CHAPTER NINE

AUTHOR'S POV

Just as he left the palace in annoyance, Kieran decided to head back to the hotel where he was staying, but something in his mind wouldn't let him go. He sat down on a fallen log in a dark spot, with many thoughts flooding his mind.

Part of him was troubled by the fact that Luna was in trouble, as he knew for sure that Liam's intention for Luna marrying Victor wasn't for a good reason. Though he'd tried his best to talk Luna out of it, he knew she didn't believe him, since he had no evidence to support his claim.

Even though he had nothing to convince her with, the fact remained that Liam was nothing but a cunning bastard. He knew him to be deceitful - he never offered help without wanting something in return. Wanting her to marry Victor to strengthen the Pack's bloodline was a blatant lie.

"I'm never going to watch Luna marry Victor, never!" he said to himself, when he saw someone moving in the dark. The body structure looked like Luna's, and as he watched from a corner, he soon saw her clearly.

Where was she going at this time of night?

He'd wanted to call her to demand to know where she was going, but he changed his mind. It was best if he followed her without her knowledge.

He kept following her, hiding from tree to tree so she wouldn't see him. As he followed her deep into the woods, he accidentally kicked a metal object, making a loud noise that caught Luna's attention. She stopped and turned around, asking, "Is anybody there?"

He hid, remaining silent.

"Hello!" she called out, suspecting that someone was following her.

When no one responded, she concluded that no one was following her and continued on her way.

Still following her, he saw some wolves suddenly appear in front of Luna. Knowing they were about to attack, he rushed to rescue her, but someone pushed him from behind, sending him tumbling into a pit filled with water.

As he emerged from the water, he looked around to see who had pushed him, but there was no one in sight. Then, he heard a sound and looked ahead, only to see Luna fallen to the ground.

Furious, he shifted into his wolf form and fought the wolves. They attacked fiercely, but he was stronger. He tore apart one of the wolves, and seeing that one was dead, the remaining two fled. He wanted to pursue them, but he realized he needed to get Luna to safety so she wouldn't die.

With that, he let them go and carried her to the palace, where she was placed in the infirmary. A doctor administered treatment, and while the medical staff worked, Kieran paced back and forth, praying to the moon goddess that nothing would happen to Luna.

***

After hours of being unconscious, Luna's eyes opened, and she looked around, realizing she was in the infirmary.

How did she get here? she wondered.

She sat up in bed and felt a sharp pain in her head, noticing a bandage. Trying to recall everything, she remembered being attacked by werewolves and losing consciousness after a blow to her head. Who brought her here? Before she could ponder further, the infirmary door opened, and Kieran walked in.

Various bruises marked his face, and Luna couldn't help but wonder how he'd gotten them.

"Why am I here?" she demanded. He moved closer, took her hand, and asked, "Are you okay?"

"A bit, but what happened to me?" she asked.

Still disoriented, she wondered if she was dreaming.

"Who brought me here?" she asked.

"You were attacked by werewolves," he said calmly.

"I know, but I don't know how I got here," she replied.

"I brought you here," he said.

Surprised, she asked, "How did you know I was there?"

He sat beside her bed and explained, "I saw you when you left the palace."

"You saw me leave?" she asked, incredulous.

"Yes, I did," he said.

"How?" she pressed.

"No one knew I was leaving," she added.

"I did," he said simply.

"But you left," she said, raising confused brows.

"I wanted to return to the hotel but changed my mind and waited," he explained.

"You knew I was going to leave the palace?" she asked, puzzled.

He took a deep breath and said, "No, I didn't know you were going to leave."

Then she changed the subject, "Who were they?"

"I don't know, but Liam is investigating," he replied. "I killed one, and the others fled," he added.

"I can tell they came for me," she told him. The attack wasn't coincidental, and she knew someone might be after her life.

"How sure are you?" he asked her. Not that he was surprised, considering how someone had pushed him into the pit of water; he knew the plan was well-orchestrated.

"I know they came for me, but I still don't know how they managed to know I was leaving the palace," she said, worry lines etched on her forehead.

"Where were you going?" he asked her. "You know it's very risky following that route at night," he reminded.

"I know, Kieran, but that's not the point. The point is, who could it be that was trying to kill me?" she demanded.

"We'll find out soon," he assured her.

"I don't feel safe anymore," she told him.

" Just calm down, everything is going to be fine," he told her.

"How can I calm down when someone is out there hunting me?" she asked him.

"You're just regaining consciousness; you don't need to stress yourself mentally. We'll figure this out soon," he assured her.

At that moment, the door clicked open, and Liam stepped in.

Luna felt a chill run down her spine as she saw the look on his face.

