For a moment, silence fell between all of us.

Even Ara and Suzan, usually so quick to fill the air with chatter, stood reverently still, their gazes lowered as if in silent respect.

I looked once more at Keala's face; she seemed so calm, so deceptively peaceful. But beneath that stillness was a storm I could almost sense, a fire waiting to awaken.

And in that moment, I made a quiet promise to myself.

"When she wakes," I whispered, "I'll be here. And I'll thank her myself."

Remi's lips curved in the faintest of smiles. "She would like that, my Queen. She respects honesty. She'll respect you."

I wasn't sure whether those words brought me comfort or unease. But I nodded, resolute.

As we left the room, I cast one last glance over my shoulder. Keala remained still, untouched by our presence, her beauty and strength suspended in that fragile sleep.

After Remi quickly examined my condition and found nothing she should be worried about, I finally excused myself.

"Alright, I will return to t

My hand clenches, curious and worried to hear Keala answer. I could see her eyes darting wildly, as if shadows lingered in every corner of the room. Then, her trembling lips formed words that made my stomach drop. Her lips tremble as she says, "I... I failed… him." Her voice shakes. Confusion shot through me. "Who?" My voice trembled. "Who did you fail?"Her gaze locked onto mine, filled with anguish and despair. Her chest heaved, ragged breaths scraping her throat. "His Highness…"Instantly, I felt like the world seemed to stop."Veldrin?" I whispered. She flinched at his name, closing her eyes as tears streaked her pale skin. "I couldn't… protect…"Her words really confuse me, "Protect who? Veldrin? Protect him from what?"Her lips trembled, her whole body shivering with effort. “Danger… coming… shadows…” Her voice fractured, but the terror in her eyes was unmistakable.Remi rushed forward, her tone sharp. "Keala, stop it, you can't handle this." She holds Keala back against the p

Remi's expression changed instantly. I can see the playful curve of her lips stilled, her eyes flickering with something more profound. But whatever it is, it is something she didn't want me to see. For a heartbeat, I thought she might avoid answering me. But then she smiled again, calm, reassuring, as though she could cover her worry with practiced calmness. "Everything is alright, Your Highness... She will wake very soon." Her smile didn't quite reach her eyes, and I could tell she was only trying to reassure me. I wanted to believe her. I really did. But the unease in her voice slipped through no matter how carefully she tried to hide it."Sister Remi, but why is she looking like she doesn't have a chance..." Ara started, her voice tinged with curiosity."Ara!" Suzan hissed, shooting her a glare sharp enough to slice her. I couldn't help the smile flashing on my lips. Ara's curiosity was endless, like a child always asking, but this time, she voiced my concern.Still, Remi an

Still, underneath Kyrex's sarcasm, there was truth. He was right. I couldn't force my wolf out, not now. My wolf wasn't silent out of cruelty but out of protection. She guarded our pup fiercely, even if it meant it would make me feel useless.Kyrex's voice softened, just slightly. "Maybe after you give birth, your wolf will come out. Be patient, Rissa. You're not less because of this. And Veldrin doesn't see you as weak, no matter what nonsense you tell yourself."I looked at him and felt my heart swell with gratitude. I was surprised by the sincerity behind his words. Then, of course, he spoiled it."Also, you should eat more," Kyrex added lazily. "Your stomach growled so loud just now, I'm pretty sure half the forest heard it. Ah, maybe Veldrin in the castle will rush to come here..."Heat rushed to my cheeks. I was speechless. "It did not!" I protest. "Oh, it did," Kyrex said, feigning seriousness. "In fact, I think a nearby pack of deer just fled for their lives. Very intimidati

"Of Keala—" I whispered, watching his expression freeze."Rissa..." His voice was low, almost broken. "There's nothing between me and her. She is a warrior, yes, but I have nothing to do with her. I never pictured myself with her. Not even in my thoughts. You can ask Kyrex if you don't believe me."I blinked, startled. Veldrin's golden eyes burned with worry, but not the kind he usually carried when preparing to face enemies or protect the kingdom. This was different. This was fear of me, fear I might doubt him, fear I might walk away."I will call Kyrex out now..." he began."Veldrin," I stopped him quickly, clutching his hand and shaking my head. "No. No. Don't call Kyrex. I trust you, Veldrin..."His brow furrowed, tension still in his shoulders, but his eyes softened slightly. "You trust me, but… You said you were jealous of Keala?"Instead of answering directly, laughter bubbled out of me. I couldn't help it. The great Lycan King panicked because his Queen said the word "jealou

Remi nodded. "Yes, my Queen, she rests in that room. Sleeping, though her body fights every moment to recover."My eyes landed on the tightly closed door. Without thinking, I stood from my seat and moved closer, instinctively, my steps drawn toward the door. A part of me wanted to see her, this warrior who had given so much, who had nearly lost everything protecting the very forest I now called home. But another part of me hesitated, as though peeking into that room would make the patient in danger. I turned back to Remi. "Will she wake?"Remi's face softened, her voice gentler now. "Yes, my Queen. She is strong. I believe with all my heart that she will open her eyes again. It may take time, but she will return to us."I exhaled slowly, relief threading through my chest.Ara, unable to hold back her curiosity, blurted, "Is she as fearsome as the stories say?"Suzan elbowed her sharply. "Ara!"But Remi only gave a faint smile. "Fearsome, yes. But loyal and kind beneath it. She
