Rael’s POV

My steps echoed sharply as I strode down the south pavilion corridor. Vesska kept pace beside me without a sound. The guards stationed at the door moved instantly, shoving it open the moment they saw me.

Veya thrashed like a wild animal. Her small wrists were bound to the sides of the bed with thick woolen rope.

Her round eyes froze on me as I stopped beside her bed. Fear was etched into every perfect line of her face, wet with tears. She tried to recoil, though there was nowhere left to go.

“Let me go!” she screamed. “Stay away from me!”

“Quiet!” I shouted at her, but she only screamed louder.

I hated insolent slaves.

My hand rose, ready to slap her into silence, but Vesska’s fingers clamped around my wrist.

“Your Majesty, grant me a moment to speak with her,” she murmured. “She’s already shattered from the trauma. Do you truly wish to destroy your only sedative?”

A growl rumbled in my chest, but I allowed Vesska to step toward the disobedient girl.

She bent, whispering so

Rael POV“Your Majesty, above you!”My chest split open under a vampire’s claws the instant my head turned the wrong way. One second. Just one moment of carelessness. That was all it took for the battlefield to mock me.I looked down, watching my blood drip onto soil already soaked crimson. The vampire grinned wide, fangs gleaming, wet with my blood.“Your Majesty!”My commander’s shout was drowned in the distance. The world contracted, collapsing into a fractured line of focus.Veya’s scent snared my mind.Too real—so vivid it was as if she stood behind my eyelids, naked, tangled in my ruined thoughts.“Focus. I am not losing control,” I muttered, more an argument with myself than a command. The vampire lunged again. I let his claws sink deeper into my chest. Pain detonated through my nerves, savage and blinding, until blood poured from my mouth. My body convulsed. Bones shifted, grinding and snapping as my form surged into its full lycan form.I slammed forward. The first vampire di

Veya POVKing Rael pulled me into a crushing embrace, as if he meant to press his bones into mine, and then he kissed me so deep. It wasn’t a gentle farewell. It was a claim.“I’ll return,” he murmured against my ear.A magic circle flared to life on the chamber floor. Silver light licked the walls, alive and hungry. Before I could form a single word, he vanished into the vortex of light.Silence swallowed the room.I stood frozen beside the bed for far too long, my fingers still curled around empty air. His scent lingered, heavy and intimate. My heartbeat thundered in my ears.He didn’t even stay the night.I hated what came after. The ache. The hollow quiet that slipped into my chest and made me realize how deeply he had already rooted himself in my life.I rubbed my face, letting out a small, humorless laugh. In the corner of the room, the large black box the servants had brought earlier still sat open. Clothes folded with careful precision. I crouched to close it—and then my gaze

Veya POV“Your Majesty… King Rael…”His name slipped from my lips the moment I stepped into the room. My heart slammed against my ribs, loud enough to echo in the unnervingly quiet chamber.I turned sharply, scanning every corner. No trace of him. No hint of that primal, intoxicating scent of his.“Don’t tell me that guard lied to me,” I muttered, breath catching in my throat.Stupid. I was so stupid. If King Rael had returned from war, the entire palace would be in chaos. The concubines would be painting their faces like madwomen, and the nobles would be stabbing each other with smiles just to get close to him.But here I was—running into this room like a fool, clutching a fragile hope.I sank onto the thick carpet, letting its softness swallow the cold from my bones. The black box with its intricate carvings waited in front of me.Why would a king give a slave a gift?Yet my hands opened the lid anyway.Candlelight caught on the treasures inside: jewelry that glittered like captured

Veya POVThe head guard stood a few steps away, his face carved from stone, his hawk eyes instantly assessing guilt. The three concubines bowed their heads with syrupy smiles, all grace, and deceit.“We were merely offering these two girls some wise advice,” the red-dressed concubine crooned, her smile soft and sweet like a spring blossom.“Exactly,” the blue-dressed one added with a prim nod. “Servants must learn proper etiquette.”Irine and I exchanged a look. The head guard didn’t buy a single word. Not with that stone-carved expression of his. He was holding a black lacquered box marked with an embossed golden wolf head—Rael’s personal crest. On top of the box lay a letter sealed with the king's red royal wax.The concubines froze. Their eyes lit up with greedy anticipation.“Oh, it must be for me,” the red one purred confidently. “His Majesty loves sending me gifts.”“Or me,” the blue one said, tapping her chest with fake modesty.“Maybe it’s an invitation to dinner,” the yellow-

Veya POV“Veya!”Her voice sliced through the air like an arrow shot straight into my chest.Irine came jogging toward me, lifting a basket of fruit over her head. She was breathless, her steps frantic—like a young fawn still learning how to run. She was so eager she didn’t even see the root in front of her and almost toppled over.“Hey, careful.” I steadied her. “Where did you come from? Your clothes are all dirty.”“I just came from the forest behind the king’s pavilion,” she whispered, slipping out leaves and plant roots she had hidden beneath the pile of fruit. My brows furrowed. “Irine, that’s a forbidden area.”She only grinned, tugging me down to sit beneath a large tree. Sunlight filtered through the branches, scattering gold over her tangled hair.“I needed a specific plant,” she murmured. “And it only grows there.”“Don’t do that again,” I said sharply. She just shrugged, as if the risk to her life was nothing more than an annoying pebble in her boot.“Irine, I hope you’re n

  • Traded to the Lycan King After Rejection   Chapter 10: Weakness?

Rael's POVFlames devoured the vampires’ heads as I ripped open the chest of the last one standing. The stench of burning flesh clung to my throat, pushing me into that familiar hunger for more. Their bodies littered the ground, heads severed, limbs twitching uselessly until they finally disintegrated into ash.“Your Majesty, they’re retreating!” one of my commanders shouted over the chaos.“Too late,” I muttered.I slammed my claws into the earth. The ground split open. Dozens of fleeing vampires were dragged back by the quake and flung straight into the kill zone. Their shrieks cut the night as my claws hooked their necks one by one, snapping spine from muscle, hurling their heads into the fire pit.“Clear the rear ranks. Don’t let a single one return to their nest!” I commanded, pointing left where a few vampires sprinted like lightning bolts across the field. The night belonged to them, but Vargravia belonged to me. And I never lose on my land. The surviving vampires made one last