CHAPTER NINETEEN LUNA'S POVAfter the incident with Victor, the next day, I left the palace and headed back to my birth Pack, where I'm to resume my duty of taking care of the Prime cub. The drive back to my birth Pack was a long one, but after what looked like eternity, I arrived there. After doing some cleaning, I heard a knock at the door. I opened the door, and I was surprised to see Dylan standing in front of me. How did he manage to know that I was no longer in Stone Prime? "Hi, come in," I said, slightly surprised. "You came back," he said while walking inside the house. "You know I'm the caretaker of the Prime cub; I'm supposed to come back here," I reminded him."Yeah, I know," he shrugged his shoulders and sat down on the couch. "What do you care for: a glass of wine, water, or something else?" I offered. "I'm okay, I just need to have a brief conversation with you," he told me. My hands were wet from the cleaning, so I said, "I'll be back in a minute." I walked int

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN VICTOR'S POV"Victor, let go of me. What's the meaning of this?" She asked me, feeling irritated. "Come on..." I tried speaking, but she cut me off. "Victor, get your damn hand off me!" She commanded, and then I decided to let go of her hands. "What the fuck was wrong with you?" I heard Xander, my wolf, scream inside my head. Goddamnit! Why couldn't I control myself? I shouldn't be the one to spoil things for myself. What should I do now? I know what she'll be thinking now, and if I eventually allow her to walk down that door, she might decide not to go on with the union. I shouldn't let that happen. Just as she pulled the handle of the door, I pushed it back, and it closed. I stood in front of the door when she asked, "Victor, what has come over you?" She asked me, very much provoked, though she's trying hard not to raise her voice. "I'm sorry, Luna. I don't know what came over me," I told her calmly. "You should be sorry for yourself!" She said coldly. "I

But she isn't ready for this."Let's do this some other day," she told him."I want it now, let's have sex together, " he said in a commanding tone." Was this what he really wanted?" Luna mused. She's not going to have sex with him until their wedding night and if he isn't okay with it, he should forget about it."Not now, Victor, not now!" She told him."Not now? Then when?" He asked her slightly provoked."You have to wait until our wedding night." She told him."Our wedding night?" He said with a disparaging smile on his lips. "Why our wedding night? Luna, stop acting like a virgin!" He told her.She couldn't believe her ears. What has come over him?Embarrasse

CHAPTER SIXTEEN LUNA POVCould he possibly be hiding something from me? He was attacked last night, and I was also attacked; there's more to this than meets the eye. Kieran told me he had followed me to the woods only to meet those guys trying to kill me. Though before I fully lost consciousness, I felt the presence of another werewolf fighting the others; I was just too weak, and at that instant, I became unconscious. I'm not trying to justify Kieran or judge him either; if Victor is telling me he got attacked last night, then it only means he was the one behind the attack."I'm still trying to find out why I got attacked the same day you did. I guess the person who did this to you also tried to hurt me." He told me walking to where I am and sitting down beside me on the couch. "Victor I don't really know who to believe, I don't know if I should believe you or Kieran I don't know who's fucking lying to me now.." I told him. I feel this entire family is making a fool out of me. "C

CHAPTER FIFTEEN VICTOR POVI was able to successfully convince Luna that Kieran was responsible for her attack, and that's what made me happy. I had wanted to leave the palace to meet with Ferdinand's mother, at least to extend my condolences, but I changed my mind. I wanted to be here to monitor things myself so that Kieran wouldn't come in and spoil everything. I knew Luna was mad at him and wasn't ready to talk to him, but things can change in a minute, and I'd have everything backfiring on me. I didn't want to make a silly mistake that I'd regret, so I'd stay right here in the palace until the day of the wedding. My initial plan was to convince her to accept that the wedding holds tomorrow but she refused it and I don't know why she's afraid of allowing the wedding to hold.I know Kieran must have told her something and that's the reason why she's objecting. That bastard is controlling and manipulative. But one thing is sure, I'll have to personally teach him a lesson. I'll make

CHAPTER FOURTEEN LUNA POV It's like I've been stabbed in the back. Kieran, of all people, is the one who tried to kill me. This is painful, and I now believe that it's not the stab in the back that kills, but when you turn around to see who's holding the knife. I know something was definitely wrong as at when I regained consciousness and discovered that Kieran was the one who'd saved me. Was that his plan? To make me feel like he truly cares for me? Or maybe he did all that so I'd fall for him. But even now, Kieran hasn't told me he has feelings for me. What does he really want from me? I know his plan isn't good because if he truly loves me, he wouldn't have thought of hurting me as a way to make me fall for him. Something's definitely wrong here.I didn't want any more explanations from him, as he's obviously going to tell me another lie. I screamed at him, and he walked out of the room. I don't want to ever see his face again. He's nothing but a betrayer. Now I know he got what h
