Sena's POV

I spun around to face the source of that chilling voice, my heart nearly stopping at what I saw.

Dr. Ashford stepped out of the shadows, but this was not the gentle, concerned physician I had grown to trust. His expression was cold and calculating, his eyes holding a predatory gleam I had never seen before. Behind him, Lydia emerged with a sinister smile that made my blood run cold. Her entire demeanor had shifted - gone was any pretense of fragility or innocence, replaced by something dark and dangerous.

"Who are they?" Henrik whispered frantically from behind the bars, his voice trembling with fear.

"Someone you should fear," Lydia answered smoothly, her voice carrying a threat that made both my aunt and uncle shrink back against the far wall of their cell.

"What are you doing here?" I demanded, my voice rising with panic. "How did you get in? Where is Thane?"

Lydia's smile widened, showing too many teeth. "I can be

Sena's POVBefore Henrik could explain what he meant about Lysander, Kael's voice echoed through the dungeon corridor, sharp with concern and authority."What is happening down here?"I spun toward the sound, my heart hammering against my ribs. But what I saw made my blood freeze in my veins - the corridor behind me was empty. Lydia and Dr. Ashford had vanished as completely as if they had never been there at all.The impossibility of their sudden disappearance sent fresh terror shooting through me. How could two people simply evaporate from a stone corridor with only one entrance? What kind of power were we truly dealing with?"Sena?" Kael's voice came again, closer now. "What is going on down here?"I shot a desperate look at Henrik and Marta, silently commanding them to keep quiet about what they had just witnessed. Henrik's eyes were wide with understanding, and he gave an almost imperceptible nod."Nothing is wrong,

Sena's POVThe morning sunlight streamed through the windows of Kael's private dining chamber as we shared breakfast together. The intimacy of the previous night still lingered between us, creating a warm contentment that made even simple moments feel precious."How have you been managing everything while I was unconscious?" I asked, cutting a piece of fruit. "The kingdom, the people... I know it could not have been easy."Kael set down his cup and considered my question thoughtfully. "It has been challenging, but there have been some encouraging developments. After what happened with Lily and her mother's forgiveness, I decided to make more direct efforts to connect with our people.""What kind of efforts?""I have been visiting the villages personally, listening to their concerns, providing aid where needed. I established new laws redistributing some of the royal lands to families for farming. I brought in physicians from neighboring kingdoms to treat the sick and injured." His expr

Sena's POVThe moment we entered his chambers, Kael's restraint shattered completely. His hands tangled in my hair as he backed me against the door, his mouth claiming mine with desperate hunger. This was not the gentle, careful touches I had grown accustomed to - this was raw need, primal and consuming."I need you," he growled against my lips, his voice rough with desire. "I have been starving for you."His hands roamed my body with possessive urgency, mapping every curve as if memorizing me all over again. When his fingers found the ties of my dress, he made quick work of them, the fabric pooling at my feet in moments."So beautiful," he murmured, his silver eyes blazing as they devoured my exposed skin. "So perfectly mine."I reached for his shirt, desperate to feel skin against skin, and he helped me strip it away before lifting me effortlessly and carrying me to his bed. The mattress dipped beneath our combined weight as he settled over me, his muscled frame caging me in."Tell

Sena's POVKael's expression shifted to one of puzzlement at my question, his brow furrowing as he considered his answer."Yes," he said simply, his voice carrying a weight of honesty that made my chest tighten. "I was desperately lonely, Sena. That is why I spent every possible moment at your bedside, talking to you even when you could not respond."His silver eyes grew distant as he continued. "I did not want you to feel the isolation I was experiencing. I know what loneliness can do to a person, how it can drive you to the edge of madness. So I filled the silence with my voice, hoping that somehow, wherever you were, you could hear me and know you were not abandoned."The raw emotion in his words brought tears to my eyes. All of Lydia's poisonous insinuations crumbled in the face of his genuine vulnerability. This man had not been seeking comfort in another woman's arms - he had been pouring his heart out to my unconscious form, fighting to keep me tethered to the world.Unable to

Sena's POVFive days after my awakening, Dr. Ashford finally declared me strong enough to move about the castle. The freedom to walk on my own legs again felt intoxicating after so many months of confinement, even if I tired more easily than before.I was making my way through the west wing, enjoying the simple pleasure of movement, when Lydia emerged from a side corridor and blocked my path."Well, well," she said, her sweet facade dropping away like a discarded mask. "The sleeping princess has finally found her legs."The transformation was startling. Gone was the delicate, traumatized woman who had spoken so softly in my chambers. In her place stood someone harder, more calculating, with eyes that glittered with malicious intelligence."Lydia," I said carefully, glancing around the empty corridor. "What a surprise to encounter you here.""Cut the innocent act," she snapped, stepping closer. "We both know you heard me during your little unconscious vacation. I saw the recognition in
