“How many incidents this week?” I asked Dominic as we walked to the area of emergency.

“We stopped counting,” Dominic said with a grim expression on his face. “After three years we lost count.”

We were led to a briefing room with different screens showing all the areas the attack had taken place.

“What is the status?” Dominic asked as soon as he entered. I almost groaned inwardly as I saw Mason there. I had a sick feeling in my stomach that I was going to be seeing in more than I liked.

“A group of werewolves are wreaking havoc at Mountain Back district,” Mason said as he glared angrily at the screens.“We are trying to stop them before they reach the city districts.”

“Stop them in what way?” I asked.

“Neutralize them of course,” Mason said with a dismissive shrug.

“You kill them?” I asked in utter disbelief and looked at Dominic.

“If the situation requires us to, besides we do not want them to spread the disease.” The High Chancellor said.

“You think this is a disease?” I asked him like he had grown two freaking heads. “How did you get this job?”

“Need I remind you that you are addressing an esteemed member of the High Council!” Mason barked.

“So, I am guessing stupidity is part of the job description then?” I sarcastically replied.

“Listen to me you low level…” Mason began with a growl.

“Enough,” Dominic’s voice, although calm and low, stopped his uncle’s rant at me. “I am not here to witness a bickering; I want a solution.”

Mason’s face was a mask of rage. “We cannot let them spill into the city,” he said.

“Why?” I challenged. “Because Mountain Back District is filled with nothing but low-ranking werewolves? You don’t want them spreading their lowliness?”

“Do you have better idea?” Mason asked.

“Tranquilizers mixed with wolfbane extract, it knocks them out and reverts then back from their werewolf form.” I answered brusquely.

“See to it personally,” Dominic ordered his uncle.

“As you wish, Alpha Tertius.” Mason replied curtly and gave me one last glare before he left.

“You really should not make an enemy of my uncle,” Dominic said as soon as the High Chancellor left.

“I was not summoned here to make friends, Alpha Dominic,” I replied coldly. Friendship meant nothing here, I learned that the hard way. “And besides, you and him are not friends either.”

Dominic frowned a bit. “We are family,” he replied to me.

“But it does not mean that the two of you are on good terms,” I stated.

“How can you tell?” he asked.

“I could feel the tension between the two of you, he resents you and you have no respect for him.” I spoke.

“All that from just looking at us?” Dominic said with a smile. My heart almost fluttered from watching him. I shook my head slightly. No time for distractions.

“Body language is a form of communication, most people don’t pay much attention to it, but I do.” I said with a shrug.

Dominic sighed and closed his eye. For a flicker of a moment, I saw a regret etched on his perfect face and then it disappeared. He opened his eyes and they were clearer and more focused.

“Earlier you said that this was not a disease,” He spoke. “Explain further.” He was all business now which was a relief for me.

“Do you have the recordings of the incidents?” I asked him. He turned to a seated woman and ordered.

“Bring up all the videos of todays incidents, from the beginning.”

The woman nodded and clicked away on her keyboard.Footages of werewolves crashing out of their homes and running wild in the streets filled the multiple screens across the briefing room.

“What do you see?” I asked Dominic.

He shrugged. “Werewolves causing mayhem,” he answered.

“Yes, but look closely,” I insisted. “Look at how they are arranged, look at their formation.”

Dominic stared at the screen for a while with an intensity that made me think of Noah, his son. The boy had the same intensity as his father.

“They are twenty in number, ten males and ten females all running side by side…like they are organized.” He stated.

“Exactly, they are organized and the number is even; twenty,” I said.

“What does this mean?” Dominic looked at me for answers. His gaze still holding on to that intensity. My stomach fluttered. Why was I having these feelings?

“It means that these werewolves are Reverse Bonded,” I answered.

His facial expression became a bit uncomfortable. “Reverse Bonded.” He said to himself.

“Yes, I call it the Reverse Bonding Phenomena,” I said. “It is a situation whereby rejected mates begin forming false, unstable and violent bonds with strangers, creating rogue pairs that threaten packs and cause destruction.”

The whole briefing was quiet now and the people were watching me, some in disbelief while some with deeply worried expressions on their faces.

“So, as you can see, it is not a disease but result of an action,” I said.

“And this action is what?” Dominic asked.

“Rejection,” I said. “Werewolf bonds were never meant to be severed, it should not be governed, or controlled, because it is purely natural.” I sighed as I watched the countless footages all over again.

“But what I do not understand is why this is happening on a nation-wide scale,” I said with puzzled frown.

“So, it is not just werewolves rejecting werewolves,” Dominic stated.

