Chapter 66 – A Convenient Lie

Aurora rushed into the hospital, barely able to breathe. The white hallway seemed to stretch endlessly as she tried to find his room.

Her thoughts were a mess. Her heart was pounding so hard it felt like it might burst from her chest. Rodrigo had said Andrews was in critical condition. What if it was too late?

She gave his name at the front desk, claiming to be his wife, but didn’t ask any more questions. She just ran straight to the room.

When she finally walked in, her stomach turned. There he was. Lying in bed. Pale.

His dark hair fell across his forehead. No machines were hooked up to him. No visible signs of life.

For a moment, fear overtook her. Rodrigo hadn’t given details about his condition. What if...?

Aurora staggered back, her eyes brimming with tears. Andrews didn’t move and seemed like he wasn’t even breathing. His skin was so pale...

“It’s my fault... I should’ve gone home...” she whispered, collapsing into the chair beside the bed,

Chapter 92: Suspicious“Andrews...?” I murmured, my voice shaky. “Are you... awake?”But he didn’t answer. His eyes were open, yes, but clouded, distant. The sleepwalking still held him captive in his own world, as if floating between reality and dreams.I sighed, torn between worry and that new whirlwind growing inside me—warm, intense, uncontrollable. Then I felt his hand move. Slowly, his fingers slid down to the middle of my back, as if seeking shelter in me. The touch was gentle but firm enough to make me sigh involuntarily. I closed my eyes, feeling the weight of his body on mine, the warmth he radiated... and how much my body seemed to beg to stay there.I let my fingers roam over his shoulders, feeling the firmness of muscles beneath his shirt. One by one, I undid the buttons reverently, as if revealing a sacred secret only I could know. His skin was warm, alive, his heart beating beneath my palm.“Andrews...” I whispered, my nose brushing his, our lips so close that the air b

Chapter 91 – Crossing a Line with AndrewsAndrews... my mind screamed, thinking the worst. I ran and grabbed his arm—not that it would save him if he lost balance, but I wanted him to step back. His eyes were empty, his expression completely lost.“Andrews...?” I whispered, my voice trembling. He didn’t answer. He just started descending the stairs with a slowness that chilled me to the bone. It was like he was being pulled by something I couldn’t see. Something that wasn’t there. My heart started beating too fast. Fear mixed with instinct. He could fall. He could hurt himself. As he went down, I froze, watching him—there was no way I could catch him if he lost his balance.“No... not now,” I murmured, running down to reach the last step before him. “Andrews, please, you have to go back to the room...”I tried to hold his arm as gently as possible, as if he were glass about to shatter. But he ignored me. He passed right through me like I didn’t exist, walking down the hallway like a g

Chapter 90: Butterflies in the StomachThe next day. As expected… he didn’t remember.I left the room already dressed and found him near the stairs. He was, as usual, perfectly put together. His cologne spread through the hallway with a clean, sophisticated freshness. His hair was slicked back, and he looked more rested. There was something serene in his posture.I approached cautiously while he distractedly adjusted the cufflink on his blazer, which fit him like a glove. Actually, his clothes always seemed tailor-made, only enhancing his impeccable presence.I didn’t even realize how distracted I was, staring too much, until he raised an eyebrow and looked right at me.“Something wrong?” he asked, his gaze fixed on me.“Definitely…” I murmured involuntarily and then awkwardly smiled when I noticed his confused expression. “It’s nothing. Good morning, Mr. Andrews,” I replied, lowering my head with some embarrassment.“Okay… good morning.” His voice came out calm, like a sigh, and he l

Those medications... they cause deliriums, Andrews.”He let out a dry, almost bitter laugh.“This isn’t destruction. It’s survival.”“No. It’s denial.”The silence between us felt like it lasted an eternity.“You don’t have to do this,” I insisted. “I know you hate looking weak. But if you keep going like this... you’re going to lose yourself completely.”He looked me in the eyes. For a moment, I swear I saw something inside him soften. But then he looked away. As if remembering he couldn’t, or shouldn’t.“I don’t want you to pity me. Do I lo

Chapter 88: Aurora is Honest with Andrews:Aurora blinked, surprised. Her gaze locked onto his, confused, trying to understand what had changed. For a second, no words were spoken. It was as if time had stopped there, between them, on the silent staircase.“All right, then,” she murmured, breaking the silence. “I won’t insist. After all, it was over a million, and I haven’t even come close to seeing half of that in my account.” She smiled, somewhat disconcerted. “At least now… you’re becoming a fairer man.”Andrews slowly released her arm but still looked at her intensely. Aurora then continued on her way without saying more, her steps slow and thoughtful. It was at that moment that Rodrigo climbed the stairs to meet Andrews at the top and stopped in front of his friend. His eyes were tired, but there was something determined in them.“Now I’m playing fair,” Rodrigo said bluntly. “I just brought her back to the mansion… where she belongs. And maybe…” he swallowed hard, “maybe it’s the

Chapter 87: Going to Take Care of AndrewsAurora nodded, crossing her arms as she followed Rodrigo to a more secluded corner.“If this is another one of your jokes, Rodrigo, I don’t have the patience.”He sighed, running his hand through his hair.“It’s not a joke. I want to apologize... I went overboard with those gifts and everything else. I thought I could fix things my way, but I only made things worse.” He hesitated before continuing. “But that’s not the only reason I wanted to talk to you.”Aurora frowned.“So what is it?”“Things at the mansion are terrible. Andrews had another overdose. I don’t know why he’s been taking such high doses, and on top of that, he’s stubborn enough to ignore the doctors’ recommendations, even knowing the consequences of what he’s doing. He could even... die, and this time I’m not joking.”Aurora’s heart stopped for a second.“What?” Her voice came out louder than she expected.“He went to the hospital but left before getting any treatment.
