Chapter Nine

I was just lying down on the soft mattress enjoying the peaceful serenity of the room before I heard a faint knock on the door.

  "Come in" I said as the door handle was twisted and three ladies walked in,each having a smile on their face.

    "Good day ma'am, I am Sarah, this is Lana and that is maggie" the first one said to me gesturing to the others as she introduced them to me" we are your handmaids ma"

  " I looked at the girls, they were very beautiful, the first who had spoken was a little bit taller than the others and she was slender with her brunnetye hair packed  into a neat ponytail, while the other one beside her stood rigid with a very tight smile, she was full and had all her curves in the right places, her finger hair was cut short giving her a bad girl sort of look and the last stood timidly behind them,she had a light brown hair with a little freckles on her face, her hair was made into two ponytail and she look so innocent and cute,my guess would be that she is not more thant age of ten and four.

     " Hi girls!" I said as I walk toward them offering them my hand for an handshake"Am Rosy, there will be no need for such formalities since we are gonna be together for a while, hope I get to enjoy my stay here with you guys" I said as they each took my hand, the one who spoke first who I guess would be the oldest smiled at me and I could see she visibly relax " Alright Rosy,if that what you want I promise we will not let you down "She said as the others nodded in affirmation. I clapped my handa in excitement" ok!don't just stand there come take a sit, I need to get to know my friends, I said as I led them to my bed settling down and gesturing for them to do the same " so please tell me about yourselves and I shall do the same" I said.

   The cutie whose name I got to know was Maggie giggled shyly" You want to get to know us your maid?that the first" she said surprisingly as she blushed, I stared at them and saw they all had a suprise looking their face " is that gonna be a problem? And I do hope you guys won't take yourselves as my maid but my friends here in the palace" I said, the thick one who I got to know was Lana spoke before Sarah could say anything " And what will you use our information to do?...win the competition?.. I will advice you to stop being nice and....." She was cutiff by by Sarah who jabbed her with her elbow " Shutup Alana,I know you would speak without thinking that was why I ask you to let me handle these conversation" Sha said as she eyed Alana. I laughed quietly not taking offence to what she said.

    "No! Let her be Sarah, I like that she is being free with me, I do love her honesty and Alana?" I said looking at her with a smile"am not always this nice, am just nice to people who I think deserve it" I said to her as she nodded " ok with that being said , girls let know more about ourselves .

We sat down together discussing about ourselves for hours now.

  I got to know that Sarah is twenty three and she is engaged to one of the palace guard while Alana is twenty one and she is staying with her parent who also worked at the palace, her mum was a chef in the palace and her dad is one of the palace Gardener and last but not the least our little Maggie is fourteen, seems I guess wrong and she is from outside the palace but she is staying with Alana at her house since her dad was a drunkard and very abusive that was why she never went to school, she needed to work so she could fend for herself and Lana's mum being so kind got her a job here in the palace and offers to take care of her since she was a close friend to Maggie's late mother. I did told them about myself but I never included the part were my best friend or should I say ex bestfriend betrayed me, I just told them about how I needed the money ton help me my even if I don't get to be queen, which I don't mind.

  " So let get down to work" Sarah said, she was to be my dress maker while Lana is my make up artist and our little cutie keeps the place tidy " we need to prepare you for tomorrow's ball, I will need your measurement so I can work on a dress for you, since it such a short notice, I will apologize in advance if it won't be to your taste" she said as she drew her ears with her hand giving me a pout.

  I laughed at her " that won't be a problem just make something I can put on and it will be......" I stopped as it Dawn on me that I brought a dress " Wow!! I almost forgot" I exclaimed.

  Alana watch me with her hand crossed" What did you forget" she ask.

    " Oh, I brought a dress and I can definitely use it for the banquet, it will save Sarah from the stress" I said as I got up and walk to my luggage rummaging through it before I caught sight of the dress my mum had went to make for me.

  " Really? Bring it, let me see if it will be suitable and if it needs any adjustment  Sarah said excitedly.

  I brought out the dress and held it toward her as she too it 

  " Wow! It beautiful, I love the colour, you are going to look like a princess tomorrow, right Lana?" Maggie exclaimed asking Lana who rolled her eyes and muttered something about maggie being over dramatic but she still said yes,how cute. Sarah inspected the dress thoroughly before sighing in releif " The dress is amazing , I will just need your measurement to check if there will be any need for adjustment" Shar said as she hugged me" You are a life saver Rosy,Thank you. I really needed the rest"

 I smiled at her" what her friends for" I said patting her back.

    " Enough if all those cringy lovey dovey stuff" Alana said with an irritated look on her face " Everyone getout, Rosy need to have her beauty sleep" Lana said clapping her hands as she ushered them outside, while Maggie rolled her eyes muttering a small kill joy. I threw my head back and laugh at that before following them to the door and making sure it was locked. " Now time to sleep and prepare for what comes next tomorrow" I said to myself getting on my bed.
