffee. “Oh please!” Hannah gushed enthusiastically. Callie chuckled and replied, “That would be great! Let’s see what you got over there.” She came to look at the options while I started Hannah’s. I knew what she would want. “So, Hannah, we have to go see the lead doctor at ten. I was thinking after lunch we can go with Callie and let her show us around some more and do a little shopping.” I suggested. “The shopping part sounds great, but why the doctor?” Hannah frowned. “Just to start a file on us as new pack members. Also, I need birth control.” I shrugged. “Will you have to get a special kind because of the Fae half?” Hannah asked. “I think so. But that’s not
Emily POV The entire drive to the doctor was filled with Ryan and Luke joking. Easton was driving and I was in the passenger seat, so we just ignored them. I was staring out of the window absentmindedly. I was still trying to come to terms with the fact that my entire life until a few days ago had been a twisted web of lies. I had no idea where to really even start to try to unravel it. The books from the library had given me an idea of some basic Fae abilities I should have, but I had no idea how to use them. I also didn’t know where to begin with finding my mother’s name, much less her family or the Fae kingdom. It was beginning to seem daunting, and I was suddenly feeling that I didn’t want to put my life with Easton on hold to search for the answers. Sparks dancing across my hand pulled me out of my thoughts. ‘Everything ok?’ Easton mind linked. ‘Yeah. Everything’s great.’ I replied
Emily’s POV “Emily! Em, it’s time to go!” My friend’s voice cut through my thoughts. ‘Why doesn’t she mind link us?’ my wolf, Kyra, asks. It was time to leave for the gala. Once a year, our pack hosts a gala for unmated wolves. Several neighboring packs are invited. They also host their own galas once a year, but I try to avoid going to these galas whenever possible. I don’t expect to ever find a mate, despite being the Alpha’s firstborn. I’ve always been unwanted. Ever since I can remember, I’ve yearned for a feeling I’ve never felt. My parents didn’t want me. My siblings didn’t want me. I was just alone in the world no matter what I did. I tried everything to get attention and affection from my family. I was the perfect daughter and student; an overachiever really. I woke my siblings and got them ready for school every morning, helped them with homework and even did their laundry. I practically raised my brothers and sisters. Despite all that, I never felt wanted or needed
Emily’s POV Hannah and I go downstairs, ignoring whatever nonsense Kate is saying now. We see Kate’s mate Tyler as we approach the front door, and he makes some comment about nobody wanting us. We just roll our eyes and walk out the door. I tell Hannah we can just take my car. She happily exclaims that her mate can bring her for her car tomorrow. She’s too optimistic for me sometimes, but I guess one of us should stay positive. The event venue is only a ten minute drive. Hannah is chatting the whole drive, pondering what her mate is like. “I hope his favorite cereal is different than mine. I’d hate to fight over the last bowl of Fruit Prbbles. I would love if he’s blonde and not too tall.” I lightly chuckle at that because she has a point there. Hannah is only 5’2” and most wolves still tower over her when she’s wearing heels. She’d get a permanent neck ache having to look up to a tall guy all the time. She then asks, “Em, what do you think your mate is like?” Before I e
Easton’s POV I really don’t want to attend another mating event. I’m almost 25, and it seems pointless to look for my fated mate at this point. My parents insisted I attend Blue Moon’s gala this year since I haven’t been to their pack in four years. As we pull up to Blue Moon’s event hall, my wolf, Dallas, perks up. ‘What has you paying attention tonight?’ I ask, but he doesn’t answer. Ryan, my future Beta and best friend, wiggles his eyebrows at me as he opens the door. “You ready to find your mate tonight, Alpha?” he asks. I roll my eyes as I get out of the car. I quickly mindlink Ryan, ‘We’re staying one hour. That should be enough to appease our parents.’ He just chuckles back at me through the link. He hasn’t found his mate either, but he’s in no hurry to do so. Right before we walk in my phone starts ringing. I sneak a glance at the screen and see it’s my younger sister, Megan. “Go ahead, Ryan. I’m gonna take this real quick.” I say before turning away. Megan found
