CHAPTER 13

Derek's POV

Only a few of the Alphas knew of my predicament but all were bound by an unbreakable oath to keep it a secret. Hearing Daven hint at it only made me hate him even more.

I didn't portray my emotions something I was really good at doing. My eyes however hardened as they rested on Daven.

“How's the jaw?” I asked sarcastically. “It's a surprise it's still intact.”

Daven turned a light shade of purple. He was getting angry already but before he could make a comeback, Father cleared his throat loudly.

“Perhaps we should start right away. We both have duties to tend to.” Father spoke loud and clear.

“We'll meet again, Alpha Prince.” Daven hissed.

“Counting on it.” I smiled sarcastically and then made my way to the throne on Father's right and sat down.

“It's too early, Derek,” Father muttered lowly, loud enough for my ears only. “Don't start.”

I said nothing but my eyes followed Daven to this seat. I never liked the guy even in the past but he was now at the top of my

CHAPTER 47Derek's POVA lot of weird things had happened in life since I was just a youngling and even more so after I had met Layla, and honestly, I promised not to be surprised by anything, but sometimes I just couldn't help it.“What did you just say?” I asked the guard who had stepped forward to announce Layla's arrest.“She poisoned the Alpha King, my prince.” He replied with his hand still firmly gripping his weapon.“You must be joking!” I scoffed. I could only see my Stepmom behind this. It must have been her. She was definitely behind this, whatever it was.“No, my prince, this is not a ruse.” The guard replied. “We caught everything on camera.”“I didn't!” Layla snapped angrily. “I didn't poison anyone!”I perceived her wolf, that foul beast stirring again, awakening as a result of the threat it sensed from the guards.“Calm down, Layla, let me handle this.” I needed to keep her calm while I sorted this. “Listen to me.” I turned to the guards. “I don't know what sick game

  • The Luna Queen's Blood Oath   Chapter 46

CHAPTER 46Daven's POV“He's coming..” One of the servants whispered faintly but loud enough for my ears.Alpha Arthur immediately leaned back in his chair with a frown on his face, and a quick look around the table told me that the other Alphas were also not happy.Moments later, his steps came to our hearing shortly before the door opened, and Beta Rowan came walking in with both hands clasped behind his back.I clenched my jaw tightly in anger as he approached the table. The man's been a pest even after the Lycan Prince had left. The purpose for which I had summoned the Alphas was almost defeated.Every single time that we tried gathering to discuss, Rowan would come as if he were a bloodhound on a smell and just like that, he would put an end to our meeting even before it began.“Good morning.” Beta Rowan called as he pulled back a chair uninvited and dropped into it. “We seem to be busy today.”“Good morning, Beta Rowan.” I greeted only out of courtesy. “You're quite the early ri

  • The Luna Queen's Blood Oath   Chapter 45

CHAPTER 45Layla's POVAs if Mother Nature were reacting to my helpless and broken state, the sky slowly darkened and rumbled slightly before the first drops began to fall.I lay there on the grass with my side hurting quite badly where Derek had hit me out of anger, and tears fell freely from my eyes. Why did I do that? Why did I attack him? Did I for one second think that I'd overpower the Lycan Prince?I really didn't know why I had behaved that way, but the only thing I knew was that at that point, I was so angry and wanted to give Derek a piece of my anger! I wanted nothing more at that moment than to bite his head off!The rain began to pour in downpours now, soaking up my gown, but I still didn't move. I lay there on my side, feeling the rain wash away tears.Derek approached calmly from where he stood, watching me. From my point of view, I could only see his legs and his shoes as he came closer. I waited, expecting him to lift me, but he did nothing of the sort. He just sat d

  • The Luna Queen's Blood Oath   Chapter 44

CHAPTER 44Layla's POVImages flashed rapidly before my eyes, too complex to understand. Where was I? One moment it felt like I was swimming, and then it felt like I was floating; I just couldn't tell.“Derek… you.. must.. leave him..” Those words kept ringing in my head over and over again but I didn't know who it was that was saying them! What was happening to me?“Derek..! Leave him!”The voice sounded louder this time, and I tried to see through the mist that had gathered around me, but I couldn't see anything.“Layla! Layla, stop!” Another voice broke through but this wasn't as strong as the first. This second voice seemed to be more gentle and calmer, but where were they?!“Don't listen to her!” The second voice snapped again, and I saw her now! Malkin, except her face wasn't as beautiful as I had seen the time she appeared to me.Her face was pale white, with her eyes completely dark with black her teeth that stood out when she smiled. My eyes snapped open, and everything v

CHAPTER 43Layla's POVI quickly wheeled around to see who had grabbed me so suddenly and out of the blue, with my wolf instincts kicking in and ready to fight.“Derek?!” I snapped angrily when I saw him. “What the hell do you think you're doing?! How did you get here so fast?”He smiled weakly.“I'm sorry about this.” He said softly.I was confused. What exactly was he rambling about now? What did he mean?“What do you mean? You haven't…”Before I could conclude on my sentence, Derek moved with speed too fast for me to see what he was really doing. Before I could react to what he was doing, I felt his thumb reach behind my ear with his thumb and press down hard and fast. His fingers also pinched the space between my shoulder and neck, firm and precise. My eyes widened and I gasped before the world blacked out..***Derek's POVIt was better this way. The girl was naive and stubborn. She didn't really understand the complications behind what she was doing. There was no way I'd stand b

  • The Luna Queen's Blood Oath   Chapter 42

CHAPTER 42Layla's POVThe door opened, and there she was, Daisy. She paused for a moment, smiling brightly, before finally stepping out to join us on the balcony.“Oh, Beta Rowan. I didn't see you around today.” She cooed.“Good morning, Luna.” Rowan bowed curtly.Daisy's eyes went over Derek and then straight at me. “I was wondering if I could have a chat with Lady Orlena.” She said. I noticed Derek flash me a look, and his eyes gave me that warning look.'Don't try anything drastic.' His voice boomed loudly in my head.Quietly, both men turned and walked away, leaving me behind with Daisy.Daisy stayed quiet as Liam's and Rowan's steps receded until they finally faded into the background.Standing there with Daisy, something wild came into mind, and I suddenly felt the urge to quickly reach out and strangle the life out of her!All my life, I had thought I had a sister who would have my back, a sister I could boast of, but turns out that was a mistake! Turns out I was being a foo
