CHAPTER TEN
LIAM'S POV
I felt unspeakably provoked seeing Kieran sitting beside Luna and also holding her hand. What was the meaning of that? Isn't he aware that she's getting married to my cousin in a short time from now? Of course, he had listened to the conversation we had last night, so why is he acting as though he doesn't know about it?
My face screwed up in anger, but with the way Luna is, I knew I had to force a smile onto my face so that she wouldn't start thinking otherwise.
I walked closer to her and forged a weak smile, "Sorry I was frowning some minutes ago; I was just disappointed in myself that I couldn't save you."
Then Kieran stood up from the bed and let go of her hands.
"Thanks for saving Luna," I told him.
"You've said that before; why are you repeating it?" he asked me.
For goodness sake, can't this guy play along? I want Luna to see that I care for her, and even though he's right that I've said that before, saying you're welcome isn't supposed to be a big deal to him.
"I just feel like telling you another thank you for saving Victor's to-be mate," I told him.
If this is going to get on his nerves, I don't care. I'll definitely make sure I find out if these two are dating.
"How about the investigation?" Kieran asked me.
"The corpse of one of the werewolves that attacked her was in the woods; you did it right?" I asked him.
"I saved her, but you should be disappointed in your warriors for not being able to keep an eye on Luna," Kieran told me.
He's right anyway; I should be disappointed in them, but on second thought, she would have informed me that she was leaving the palace. Why didn't she tell me? Where was she even heading to at that time of night? Not only was it damn late, but she was also going through that route knowing diverse rogues would be hunting at that time.
"They said they didn't know when she left the palace; I didn't see her either," I said.
Then he gave a low hiss, "I don't think that's an excuse." His voice was laced with untold annoyance; what's his problem?
"I'm not saying it's an excuse; learn to talk to me with respect," I told him sternly.
"What if something had happened to her? Would we have been talking about respect?" Kieran countered.
"It's okay, guys," Luna intervened.
I turned my gaze to meet hers. "You shouldn't start a quarrel with each other," she said weakly. "It's my fault; I didn't tell anyone I was leaving."
"You don't need to put the blame on yourself either," I told her.
"Alright," she said.
"Where were you going to?" I asked her. There's something Luna is hiding with the fact that she was going through that route.
That route leads to two places: Wetlands Pack and also the place of the great witch Zena, so which did she intend to go to?
"I was going nowhere; I just wanted to catch some air alone in the woods," she told me. She's lying; there are obviously many woods around our pack that she could have gone to if that was what she wanted. Why that one?
"Was that the best place to catch some air, Luna?" I demanded.
"Stop asking probing questions; she's already told you her purpose for going there!" Kieran spat coldly.
"Why are you two sounding so harsh to each other?" Luna asked.
"It's fine anyway; Kieran is just not okay with the fact that I'm asking too many questions," I said, then turned to him. "But there's nothing bad about me asking these questions," I told him.
"You're just being too possessive!" he told me flatly.
Being too possessive? What's he insinuating? Is he trying to poison Luna's mind against me?
"How am I being possessive?" I asked him, then took two quick steps toward him, then he folds his fists into balls. "Are you going to fight me?"
"Kieran," Luna called out to him.
"I'm not going to fight you; you're my cousin, and that's it, right?" I told him.
"Is something going on between the two of you?" Luna curiously asked us, her curiosity getting the better of her.
"Nothing is going on between the two of us," Kieran said calmly. I know he's just pretending to be calm.
"What about Victor?" Luna asked me. Of course, I'd given him a call some minutes ago to be here, but till now, he hadn't come. Can't he show some sign that he does care for her? They'll be getting married in a short while, and so he's supposed to be trying to win her heart.
"He's going to be here in a short while," I assured her.
"Okay," she nodded.
"I'll be back in a short while," I said and made my leave.
I'm going to go meet Victor, and when I get to his house, I'll give him a punch on the face, and that would be for not listening to me. He's supposed to be here many hours ago.
I decided to drive by myself, and in a few minutes, my car pulled to a stop. I knocked at his door, but there was no response, so I came into his living room. I looked around, but he wasn't here, not until I heard a noise from the kitchen.
I walked to the kitchen, and Victor was holding a kettle and pouring hot water into a cup; his back was to me. He wasn't wearing a shirt, except for black pants. My eyes widened when I saw diverse injuries on his back. Bloodstains were still on the fresh open wounds; what happened to him? Was he attacked?