I shook my head. “I cannot say for sure.” I replied. “That’s why I need to see where it started from. Then I can figure out why it started.”

“Follow me, I know where it began,” Dominic said and turned towards the exit. I followed him outside where the sun was beginning to sink. Daylight was ending.

A black Rolls Royce was waiting for him with the door opened. He waited for me to enter first and silently slid in after me.

“To the halls of residence,” he ordered the driver.

“I told you that I do not want to go to the royal hall,” I said to him.

“But that was where it began,” he said with a small sly smile.

Kieran and Asher were there. I would have no choice but to see them. It was the last thing I wanted

  • The Mate They Threw Away   11.The Weight of Truth

I watched Dominic closely as he spoke, and what I saw in his face made my chest tighten with an emotion I didn’t want to name. His expression was haunted, his eyes seeing things I couldn’t. It was as if he was standing in that moment all over again, trapped in a nightmare that refused to release him. I felt his pain radiating outward like heat from a fire, his helplessness wrapping around us both like a shroud.“They all just turned on each other,” he continued, his voice barely above a whisper now. “It was bloody. Brutal. And I couldn’t do anything to stop it.” He ran a hand through his hair, the gesture revealing more vulnerability than I’d ever seen from him. “Friends killing friends, allies tearing each other apart. It made no sense. There was no reason, no warning. One moment everything was fine, and the next…

The leather seat beneath me felt too soft, too luxurious for someone like me, someone who had sworn never to return to this forsaken place. I pressed my palms against my thighs, trying to steady the tremor that had nothing to do with the cold and everything to do with the man sitting beside me.“I can taste just how nervous you are,” Dominic said, his voice cutting through the silence like a blade through silk. The vehicle slowed as we approached the hall of residence, and my stomach twisted into knots. I turned to glare at him, refusing to let him see how right he was. Being in the presence of this Alpha was already overwhelming enough. The thought of meeting the remaining two made my skin crawl with a mixture of dread and something I refused to name.“I’m not nervous,” I shot back, my voice sharper than I intended. “I’m upset that I have to go in there.” I gestured toward the looming building ahead. “It’s a place I never thought I’d return to. Never wanted to return to.”Dominic fel

I was paralyzed with shock, then lust and finally pain. The silence was heavy in the big and ancient library. Here stood Dominic Stone, the Alpha Tertius. The warrior, the silent and fierce protector. The werewolf who had one time ago caressed my face and stroked my hair as he made crazy stupid love to me.The memories crashed through me and I felt light headed as I shivered from the unwanted images of his naked invading my mind. My knees trembled slightly and I sighed. Then came the aftermath. The rejection, the betrayal, the shunning as he turned had turned his back on me when I had needed him the most. The ache in my heart throbbed painfully and almost choked the life out of me as the memories assailed my mind. It was like I was going through everything all over again.I closed my eyes for a while to get my bearing and let the hate take over. The hatred for him and his Alphas, the hatred for his pack and the hatred for everything he stood for and represented.I was internally shock

Insanity. That was one of the side effects that took place when a bond was severed. It happened to both male and female werewolves, especially if they were of a lower rank.I had wondered why it did not affect me for years and conducted tests and research on myself until I found an answer. It was very simple. I had been marked by three powerful Alphas and their strain or seed had altered my DNA in ways that I could not even begin to describe.Apart from the constant ache in my heart, some days after the mind-blowing love making between the three Alpha’s, I felt stronger and my werewolf senses had been heightened. I could even take on werewolf who ranked higher than me. There was a sparring floor back at the sanctuary where I trained with others and I kicked ass. I got the nickname of Iron Sage, because my hits were allegedly bone-breaking.I guess I took more from the Alphas than they took from me.“Loss of reason and logic takes place after rejection, leading to spontaneous aggressi

“Let me come with you,” Javier said with contained desperation. He hated packs just as much as I did and I could feel his loyalty.“I need you to babysit,” I replied with a small smile. “Trust those bundle of joy are too much to handle.” I added as I nodded towards my Emma, Liam and Noah who were talking animatedly amongst themselves.I knew that they were nervous and worried, I could feel their fear. “And the sanctuary needs me too,” Javier said in a defeated voice. He understood. “More babysitting.”I chuckled and shook my head. “And do not teach Noah how to throw knives.” I lightly warned.“Trust me, Sage, those cubs have a way of getting what they want. They are really smart for their ages.” Javier said with pride.“Still, let us not enable them,” I replied.“You know Noah will just go to someone else, if I don’t teach him, right?” Javier said with a sly smile. “So, I think it is safer if he learns from me than some other shmuck.”“He is barely five,” I replied with a slight shake
