The rain had finally slowed to a stubborn, freezing mist by the time Galen and Nurin touched down on the private helipad of the Prakoso-Qistina tower. Their tactical gear was soaked through, smelling faintly of gunpowder and ozone, but neither of them broke stride as they bypassed the primary elevators and headed straight for the sub-level intelligence vault.

Bagas was already waiting for them by the master console, a half-empty can of cold energy drink in one hand and a heavily modified decryption deck in the other. His eyes were bloodshot, glowing under the harsh fluorescent lights of the bunker.

"Took you guys long enough," Bagas muttered, not even bothering to look up as the heavy security doors hissed open. "I managed to salvage the uplink logs from the Nusantara Bank relay before those techs wiped their drives. You're not going to like what I found."

Galen dropped his soaked tactical vest onto a steel table with a dull clank, rolling his broad shoulders to ease the tension in his neck. "Talk to me, Bagas. Who was on the other end of that transmission?"

"Nobody human," Bagas said grimly, finally tapping a key to project a complex, multi-layered data map onto the central holographic display. "At least, not directly. The microwave burst wasn't routing to a server in Singapore or Geneva. It was bouncing through an automated proxy cluster located right here in the heart of the city—inside the old ministry of trade building."

Nurin stepped forward, her dark eyes narrowing as she studied the glowing architectural schematics pulsing on the screen. "The Ministry of Trade? That building has been under municipal receivership for six months. It’s supposed to be entirely vacant."

"That's what they wanted everyone to think," Bagas replied, pulling up a secondary feed of thermal scans. "Look at the subterranean electrical draw. Even with the main grid cut, the building's basement level is pulling enough juice to run a small data center. Someone's been squatting in the old government fallout shelters, using it as a ghost hub for the Syndicate's domestic operations."

Galen didn't hesitate. He reached out and grabbed his secondary sidearm from the table, locking the magazine home with a crisp, mechanical snap. "They're using a state-owned shell to hide in plain sight. Standard bureaucratic camouflage."

"If we hit a government-designated site without authorization, the state intelligence agency will be down our throats before we can even clear the lobby," Nurin warned, though there was no hesitation in her posture. She pulled a fresh biometric drive from her tactical pouch and slid it into her pocket. "Which means we don't go in through the front doors with a battering ram."

"We go in blind, dark, and fast," Galen finished, his voice dropping into that low, dangerous register that signaled total war. He turned his dark gaze toward Bagas. "Can you spoof their internal sensors? Give us a five-minute window where their security grid reads us as routine maintenance contractors?"

Bagas grinned, cracking his knuckles over the mechanical keyboard. "Boss, I can make their entire firewall think you're the janitorial staff bringing up fresh coffee and spare lightbulbs. But you only get three minutes before their automated heuristics realize the anomaly. After that, every automated turret and security gate in that building is going to try to turn you into Swiss cheese."

"Three minutes is all we need," Nurin said coldly. She looked up at Galen, her eyes flashing with a fierce, unwavering loyalty that mirrored his own. "Ready to crash another party, husband?"

Galen’s lips curved into a razor-thin, ruthless smile. He reached out, his warm, calloused fingers gripping the back of her neck for a brief, grounded second before letting go. "Let's go dismantle a ghost."

Ten minutes later, their matte-black armored van slipped out of the SCBD underground parking garage without its lights, merging seamlessly into the slick, rain-swept traffic of the capital. The city was waking up to another grey, unforgiving morning, oblivious to the lethal chess match playing out in its shadows.

The Ministry of Trade building loomed like a concrete monolith against the overcast sky, its neoclassical facade stained with decades of pollution and neglect. To the casual observer, it was just another abandoned bureaucratic tomb rotting away in the government district.

Galen killed the van's engine a block away, sliding the vehicle into the narrow, shadowed loading bay behind the building where rusted corrugated dumpsters offered cover from the street cameras.

