Sila never thought she would receive a call from her mother-in-law. In the last two years, they had never shared a word with each other.

When Sila had shared the news of her second pregnancy, Nikita hadn’t even congratulated her. She had seen Klaus suffering because of her mother’s coldness. The destruction of his family had already affected him badly after he became Capo.

But she couldn’t do anything about it. Today, however, she was both happy and curious about this call.

Nikita was staring

“Come again?”Sila hesitantly met his questioning gaze. “Declan, don’t get me wrong. That girl, Kiara.” She pointed a thumb toward the office door. “She just mentioned how Valentina is being treated here. And I know how Liam is. I know how you are. I only want Valentina to have a good, respectable future.” She gave him a pleading look. “A future only you can give her. So please, show her some mercy and marry her.”Silence descended over Declan Sullivan’s office. He tilted his head, studying her with a cold, calculating stare. “Why should I show her mercy when her own family didn’t?” He asked, his voice dangerously calm.Sila looked away. “Declan, Liam asked for Valentina in exchange for me.”A humorless chuckle escaped him. “And your husband happily handed her over to Liam.” His eyes narrowed. “So why this sudden love for his sister when he literally sacrificed her to get you back from your ex-husband?” “My husband didn’t send me here,” Sila snapped. “I came on my own.”Another sar

Two weeks! Then I will be free. Back to my family. Kiara thought. However her heart was aching for Valentina. Poor girl. Being an Italian princess, no one could save her from these Irish men.Kiara was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t notice the approaching figure from the opposite direction. She collided with the person.“Ah!”Kiara immediately looked up. A heavily pregnant woman stood in front of her.“Oh my God! Are you all right?” Kiara quickly reached for her arm. “I’m so sorry. I wasn’t looking where I was going.”The woman smiled warmly. “Don’t worry. I’m fine.”She looked around the unfamiliar hallway. “Actually, could you help me? I’m trying to find Declan’s office.”Kiara blinked. “Yes, but may I know your name first? I need to be specific about informing him. He got angry at me last time I gave him a call without asking for the name of the man.”The woman smiled. “He called me here for a meeting. Sila Barbrieri.”The na

Kiara stared at herself in the mirror. Her lips were swollen from the kiss. She slowly touched them with trembling fingertips, as if she could erase the memory by simply wiping it away. But she couldn’t. Her father’s face flashed before her. ‘Kiara, I am allowing you to live your dream, but don’t forget your roots.’ Those had been his words at the airport when he came to see her off. He had trusted her enough to let her chase her dream in America. He had believed his daughter was strong enough to know the difference between what she wanted and what could destroy her. Tears gathered in Kiara’s eyes. She felt ashamed of her moment of weakness. Declan Sullivan was dangerous. Dangerous in every sense of the word. He was a man whose power stretched far beyond politics and wealth. And she had allowed that man to get close enough to kiss her. She had to get away from him. Soon! Kiara swallowed hard and left the room in search of Valentina. She needed to know if her friend co

“Where have you been, my dear Valentina?” Liam’s voice from behind stopped Valentina in her tracks. Her heart lurched. She swallowed as her throat suddenly went dry. Slowly, she turned around and gasped when she found Liam standing right behind her, invading her personal space. Valentina forced a small, nervous smile. “I went shopping. I told you this morning.” Liam’s eyes travelled slowly over her. Her flushed features made him want to eat her. She had the body of a goddess, but her mind was anything but innocent. It was as twisted as his own. He grabbed her hand and pulled her closer. “Really? Show me what you bought.” Valentina blinked. She hadn’t bought anything. In her eagerness to meet her mother, and after everything her mother had told her, she had completely forgotten. “I didn’t like anything. And, truth be told, I had a headache, Liam. So I returned home early.” Liam’s eyebrows lifted. “Is that so?” Valentina nodded. “Yes. But why are you asking like this?” Liam tu

“Declan? I think you’re busy. I’ll call you later.” Declan clenched his hand into a fist. That girl was getting on his last nerve. She needed to be disciplined, especially after what she had just done! “I don’t have time later. Say what you want to say,” He snapped at Sila. “Declan… how are you talking to me?” She was stunned by his tone. He had never spoken to her like this during a normal conversation. “Look, Sila. If you’re expecting sweet talk, go to your husband. I won’t entertain your mood swings anymore.” He gritted his teeth, a muscle ticking in his jaw. All He wanted was to find Kiara Seth and spank the hell out of her. “You know what, Declan? You really need to calm down before you talk to me. This is something serious, but you’re in no condition to have a serious conversation right now.” With that, Sila ended the call. Declan’s anger spiked even further. For the first time, He didn’t care that Sila had called him after two years or that He had spoken to her like

“Not good news again, Sir.” Victor handed Declan an inside report from the party heads. Declan’s eyebrows drew tightly together. Another report this week, and the same grim expression on Victor’s face. “The chairman of the party wants to change the candidate. From our man to someone else he considers more suitable to win.”Declan’s hand clenched in anger. Losing the Senate seat meant losing political power. And that would directly weaken his Mafia’s position in New York. The Irish Mafia now stood equal to the Russians. Political power in the Senate would give him the leverage He needed against them. “Is this still because of the interview?” Declan demanded, his voice low and authoritative as He opened the file. Every line comparing his candidate with the chairman’s choice screamed the same thing.Family Image. The chairman and his candidate were both decent family men. Their records were clean, while his was stained with rumours.Rumours that happened to be true.Declan’s jaw tighte
