Chapter 7.

Allison's POV:

"Come on, Ally, let's go for a walk," Alex says.

It's been two months since I rejected Damian, and I haven't seen much of him since then. I've been hanging out with Alex a lot since he is the only one I'm free with.

As I think of how my life would have been if I had accepted Damian, a headache starts to come on. Would we be happy? Would he make me feel protected and happy? I shake the thought out of my head.

I look over to Alex and smile. "Alright, Alex, let's go," I say as I pull him and drag him with me out of my room.

We walk out of the house to the garden area. "The weather is so nice today," I say to Alex with a smile.

"I know, right?" He answers, nudging me with his arm playfully.

I look up to see him smiling at me. I shake my head at him and look forward as we stroll.

We keep on walking, enjoying the peace and serenity of the evening until Alex suddenly asks, "How are things between you and him?"

I knew who he was talking about but still went ahead to ask, "Me and who?"

"You and Damian, Ally. What's up with the both of you?" Alex asks again.

It takes a while before I finally respond. "I don't know, Alex. I haven't seen much of him in the past two months. It's almost like he's avoiding me, and I can't blame him, though," I say with a low voice.

Alex sits on the floor and taps the space beside him for me to sit. I just stand there looking at him without doing anything. When I see that I'm not making any attempt to sit, he pulls my hand and makes me sit with him.

"Why did you reject him, Ally?" he says.

I keep quiet for some seconds before answering. "I don't know, Alex. I just thought it wouldn't work out. We have our differences, so I felt we aren't compatible. We don't love each other, Alex."

"Then why do you look and sound so sad while talking about it?" he says.

I run my hand through my hair in frustration. "I don't know. I don't know why I keep thinking of him when I don't even have feelings for him, and it annoys me!" I end angrily.

"Calm down, Ally. I think you both need to talk," he suggests.

"I don't want to talk to anyone, Alex. I made the right decision, and he's happy now too."

"How do you know he's happy? Are you happy, Ally?" he asks again, and I know I can't continue with the conversation.

"I'm tired, Alex. I need to rest. I'll see you later," I say as I stand up and leave immediately, not looking back.

I pick up my pace in walking, not paying attention to where I'm going until I bump into a very hard chest. Sparks and tingles spread throughout my body as warm hands hold my arms to stop me from falling. I look up to see Damian staring down at me. I close my eyes tightly, not wanting to get pulled into his baby blue eyes.

"Allison," he says quietly, making me shiver.

"Damian?" I hear Alpha George's voice call from behind me. "What are you doing?"

Damian lets go of me immediately, making me miss the contact. Opening my eyes, I slowly look up and see him looking at me with an emotion I couldn't get. And it feels like it's just the two of us on this planet.

"Cough cough," his father says, trying to get our attention. "Why are you staring at each other like that...Ah! You guys are mates?!" He asks, smiling.

That statement brings me back to reality.

"No," I say, my voice cracking a little. "We're not mates."

For a second, I thought I saw Damian flinch when I said he isn't my mate, but it could have been my imagination, though.

"But you guys are doing the stare," Alpha George says, looking disappointed.

I turn to him with a confused expression. "What stare?" I ask him.

"You know," he says, trying to explain. "The one every wolf gets when they meet their mate."

"No, Alpha father, we're not mates," my voice comes out scratchy as I say this, making myself flinch.

"Yes, father," Damian says. "We're not mates."

Alpha George looks at me sadly and says, "I'd be very happy if you both were mates. You'd make a very fine Luna."

I smile sadly at him, not knowing what to say. He notices and says, "It's fine, my dear. Just go up to your room and rest. I'm sure you've had a long day."

I nod at him with a smile and leave for my room without sparing another glance at Damian.

I shut the door to my room immediately after I enter and rest my back on it. I can't believe that just happened. And why is my heart beating so fast, like it's about to explode? What's going on with me?
