Chapter 1

Author: Little High
The moment I said it, my parents, Robert and Camille Foster, stared at me like I'd lost my mind.

But my aunt, Mallory Foster's eyes lit up. She rushed over and grabbed my hand tightly. "Reed, are you serious? I've been thinking that stock was going to go up too!"

I had no expectation that Mom and Dad would listen to me and invest their money in it. Frankly, I didn't want them making a dime off it.

However, Aunt Mallory was different.

She'd seen the stock's potential six months ago. Yet every time she was about to invest, someone would talk her out of it. In the end, she'd spent almost all the money she'd saved for her wedding on Preston's private elementary school tuition instead.

By the time she realized just how much money the stock could make, she had nothing left to invest. She regretted it for the rest of her life.

Mom came over and smacked me across the back of the head.

"Reed! Feed Preston! All you do is sit around thinking up this nonsense instead of doing something useful. If we hadn't gotten stuck supporting you, we wouldn't need some stock to get rich!"

I glared at my overfed little brother, Preston Foster. He was so huge that one of his arms looked thicker than my thigh.

Somehow, even though I was only a few months older than him, I was expected to practically raise him.

Mom and Dad had bought me because they'd been unable to have a child of their own. But I hadn't been the healthy kid the traffickers had promised them. I was constantly sick after they brought me home, costing them a lot of money. They'd already resented me for that.

Then, just a few months later, Mom got pregnant with Preston.

From that moment on, I became the family's servant. Almost every cent they had went toward him, yet somehow I was the burden.

Preston was given a respectable name because he was the hope of the entire family. Meanwhile, they saddled me with a humiliating nickname and made me the butt of every joke.

And all because of one joke Preston made, I would eventually have my leg beaten until it broke and become the family's scapegoat.

Why?

Why should I have to suffer for any of this?

If I'd been given another chance at life, then this time, I was going to make them pay.

"I'm telling the truth. I had a dream last night that the stock would go up thirtyfold. Don't we have more than $10,000 saved? If you invest it, we'll get $300,000 back!"

$10,000 was an enormous amount of money for an ordinary family back then. It had taken Mom and Dad seven or eight years to scrape together that much, and they'd been saving every penny to send Preston to the best private elementary school they could afford.

The looks on their faces changed instantly.

Dad kicked me to the floor. "You little prick! How the hell do you know we have $10,000? Tell me! Have you been stealing from us? I knew some of it seemed to be missing!"

I didn't even get a chance to explain before his fists started coming down on me. Blow after blow left my head spinning.

It was always like this. Whenever they wanted to hit me, all they had to do was invent some crime I'd supposedly committed.

Sometimes they didn't even bother with that. They just used me to vent their anger.

Mom made no attempt to stop him. Instead, she scooped Preston into her arms. "See how awful Reed is? He's barely more than a kid himself, and he's already after your money! That money is for your education and your wedding someday!"

Preston was too young to understand what $10,000 actually meant. "How much is $10,000?"

"Hmm... enough to buy you a whole room full of lollipops!"

Preston understood that. His face twisted with rage, and he ran over and kicked me several times. "You little mean boy! You stole my money! Beat him to death!"

Aunt Mallory tried to come to my defense, but my grandmother, Cecelia Foster, yanked her back.

"He'll never learn if we don't beat some sense into him. He's already trying to walk all over Preston!"

That was when I suddenly began convulsing and crawling strangely across the floor.

Even Dad was startled enough to stop hitting me.

Then I rolled my eyes back and declared in an eerie voice, "I'm a miracle child who can see the future! If you don't believe me, you're going to pay for it!"

I heard that Dad nearly beat Preston to death, just like he'd done to me in my previous life.Mom and Grandma Cecelia fought desperately to protect him, so he survived, but one of his legs was still broken.Apparently, Dad only loved his biological son when it suited him. What he truly loved was his money. Anyone who cost him money could become a target, even his own son.How pathetic. After that, I moved in with Aunt Mallory and Grant for good. They treated me like their own son. For the first time in my life, I knew what it felt like to be truly loved. They spoiled me like a little prince. On my first day in their home, I asked Aunt Mallory why she'd believed me so completely."Because I was reborn too. In my previous life, I spent that entire day at the stock exchange. I watched the market rise and fall exactly the way it did this time. That's why I wasn't worried."Her answer left me speechless."After I found out you'd jumped to your death, I spent every day blaming mysel