CHAPTER NINETEEN LUNA'S POVAfter the incident with Victor, the next day, I left the palace and headed back to my birth Pack, where I'm to resume my duty of taking care of the Prime cub. The drive back to my birth Pack was a long one, but after what looked like eternity, I arrived there. After doing some cleaning, I heard a knock at the door. I opened the door, and I was surprised to see Dylan standing in front of me. How did he manage to know that I was no longer in Stone Prime? "Hi, come in," I said, slightly surprised. "You came back," he said while walking inside the house. "You know I'm the caretaker of the Prime cub; I'm supposed to come back here," I reminded him."Yeah, I know," he shrugged his shoulders and sat down on the couch. "What do you care for: a glass of wine, water, or something else?" I offered. "I'm okay, I just need to have a brief conversation with you," he told me. My hands were wet from the cleaning, so I said, "I'll be back in a minute." I walked int
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN VICTOR'S POV"Victor, let go of me. What's the meaning of this?" She asked me, feeling irritated. "Come on..." I tried speaking, but she cut me off. "Victor, get your damn hand off me!" She commanded, and then I decided to let go of her hands. "What the fuck was wrong with you?" I heard Xander, my wolf, scream inside my head. Goddamnit! Why couldn't I control myself? I shouldn't be the one to spoil things for myself. What should I do now? I know what she'll be thinking now, and if I eventually allow her to walk down that door, she might decide not to go on with the union. I shouldn't let that happen. Just as she pulled the handle of the door, I pushed it back, and it closed. I stood in front of the door when she asked, "Victor, what has come over you?" She asked me, very much provoked, though she's trying hard not to raise her voice. "I'm sorry, Luna. I don't know what came over me," I told her calmly. "You should be sorry for yourself!" She said coldly. "I
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN AUTHOR'S POV "You shouldn't bother about me, you're the only medicine I need to get better," he told her.His face is close to Luna and he he's still holding her tightly on her waist as though she was going to run away if he let go of her."Please," he told her and she could feel his breath on her face. But she isn't ready for this."Let's do this some other day," she told him."I want it now, let's have sex together, " he said in a commanding tone." Was this what he really wanted?" Luna mused. She's not going to have sex with him until their wedding night and if he isn't okay with it, he should forget about it."Not now, Victor, not now!" She told him."Not now? Then when?" He asked her slightly provoked."You have to wait until our wedding night." She told him."Our wedding night?" He said with a disparaging smile on his lips. "Why our wedding night? Luna, stop acting like a virgin!" He told her.She couldn't believe her ears. What has come over him?Embarrasse
CHAPTER SIXTEEN LUNA POVCould he possibly be hiding something from me? He was attacked last night, and I was also attacked; there's more to this than meets the eye. Kieran told me he had followed me to the woods only to meet those guys trying to kill me. Though before I fully lost consciousness, I felt the presence of another werewolf fighting the others; I was just too weak, and at that instant, I became unconscious. I'm not trying to justify Kieran or judge him either; if Victor is telling me he got attacked last night, then it only means he was the one behind the attack."I'm still trying to find out why I got attacked the same day you did. I guess the person who did this to you also tried to hurt me." He told me walking to where I am and sitting down beside me on the couch. "Victor I don't really know who to believe, I don't know if I should believe you or Kieran I don't know who's fucking lying to me now.." I told him. I feel this entire family is making a fool out of me. "C
CHAPTER FIFTEEN VICTOR POVI was able to successfully convince Luna that Kieran was responsible for her attack, and that's what made me happy. I had wanted to leave the palace to meet with Ferdinand's mother, at least to extend my condolences, but I changed my mind. I wanted to be here to monitor things myself so that Kieran wouldn't come in and spoil everything. I knew Luna was mad at him and wasn't ready to talk to him, but things can change in a minute, and I'd have everything backfiring on me. I didn't want to make a silly mistake that I'd regret, so I'd stay right here in the palace until the day of the wedding. My initial plan was to convince her to accept that the wedding holds tomorrow but she refused it and I don't know why she's afraid of allowing the wedding to hold.I know Kieran must have told her something and that's the reason why she's objecting. That bastard is controlling and manipulative. But one thing is sure, I'll have to personally teach him a lesson. I'll make
CHAPTER FOURTEEN LUNA POV It's like I've been stabbed in the back. Kieran, of all people, is the one who tried to kill me. This is painful, and I now believe that it's not the stab in the back that kills, but when you turn around to see who's holding the knife. I know something was definitely wrong as at when I regained consciousness and discovered that Kieran was the one who'd saved me. Was that his plan? To make me feel like he truly cares for me? Or maybe he did all that so I'd fall for him. But even now, Kieran hasn't told me he has feelings for me. What does he really want from me? I know his plan isn't good because if he truly loves me, he wouldn't have thought of hurting me as a way to make me fall for him. Something's definitely wrong here.I didn't want any more explanations from him, as he's obviously going to tell me another lie. I screamed at him, and he walked out of the room. I don't want to ever see his face again. He's nothing but a betrayer. Now I know he got what h