"Bagas says our digital mask is active," Nurin whispered, her fingers flying across her wrist-mounted tactical pad as she verified the spoofed signal. "We have a three-minute clearance on the sub-level service entrance. Move."

They didn't waste a second. Slipping out of the van like wraiths, they crossed the wet asphalt of the loading dock with absolute, synchronized precision. Galen approached the heavy steel service door, pulling a compact electromagnetic override device from his belt and slapping it against the keypad.

A soft blue light blinked once. Click.

The heavy door swung open silently on oiled hinges, revealing a pitch-black concrete corridor descending into the bowels of the subterranean levels. The air inside smelled of stale dust, damp concrete, and the faint, humming ozone of heavy server racks.

"Entering the perimeter," Galen muttered into his comms, stepping across the threshold with his weapon raised.

Nurin followed instantly, sealing the service door behind them. They moved down the winding concrete stairs with practiced stealth, their boots making no sound against the damp floor. The emergency lighting here was dead, plunging the corridors into absolute dark, save for the faint green glow of their tactical HUDs.

"Three minutes are ticking," Bagas’s voice whispered in their earpieces, his tone tense. "You're approaching the main basement junction. Watch your left—there's an old motion sensor wired into the legacy security grid. I'm looping the loop now... three, two, one... you're clear."

Rounding the corner, the concrete corridor suddenly opened up into a massive, cavernous underground bunker. Rows of high-capacity quantum servers lined the walls, their cooling fans roaring like jet engines in the enclosed space. In the center of the room sat a makeshift command console surrounded by banks of monitors glowing with cascading streams of data.

At first glance, the room appeared empty.

"Trap," Galen hissed, his hand shooting out to stop Nurin in her tracks.

Before she could answer, the ambient lighting in the server vault abruptly shifted from pitch-black to blinding, clinical white. The low hum of the cooling fans died instantly, replaced by a chilling, mechanical voice echoing from the overhead intercom speakers.

"Welcome to the ministry, Prakosos. We were wondering when you'd RSVP."

Galen’s eyes scanned the catwalks above the server racks. Half a dozen heavily armed operatives materialized from the shadows, their assault rifles instantly locking down on the center of the room where Galen and Nurin stood.

"Bagas, we've got active eyes!" Nurin snapped, raising her weapon as she pivoted to cover the upper balcony. "The digital mask just dropped!"

"I know, I know!" Bagas yelled back over the comms, his keyboard clicking at supersonic speed. "The firewall didn't crash—it was a honeypot! They let you in on purpose!"

Galen didn't blink. He didn't waste a single breath on regret. His dark eyes locked onto the central command console where a single, high-definition monitor flickered to life, displaying the live feed of an empty, minimalist office overlooking the Geneva skyline.

"You set a trap with a government shell," Galen said, his baritone voice carrying effortlessly across the cavernous room, cold and utterly devoid of fear. "Clever. But you're still hiding behind a screen."

The figure on the monitor didn't speak immediately. A slow, synthetic chuckle hissed through the audio feed.

"I'm not hiding, Galen. I'm just waiting for you to realize that every move you've made—every merger, every asset seizure, every bullet you've fired—was part of the architecture we built for you."

Nurin’s jaw tightened, her finger twitching over her trigger as she aimed dead-center at the camera lens on the monitor. "We didn't build your empire. We're here to burn it down."

"Then let's see how much fire you can handle," the synthesized voice purred.

The heavy steel security doors behind them slammed shut with a thunderous crash, locking automatically from the outside. Above them, the armed operatives on the catwalk raised their weapons, their fingers tightening on the triggers as the countdown to absolute chaos began.

Galen turned his head slightly, locking eyes with Nurin for a fraction of a second. There was no hesitation between them, no shadow of doubt—only the fierce, electric surge of a lethal partnership ready to unleash hell.

"Cover your flanks," Galen commanded, a dark, dangerous smile touching the corners of his lips.

"Always," Nurin replied, raising her weapon as the first volley of gunfire shredded the silence of the bunker.
