Chapter 73 Landon's Fortune Telling

Author: Night Eleven
Titus observed Landon's face. "You seem like you're in a good mood."

Landon paused in the middle of his actions. "Huh?"

Titus picked up his teacup. "Someone hacked into your house, and you're still smiling despite that. What else could be the reason for that aside from a good mood? Brat."

Landon knew that Titus was still cross at him for not seeking proper treatment for his illness. He poured another cup of tea. "Solo must've told you about the state of my body recently and also… someone I've met."

Titus looked up in defiance. He refused to acknowledge Landon's statement. "Solo's your bodyguard. Why would he tell me details about such things?"

"You're right, Grandpa," Landon said with mirth in his voice.

Titus couldn't be bothered to engage in this verbal back-and-forth with Landon. The Yorks tended to prefer going straight to the point, except for Landon, who always had something brewing in secret.

"Fine, just tell me. Which one out of the doctors who came today is the Dr. Gen

Seeing this, Aria looked at Landon and raised an eyebrow, asking what was going on. She wondered why these two were turning on each other. Landon smiled faintly. "Fennel, this is your last chance." Fennel nodded, then said, "Jethro, you know damn well if I'm talking nonsense or not. Mr. Bancroft's right inside. I'm going to report everything to him!" Jethro's face darkened as he grabbed Fennel's wrist hard. "You're playing with fire, Fennel." He dropped his voice to a threat. "If you talk, we both go down together. Don't you want to live?" Fennel shook off his hand with a cold laugh. "Did you see this coming when you kidnapped me? Besides, if I turn you in, you're the one who dies. I'll get promoted and take your position." "Who told you that?" Jethro's voice was low. "Don't be rash. Calm down first."Seeing this, Aria cut into their conversation. "Mr. Culver, aren't you in a hurry to leave anymore?" Jethro turned around, glanced at Landon and Sam in the car, then looked

The newcomer was Warner Stonehand, the chief secretary of Portfall. Ulric turned to face him. "My assistant must've forgotten. I'll have to give her a good talking-to." Aria looked at Warner. "Mr. Stonehand, my apologies. I forgot to send you an invitation." "No harm done." Warner smiled lightly. "Young people make mistakes sometimes, and that's okay. Just be more careful next time." Seeing this, Jethro moved closer. "Mr. Stonehand, it's been a while. I didn't see you earlier, so I thought you weren't coming." There was something meaningful in his expression. Warner looked at him. "Mr. Culver, it really has been a while. You've been keeping customs running smoothly. Keep up the good work." Aria caught this exchange and realized Warner wasn't as simple as he seemed. The whole point of this banquet was to take down Jethro, but watching him greet Warner gave her a bad feeling. In Portfall, if the governor resigned or was incapacitated, the chief secretary usually took over

"I don't really understand." Tucker looked up at Aria. "If the lights go out, the whole place will be dark. It could cause chaos." Aria said casually, "It won't be long—just cut the lights for two minutes. There won't be any problems, so just do what I say." Tucker nodded. "Alright, I'll follow your lead." "I'll give you a signal when it's time." Aria remained calm. "I'm going to check the venue setup. Come with me." "Okay." Tucker followed behind Aria as she walked toward the banquet hall entrance. Standing in the center of the banquet hall, Aria traced the edge of the long tables draped in golden cloth. Lights from the crystal chandelier danced across the utensils. "Where's tonight's menu?" Aria looked at Tucker. "Are the chefs our people?" Tucker nodded. "The chefs are ours, but they've been prepping food nonstop. The menu should be with them." Hearing this, Aria headed straight for the kitchen. Two people were inside preparing the evening's dishes. Tucker raised

Landon told Aria, "Maybe only someone who understands the notebook can see what's really there." "Someone who understands it..." Aria frowned. "I just had a thought. What if Charlotte's father used to work with Mariner and Fennel? But then something went wrong between them. "Perhaps during the argument, Charlotte's father wanted to take them all down with him, so he reported them. But on his way there, they staged that accident and killed him." Landon glanced at her. "That's a bold theory, but that could be possible." Aria propped up her chin. "You think it could be true?" "Yeah." Landon smiled faintly. "But we'll need careful proof for bold theories like that." Aria looked up at him with intrigue. "Good point. The banquet should reveal everything." Sam's head popped up when he heard this. "Banquet? Does that mean I get to eat my fill again?" Aria smiled. "Yep, your only job is to eat." "Yay!" Sam beamed. "Boss, you're the best." Just as he finished speaking, the ca

Todd's body went rigid. He then told Aria, "Don't burn your bridges. You never know who you'll need later." "Well, that saying doesn't apply here." Aria's voice was casual. "What's the point of sparing people who do terrible things?" Todd had nothing to say. He could only watch helplessly as they hauled away his cargo, his heart bleeding with every crate. This shipment had huge profit margins. After just a few runs, he'd already made a fortune. Aria looked down at him. "How many times have you done this?" Todd's face was sour. "Third time. This was the biggest load yet..." Aria raised an eyebrow. That meant they'd already shipped Farshyan artifacts overseas twice before. "Take him away." Aria moved her foot off him. "Watch him closely, and don't let him run." "Yes, ma'am." Two people came over. They hauled Todd to his feet and dragged him away. Aria turned to Landon. "Now that we've wrapped things up here, we need to find Charlotte. She's probably the only one who c

"Ms. Carver." It was Charlotte calling. "Fennel just got home. He thinks I brought someone over and had the security guard at the door test me. He's getting suspicious." Aria's eyes narrowed. "He's suspicious because he doesn't trust you. At least you didn't blow your cover." "So what do I do now?" Charlotte sounded nervous. "I don't know how to act around him. Every time I see his face, I remember my father's accident... I want to kill him myself." Aria kept her voice steady. "Calm down. If you do something to him, you're the one who ends up a criminal. That piece of trash isn't worth going to jail for." She paused. "I've already figured out how to handle him. Just act normal for now, like nothing ever happened." Charlotte let out a small sigh. "Okay. I'll follow your lead." "Hang in there a bit longer." Aria's tone was reassuring. "I don't think your father's accident was just Fennel. The people backing him are also involved in this. Trust me with this—I'll root them out
