Chapter 3

As Naomi rounded the corner to her apartment building, she saw the two men standing, leaning on a car waiting for her. Her brother was tall and slim with short, dark curly hair and pale like his sister. He was in a dark hoody and shorts and smiling at his sister as she walked towards him.

Next to him was his opposite. Shorter than her brother, at about 6 foot (But still taller than Naomi, she was 5 foot five, so she found everyone was taller than her) Alpha Theon was broader and more muscular due to the intense combat training he had been doing since childhood.

He has lightly tanned skin from hours training in the sun and his blond tousled hair was also lightened in places by the sun. He had this charm that oozed out of him that always made Naomi feel safe and warm ever since they were children.

Stood in a dark fitted t shirt and jeans he was a picture of beauty in her eyes. His grey eyes met hers and she could see how happy he was to see her but also the darker shadow in them of his wolf push forward. At the same time Naomi felt her wolf doing the same and telling her in no uncertain terms. Mate. Go to our mate.

Before Naomi even realised it, she had dropped her bag and book on the floor and was running into the arms of Theon, who had lifted her off the floor and was covering her mouth with his warm soft lips.

Oh my gosh, she thought, this couldn’t be real. Pulling her head back a little she looked at Theon. Naomi had so many questions right now but also, she just wanted to stand there and keep kissing him.

Then a voice interrupted. “I’ll grab your things then”. Remembering her brother was there Naomi stepped back from Theons embrace but he pulled her back tight against him.

“Where are you going?” Theon asked tilting her chin up, so that she made eye contact with him, The second their eyes met again a delightful shiver ran down her spine. “To say hi to my bro…” but Naomi didn’t get to finish the word before Theon was kissing her again.

“Don’t make me physically separate you” Rhys said from behind her. Finally, Theon let her step back and Naomi tried to catch her breath. Turning to her brother she gave him a big hug.

“Happy birthday Nai.” He said, Letting her go she stood facing him and felt Theon step behind her and put his arm around her waist. Her legs felt a little unsteady. “Shall we go inside, people are staring” Cringing a little Naomi fished out her keys and opened the apartment door.

Naomi had been so excited about her brother being there but right now all she wanted was for him to disappear so she could be alone with Theon. As if sensing the mood in the room Rhys looked at them both and gave a little laugh.

“Okay I don’t know why I am even trying to act like normal. I am just going to leave you guys to it for a bit. I’ll come back in a couple of hours!” Rhys knowing they probably don’t even hear him and left the apartment.

Theon and Naomi stood in the middle of her living room just staring at each other. Naomi felt really shy suddenly and didn’t know what to say or do.

Theon raised his hand and tucked some of her loose hair behind her ear. “Hi Nai. Happy birthday” he said gently, smiling at her as widely as she was smiling at him.

“Hi Theon. Thank you” she blushed gently and Theon stepped closer and pulled her against his chest and hugged her again. Neither of them wanted to move but after a few minutes they realised that they couldn’t just keep standing there.

They sat down on Naomi’s bright pink overstuffed sofa side by side but Theon pulled Naomi onto his lap. He wanted as much of her as close to him as possible. He wanted to breath in her beautiful citrusy scent and the softness of her skin.

Naomi didn’t know what to say so she asked the first thing that came to mind “did you already know about this? The bond between us?” She felt Thomas lips gently kiss her cheek and then turn up into a smile.

“I knew since you were 17” Naomi looked at him a look of surprise obvious on her face.”but as someone avoided me like the plague since they turned 18 it only went one way until today”

“Oh.” Was all Naomi could think to say. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know.” She looked down at her lap feeling a little ashamed at leaving.

“It’s okay when only one of us knows it’s not very strong. I wanted to wait for you to finish college and me to do my alpha training. You are one of the smartest women in the world I was never going to stop you coming to MIT but if we started the bond I couldn’t have let you go.”

He said in such an earnest way that Naomi heart was fluttering like a butterfly in her chest and her stomach felt like it had turned to liquid.

“Thank you.” She looked up into his eyes and they second their gaze locked again she felt the electric sensation of the bond between them run through her. Coupled with her own feelings for Theon, this felt like a dream.

Theon ran a hand through her Naomi’s hair and with his hand gently on the back of her head he pulled her face towards him and kissed her. It was gentle at first but as their connection deepens so did the kiss. After a few minutes of this intense kissing on the couch Theon finally pulled away a little so they could both catch their breath.

As they both opened their eyes and looked at each other again, Naomi didn’t need to question what was going to happen next. She slid off Theon’s lap and taking his hand in hers started walking him towards her bedroom.
