Max went back to his house again. The silence met him like an old friend. He started his normal routine of removing his clothes in various places of the house to make it easier to know where they were for the next day’s use. Though it was the weekend, he knew that he never really had any time off. Sometimes on Sunday, he had a few hours to unwind, but this pace of pushing himself was getting old.

The words that Mack had said to him were still echoing in his mind. He couldn’t get rid of them. No matter how hard he tried, he kept hearing them over and over. It was when he sat down on the couch in his boxers, and he looked around to the emptiness of the house, and he closed his eyes for a minute he really knew that he wanted something different than what was in front of him.
