[Astoria’s POV]

I woke up exhausted because I barely slept last night.

For a few moments, I simply stared at the ceiling above me while my mind slowly caught up with reality. Today I will be joining a new position, a new office.

Damn.

Technically, I was still under contract with my previous company. There had been clauses and conditions buried in pages of legal jargon I had barely read before signing because back then, I had simply been desperate to get some kind of job to stay afloat.

Now I wa

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   Seek And You Shall Not Find

[Viktor’s POV]My father was predictably in his study. He was standing with his back to the door, near the French window that looked out towards the garden. He looked leaner…more fragile and it made me halt at the doorway.I knew that dad had sensed my arrival, but he didn’t turn. This room once used to be a source of comfort. Whenever Vladimir or I came in, we would be greeted by my mom sitting in the couch that still remained in the exact place, by the small bookshelf that held her favorite titles. And now…it felt like a suffocating prison.“Do you have a moment to talk?” I asked, closing the door behind me.“About what?” His voice sounded grim…almost hopeless.“About the elixir,” I replied. “All this…kidnappings or disappearences are for that very reason. I am sure of it.”The last few words were spoken with suppressed anger.I watched Dad’s shoulder tense before he turned to finally look at me. His face was pale and his gaze was…nervous. I had never seen him look at me like that.

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   Dead Ends

[Viktor’s POV]I found Sam waiting for me with a tablet in hand. His shoulders were tense as he looked at the screen. Noticing my presence, he bowed.“What did you find?” I said, closing the door behind me."We searched every place where Luna Evelyn might be," Sam began, handing me the tablet with the reports on display. “Whichever she has been to with Alpha Matthew, or where she usually goes as told by Alpha. We’ve checked surveillance where possible, and interviewed every witness who remembered seeing her."He slid several photographs toward me."There were no signs of struggle anywhere,” he continued. "No abandoned vehicle, no blood, no discarded belongings. It's as though she simply... vanished."I lowered my gaze to skim through the reports. I had complete faith on Sam when it came to investigations, so I didn’t need to double-check on the survelliance videos.Sam hesitated before taking the tablet and opening another report."We expanded the search beyond city limits after your

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   Duty over Desire

[Viktor's POV]I rested my forehead against her shoulder, my breath ragged. My fingers flexed around her waist. I could feel her heart thumping in her chest, quick and erratic.Every instinct inside me screamed to keep her in my arms and forget everything else. But the reality wouldn’t allow me such luxury. Being an alpha, a son and…a woman’s ex-fiancé meant that I had to find answers and solve this crisis to ensure a better future.Slowly, I pulled away and cupped her cheek again. Her eyes were still slightly glazed from the kiss, her breathing slightly uneven, and seeing that vulnerable expression made my heart stutter. Her gaze conveyed so many things—she trusted me, and she was already responding to the bond even though she was a human.“Stay in here, and…don’t think too much,” I murmured, stroking my thumb against the soft skin of her cheek. She blinked several times before giving a tiny nod. Her cheeks were dusted with a faint tinge of pink. She averted her gaze, obviously takin

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   Illusion or Real

[Astoria’s POV]“Morning." Matthew entered, interjecting our conversation.Viktor and I exchanged glances.Matthew looked as though he hadn't slept more than an hour. Dark circles shadowed his eyes, and the smile he offered everyone looked painfully forced.“Good morning,” I greeted nonetheless."Did you sleep well, Astoria?""I... managed," I answered honestly. His tired smile widened slightly. "I'm glad."Before he could say more, we heard footsteps and soon Aria walked in.Unlike yesterday, she wasn't smiling smugly nor did she have her arrogant stance.Instead, she moved with measured elegance before taking her seat opposite Matthew without even sparing him or us any glance.I frowned, noticing her subtly. That was odd. Did they have a fight? Or…what in the world happened that her behaviour was so different from today morning?Matthew quietly poured himself coffee, though I noticed he never once looked directly at Aria. I felt tiny bit happy because at least he hadn’t fogotten my

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   Hunting

[Astoria's POV]For the first time after what seemed to be a long time, I woke up without the sound my phone alarm going off, but I also couldn’t tell if I had slept for long.Sleep had evaded me for a long time last night, and somewhere between wondering where Mom was and what her identity was, I had fell asleep.I didn’t want to get up though because that would mean facing reality.Eventually, I forced myself out of bed. There was no point in lazying in bed either when my mother was missing and I needed answers that would definitely not pop up in this room. After taking a quick shower and changing into a soft beige bell-sleved top and dark jeans, I tied my hair into a loose ponytail before making my way downstairs. The estate felt strangely subdued, as in eerily calm. Unlike my first stay here, there were no servants chatting quietly in the corridors or distant laughter drifting in from another room. However, the scent of coffee hit my nose. I followed the familiar scent until I rea

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   Turmoil

[Astoria’s POV]The ride back to Blackstone Estate felt impossibly longer than the journey into the city that morning. My hands remained clasped tightly in my lap while Viktor’s attention remained fixed on the road. After all the information and practically making me doubt my mother’s affection, he seemed nonchalant, as if the information was just another weather update. As the gilded gates opened up to let the car in, my heartbeat sped up. The thought of suddenly meeting Viktor’s mother, whom I would now no doubt see in a new light, made my palms feel clammy.“Don’t behave like you know and are terrified, because whoever this woman posing as my mother is, she isn’t a kind creature,” Viktor said as if reading my mind while he maneuvered the car down the driveway. When we entered, the house itself seemed quieter than usual. For some reason, I felt the hair at the back of my neck rise.“Is it colder than usual?” I muttered.“No,” Viktor answered.I was about to say more when Matthew wal

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   Something I Shouldn’t Feel

[Astoria’s POV]A part of me berated my thoughts earlier. It wasn’t like I was a wallflower. I had received a fair share of attention before, even after getting into a relationship with Shawn. I understood what certain looks meant, and Viktor had felt like that.Attention. Intense attention and may

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   The Other Brother

[Astoria’s POV]I found myself in a sleek black car, the model was high-end, which spoke enough about The Romeros’ status. The car had been discreetly parked so as not to draw attention to strangers. The warmth of the car was almost overwhelming after the cold night air. A chauffeur had put in my s

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   The Man Who Knew My Name

[Astoria’s POV]For a few moments, I just stared at him.Looking for me? What did he mean?I looked at his outstretched hand holding the coffee cup. While the beverage would help, I wasn’t going to take it from a random starnger no matter how handsome he was.“Uh? Why?” I asked reluctantly. The man

  • The Moon Marked Him As Mine   The Night it All Fell Apart

[Astoria’s POV]I had always imagined that when my heart breaks, it would be loud, with me being hysterical. I hadn’t imagined it to be draining and some what relieving. That evening, I was exhausted. Work had taken out every ounce of energy from me, and all I wanted was to return home, change into
