Marly POV

I finished putting the meal together, as the doorbell rang indicating the guests had arrived.  For these types of events, my parents insisted on putting on a show so I would join them for the meal.  I was to eat a minimal amount of food and only speak when spoken to.

I heard voices but could not make out who was here.  I was silently plating food, when my mother walked in behind me.  “Hurry up; everything had better be hot!” she scowled.  She hated that I would be joining them for the meal, and I knew I had to be on my best behaviour.

I carried the plates through to the dining room and almost tripped over my feet when I saw Maxwell standing there with his father, Alpha Luke.  I caught Mason’s eye, seing him smirk at my surprise.  I think looked away before I dropped the plates and placed them on the table, before returning with the final plates of food.

“Everyone, please take your seats,” my father requested.  Even though it was my father’s home, the Alpha took the seat at the head of the table.  “This meal looks lovely, Gamma female,” the Alpha stated.  Everyone knew I had prepared the meal, but we all pretended my mother did the work.

“Thank you, Alpha.  Please begin,” she encouraged as everyone started to eat.  “You are probably wondering why I wanted to visit,” the Alpha stated.  My mother and father paused their eating, waiting for the Alpha to continue.  “I have decided it is time to hand over the Red Pines Pack to Maxwell,” the Alpha shared.

Congratulations were expressed, as I held my breath.  Alphas only took over when they found their mates.  Had Maxwell shared with his father he had found his mate?  Had he decided that Maxwell would be ready with me by his side?  I felt excitement roll over me, as I considered the response my family would have.

They would be shocked at first, but then there would be excitement.  And perhaps then they would be proud of their Omega daughter taking on the role of a Luna.  The highest honor bestowed upon a she-wolf.  Although my wolf had not shown herself yet, I knew she would be spectacular.  Maybe that is what she meant when she said we were special.

Nerves filled my stomach.  Would they tell everyone now?  I had been so lost in my own thoughts, I had missed my mother speaking to me.  I felt my sister shove me, drawing my attention back to the covnerstiaon.  “Clear the table, and bring the dessert,” my mother spit out.

Embarrassed, I quickly stood and cleared the plates.  As I walked back into the kitchen, my mother was on my heels.  “What is your problem?  Have you lost your mind?  The Alpha is here requesting your help with planning the ceremony, and you completely ignored him!” my mother hissed at me.

Help plan the ceremony.  Was he testing me?  Testing my abilities.  “You will return there with the dessert and coffee and you will advise him that you would love to help plan the event.  Do you understand?” my mother demanded as she grabbed my arm in her hand.  I felt her claws slip out and pierce my skin.  There would be a bruise there shortly.

I nodded in fear of making her angrier, as she turned and left the kitchen.  I scurried around to turn the coffee on.  I plated the chocolate dream cake and was about to re-enter the dining room when Maxwell came through.  “Is there anything I can help with?” he asked.  I was so shocked and then went flush with excitement that he had come to help me.

“You could take the coffee,” I suggested shyly.  Before he did that, he moved closer to me, taking me into his arms.  “I cannot wait to be with you again,” he murmured as he teased my lips.  “What?” I asked, confused.  “You didn’t let that little thing with Cassie bother you, did you?  I just have to wait to announce you as my mate.  But soon, I will,” he promised me as his lips captured mine.

My heart was going to explode; I was going to be the next Luna of the Red Pines Pack!  Before I could think of anything else, the door slammed open and Cassie spit out, “What the fuck?!?”.

Carson POV “What? No!” I said, trying to push myself up. Marly is holding me back from standing, “Carson, please be careful,” she said, as I muttered. “You are taking him nowhere!”, I yelled, trying to convey strength in my voice. “I am sorry, Carson. You are too close to this situation,” the King replied. “And you are not?” I spit back. “Your son has been here for five minutes, and you believe him?” I demanded. Marly gasped at my words. I knew they were harsh, but I could not let them take Elder John from us. He was my advisor. He was on my side. He could not have been the traitor. “If he is so innocent, let Marly touch him,” the Queen suggested. I could now see Elder John’s face and there was a flicker of alarm, before he covered it up. His face was red, and I could see Alex was still choking him, slowly killing him. “Release him!” I commanded, but Alex continued holding his grip. Alex was definitel

  • The Lycan's Powerful Omega   Chapter 82 - Who?