Everyone was stunned."Walter, are you playing along with Reed too?" Dad demanded. But Walter pulled out a medical report and threw it in Dad's face. "If you don't believe me, read it yourself! That's a test report from the state hospital!"All the relatives crowded around. The moment they saw the results, they were shocked."It's true... If they'd caught it any later, he might not have survived.""Could Reed really be able to predict the future?"Mom and Dad looked rattled, but they stubbornly refused to admit it."We told you, it's a coincidence! Getting one or two things right doesn't prove anything. Let's see him get every prediction right!"At that moment, Derek glanced outside and suddenly rushed out. His boss happened to be walking past the entrance."Mr. Walker, can I ask you something? Is the factory planning to lay off a group of workers soon?" he asked quietly.Mr. Walker's expression changed instantly. He looked around to make sure no one else was nearby before le

"What?! More than $10,000 is gone? Did you search everywhere?"Dad's legs nearly gave out, his face full of disbelief."We looked everywhere! We practically tore the house apart! What are we supposed to do now? That was Preston's tuition money!"Mom and Dad clung to each other, sobbing.Preston, meanwhile, didn't seem bothered in the slightest. He even pulled a lollipop out of his pocket. It wasn't one of the cheap lollipops sold at the corner store. The fancy packaging made it obvious that it was an expensive imported brand. The moment Mom saw it, her eyes widened. She rushed over and grabbed Preston's hand. "Preston, who bought you that?""I bought it myself. But I used my own money, so I'm not giving you any! If you want one, buy it yourself!"With that, Preston pulled an entire handful of lollipops from his pocket.Mom stared at them, trembling all over. "I've seen these at the supermarket. They're imported. They cost $10 each! And you have this many? Where did you get the

Cisco Steel, which had been soaring just moments ago, suddenly plunged before everyone's eyes.Meanwhile, Westfield Steel, the stock no one had believed in, began skyrocketing."What the hell is going on?"The investors stared at the screens in disbelief, shouting questions at the counter. One of the employees wiped the sweat from his forehead. "We just got the news ourselves. Cisco Steel has declared bankruptcy. Westfield Steel acquired the company. We didn't expect this either.""But we just bought all that Cisco stock! What are we supposed to do now?" one investor demanded anxiously."That's the stock market. There's no such thing as guaranteed profits. Try not to panic," the employee said, doing his best to calm them down.Dad looked completely stunned. He grabbed Preston by the shoulders and shook him hard. "Preston! Didn't you say you dreamed that this stock was going to go up? What the hell happened?"Preston looked bewildered. "I... I don't know. I saw that it was the o

The moment Dad said that, everyone stared at Preston in shock.Since when could he predict the future? Had he been reborn too?Preston stood there with his chubby face lifted smugly."Robert, you're getting in on this too?" one of the relatives teased. "Don't tell me you've gone crazy thinking about getting rich.""You don't believe me? Just watch!"At that moment, the information on the TV screens began updating. Every investor in the room surged forward, staring intently at the numbers.Cisco Steel's stock price was climbing right before our eyes.Westfield Steel, meanwhile, was falling."How is that possible?" I cried. In my previous life, Westfield Steel had steadily climbed. How could this be happening? The investors went wild. People were already crowding the counters, pouring every cent they had into Cisco Steel.Dad was one of them."Oh, my brilliant boy! Your dad's about to be rich!" Dad shot me a smug look. "Wonder if some little prick is going to be so jealous h

Dad was so angry at my challenge that he actually laughed. "You're five years old. What could you possibly have to bet with?"For a moment, I felt helpless. He was right. What could a five-year-old possibly wager? But then Aunt Mallory pulled me firmly into her arms."I believe him. I'll make the bet for him. If the stock doesn't go up, I'll pay back every cent of that $30,000, even if I have to sell everything I own. But if it does go up, Reed comes to live with me. Permanently."I stared at Aunt Mallory in shock, tears gathering in my eyes."Fine. I've wanted to get rid of that little prick for ages anyway. If you want him, take him!" Dad shouted. "But you said it yourself. If the stock doesn't go up, you owe me that $30,000! And I want it in writing, in front of the whole family!""Fine. We'll make the guardianship transfer official tomorrow, and I'll sign the agreement then. But you have to promise me one thing. From that day forward, you can never try to take him back for an
