JeddI had just ended a phone call with my sister Susan a few minutes before I heard the sound of tires on gravel. Susan decided she couldn't sever the mate bond, and Jezebel would be arriving alone. I thought she was crazy for even thinking about trying. Jezebel is almost an adult and capable of being on her own. I am 42 and still haven't found my mate. I am a soldier and wouldn't have been the best father or husband in my younger years, but the older I get, the more I crave being mated and creating a family. Taking Jezebel in will give me some practice on being a parent as I will be watching out for her and giving her guidance. JezebelUncle Jedd seems like a decent man. His house could use some sprucing up, but that is to be expected from a man who has been a bachelor as long as he has. I climb into his large silver hummer. It is unlike any vehicle I have ever seen before. There is a huge control panel with several buttons and switches. Curiosity is overcoming me, and I am working hard to control myself, but I want to flip a switch and press some of those buttons so badly. "Go ahead. Flip that switch!" says my Uncle Jedd. JezebelI lock the door behind me and look around, wondering where I should begin. I decide to start in the living room since it has the least grime. Uncle Jedd had managed to dispose of his trash and put his dishes in the dishwasher, so I polish the end tables, then I dust what few knick knacks he has as well as the TV. After I finish vacuuming, I spray some air freshener and move on to the kitchen. I spray some oven cleaner on the stove and start the dishwasher. I sweep and mop the floors. After hours of scrubbing, the kitchen looks completely different. My arms ache, but I am incredibly pleased with what I have accomplished. JeddWe have a large perimeter to cover, so there are usually about a hundred of us out on patrol. Some driving around in hummers like me and others standing in watch towers. Our community used to consist of a little over three hundred wolves. That was a long time ago. Since the war began, around eleven years ago, our population has grown to almost 2,000. Alpha Jon comes from a line of respectable and fair Alphas. The Wolvesbane pack has always been wealthy, and everyone in the pack works together like a well-oiled machine. When the war started Alpha Elijah, the pack leader who came before Alpha Jon proposed keeping the war out of pack communities. That is how the battlegrounds formed. Rebeling packs will send armies to the battlefield to fight. The pack that is victorious claims rights over the other pack's members and territory.