Carson POV I watched as the man, Alex, leapt forward and wrapped his hand around the individual’s throat. I was still confused and could not see who had entered, but I heard the growl that came from Alex. He was in fight mode, and was pushing the individual up against the wall, lifting them so their feet were dangling. “Alex, what are you doing?” Marly screamed, as the King pushed both the Queen and Marly behind him. “He is protecting us,” the King replied, as he moved forward to support Alex. I pushed the blankets back, trying to swing my legs over the side of the bed, but it was no use. I could not move. “THEY ARE A TRAITOR!!!” Alex roared as I called for Marly to help me. With all the commotion I could not get her attention. “Alex, you have made a mistake,” Marly insisted, as Alex kept holding the individual. I could hear them gasping for air but I could not do anything to help the situation. I laid back

  • The Lycan's Powerful Omega   Chapter 81 - Returning

Marly POV I dragged myself from the bed with Carson and slowly made my way to the door. Alex glanced back and saw me trying to get to him. I tripped and closed my eyes as I prepared to hit the floor only to be caught in what felt like familiar arms. I opened my eyes, and realized I was in Alex’s arms. He had caught me. “I promise you, we can fight him,” I said to him as he helped me stand. The King turned and shut the door, as the four of us stood in the room. “How? You are weak, your mate is in a coma; how do you think we will fight the Rogue King?” he asked, disbelieving what I was saying. “I have special powers,” I said, taking a leap of faith and trusting him. He looked at me skeptically. “What do you mean?” he asked. “As a royal female wolf, I have some powers that I have only learned about,” I shared. Alex looked at me in awe, “He was right. He had said you were special,” he replied. I had a mome

  • The Lycan's Powerful Omega   Chapter 80 - Helping

Alex POV “Let me look at her,” I said far more calmly than I felt. I had never attempted to help another before. I had been able to help wounded animals, a fact I kept a secret from the Rogue King. I knew he would mock me, a wolf, for wanting to help animals. The reality was I had known I was different from a young age. I just did not know why. If what Marly was saying was true, I must have inherited this from my parents. The Rogue King has been beating at my barrier ever since we left. I knew he would be furious, but I could not have helped myself, even if I had wanted to. The warriors were strong, and I was in shock with all that I had heard from Marly. I saw her slumped on the floor. I had no idea what to do to help her, so I picked her up in my arms, and simply held her. There was a man standing off to the side, I believed to be their Beta, questioning what I was doing. “I have no idea,” I replied simply. This woman

  • The Lycan's Powerful Omega   Chapter 79 - Saving Carson

Marly POV I ran with Jeff and Sarah to the hospital. Many were trying to stop me to express their gratitude that I was home, but I could not stop. I only wanted to see Carson. To see for my own eyes what everyone else was telling me. That I would lose Carson. I felt emotion start to take over, but I stopped it immediately. Carson needed me to be strong, and I would be for both our sakes. Walking into the hospital was a somber experience. Many bowed their heads to me, as I walked past them. Nobody cheered, allowing me to understand the relevance of what I would be facing. Jeff came to stop in front of a hospital room and simply looked me in the eyes. Carson was behind that door and my heart raced at what I would find. But I needed to see for myself what was happening. I slowly pushed open the door, stepped inside the room and closed the door behind me. I leaned against the door for strength, as I lifted my eyes to look at

  • The Lycan's Powerful Omega   Chapter 78 - Escape

Marly POV It was almost midnight. The nerves in my stomach were bouncing around, almost making me ill. I had been waiting for what felt like forever, but it had not been that long. I was dressed in a black top, and black leggings which I had found in the drawers full of clothes. My hair was in a tight bun, and I had black sneakers on my feet. I did not know if I would be able to shift into Layla. I had still not heard from her, and I worried something drastic had happened. But I could not focus on that for the moment. Right now, I needed to focus on escaping. As the clock struck midnight, I heard a silent click in my room. I had been holding my breath, waiting for what I did not know. But I followed the sound to the patio door. I looked down and what was once locked, was now unlocked. I looked around outside, looking for whoever had unlocked the door but there was nobody. Was this a trick? Was I being tested by the Rogue
