Doubt

CHAPTER ELEVEN 

LIAM'S POV 

For a while, I still gazed at the injuries, dumbfounded, when he broke the silence. "What are you staring at?" he asked and turned to me. He raised the cup close to his mouth and added, "I saw your message, but I chose not to come." 

"Why?" I asked him. 

"I just decided not to," he said. I saw a slight cut on his neck like a piercing; could it be that he was the one who attacked Luna?

"Victor, tell me the truth. What happened to you, and how did you get all these bruises on your body?" I asked him, still skeptical. 

"Don't worry about this; it's normal," he shrugged his shoulders. "And what happened to Luna?" 

His evasive behavior was making me uneasy, and I was beginning to suspect he was hiding something from me. 

"She got attacked last night," I told him, looking concerned. 

"What was she doing at that time of night? In the woods?" he asked back. 

"You know she was in the woods?" I asked him. 

"I'm just asking," he shrugged his shoulders. 

"Don't make me angry!" I yelled at him. 

"Stop shouting at me! I'm going through a lot already, and I don't want more to be added!" he countered. 

"Victor, don't make me angry," I repeated. 

"Yes, I did," he told me, and I became surprised. 

"You attacked her?" I demanded. 

"Yes I did," he admitted without betting an eyelid.

"Why?" I asked him.

"Why wouldn't I?" he asked back. 

Goddamnit! 

So he's the one who attacked Luna? How could he? "Is this some kind of a damn joke?!" I asked him, enraged. 

"She knows she's getting married to me, so what does she have in common with Kieran?" he fired back. "Is she playing games with me? She shouldn't even think of it." 

So he decided to harm Luna because of jealousy. Why's he this stupid?

"She and Kieran have nothing in common; even if they did, was that a reason to harm her?" I demanded. 

"I shouldn't have done that, but I was jealous since she was with Kieran in the woods," he told me, and I was surprised even more. She was with Kieran? 

What on earth!

"She was with Kieran in the woods?" I asked back. Then he dropped the cup he was holding on the counter and walked out of the kitchen; I followed him from behind. "Come on, man, talk to me!" I screamed. 

"She was with that bastard in the woods, and I guess they were heading somewhere," he told me. 

"You're just assuming things; things ain't done that way," I said. 

"To hell with this bullshit!" he told me and walked closer to me, so I could feel his breath on my face. "You're just allowing those people to fool you," he said. 

What's he talking about? I'm just allowing them to fool me, how? 

"I don't get you," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. 

"Have you even thought that the route she was taking leads to two places: Wetlands Pack and the shrine of Witch Zena? So the question is, if she was going to Wetlands Pack, what did she intend to do? And also, if she was going to the shrine of Witch Zena, what was she going there to do?" he said. 

He's making sense. Not that it didn't cross my mind; I just didn't want anything to bother me. 

"I asked her, and she only told me that she was trying to catch some air," I told him. 

Then he sighed, "So you believe that lie?" 

"I didn't say that I believe it, but Kieran wouldn't even allow me to ask more questions," I complained. 

"I'll definitely teach that bastard a lesson," he said, very much provoked. I sat down on the couch. 

"He killed my best friend," he told me.

"Which of your best friends?" I asked him. 

"Ferdinand," he said, very bitter. 

"Ferdinand?!" I asked back in disbelief. 

"Yes," he said. 

"How did it happen?" I asked him.

"At 10:27 pm, one of my guys called me and said they saw Luna leaving the palace. Without hesitating, I came out of the bar, and we followed her. At a certain point, I instructed him to take the right while I took the left, and surprisingly, I saw Kieran; it seemed like he was urinating. 

I knew Luna was waiting for him, and without hesitating, I pushed him into a pit and shifted into my wolf form and attacked Luna. Kieran joined the fight, and I didn't even know he was that strong. Immediately, he pierced me with his claws on my neck, and seeing that I was bleeding and that Ferdinand was dead, I ran away with Rodney." He explained.

"Where do you think she was going?" I asked him. 

"I know she was going to meet with Witch Zena; she wants to know the reason for the marriage," he told me. 

"Hmm..." I hummed. 

"I want the marriage to be rushed," he told me. 

"She's asking to be given more time," I told him. 

"Force her," he told me. 

"That's not going to be possible. You have your role to play, and I expect you to do it," I told him.

"Which role?" he asked me. 

"Be nice to her, and you shouldn't have hurt her that much. I hope Kieran didn't know it was you?" I asked him.

"I doubt it," he said.

"I already told Luna that you're coming; let's go meet her and you should try to make her happy," I advised him. 

"What about Kieran?" he asked me. 

"Leave him to me; I'll handle him myself," I told him. 

It seems like Kieran is trying to be an obstacle, but I wouldn't let that be!
