I was staring at the progress from my oil mining project and the sight of it made the butterflies in my stomach throw a nasty party.
The thought of how many trips I could go on, how much jewellery I could get and how fat my bank account would get made me feel so giddy.Gosh.
Life was great!
As I scrolled through that, my eyes caught another notification.
Jasver Chadwick faces public ridicule following the revelation of the real land owner.
He looked so devastated in the videos and photos attached, like a man who'd been stripped of something precious. Seeing him like that made my lips turn up in satisfaction but somewhere along watching his eyes grow teary, my heart ached a tiny bit.
Shit.
I shouldn't be feeling pity for him. This was the same man who'd treated Ivelle like a piece of shit when all she did was love him. Even after Ivelle incurred embarrassment for him, he still openly humiliated her.
He didn't deserve even an ounce of my pity. He was getting whatever he deserved and I was glad I was the one putting him through it.
I shoved back my thoughts as I returned my focus back to the screen. The video from my altercation with Jasver and Liora was already going viral.
It was a thousand views one second, and ten thousand the next.
“Perfect.” I breathed, about to slip my phone on my pants when the system menu finally appeared above me.
TASK FOR REBELLION POINTS REPLACEMENT FOUND.
Synchronization with storyline: 40%.
Character involved: James Chadwick.
Task: Disrupt the charity event James Chadwick is holding for damage control.
I crossed my arms, my brows furrowing, “oh so now you can appear? Well, I'll let you know that I'm not doing anything until you return my points.”
“Host refuses to comply. Initiating deduction of rebellion points.” A mechanical voice erupted from the blue screen.
My crossed arms deflated, my eyes widening, “Don't you dare do that system. I'm going right now!”
“Deduction aborted. Good decision host.” The mechanical voice came again and the blue screen disappeared.
Ugh, this damn system.
I just knew someone had to be behind this because there was no way a fucking robotic screen was threatening me!
I walked out of the area, finding my way to the charity centre. The place was crowded with journalists and people who were interested in whatever gifts Jasver was giving. From the look of things, Jasver didn't look happy. He looked like he was forced into this, and I figured whose idea it was after seeing who was handing out the gadgets amongst other gifts. It was Liora's.
“Thank you very much for coming out. It's my pleasure to give out to the same people who have contributed a lot to the growth of my business,” Jasver addressed them, smiling tightly while at it.
I rolled my eyes, how convenient. I surfed my way through the crowd, borrowing a microphone from one of the reporters around.
The moment I held it to my lips, Jasver's eyes found mine and I flashed him a wink. His face turned pale instantly and he stepped forward as if trying to come after me but still trying to stop himself at the same time.
“Ladies and gentlemen, these laptops, phones and home appliances are stolen items. Think about it. How can someone who recently lost a big deal have the money to run a charity program?” Liora paused, glaring daggers at me but I didn't give a flying hoot about her.
They were not going to find their way to the top. Not when I still existed in this book.
“If you want to be safe from whatever trouble surrounds Jasver Chadwick, refuse his items. If you decide to go with them, do know that the police would trace his crimes to your homes. The ball is in your court,” I finished, dropping the mic to the floor.
The murmurs and gasps in the hall increased and soon enough, people started trooping out of the area. The reporters, though, still hung around for the drama.
Liora stepped down from the podium, charging towards me with a face that screamed danger. I squared my shoulders, awaiting her but then Jasver caught the grip of her hand, stopping her.
“You shouldn't do anything that would complicate this issue anymore. You know she's gone crazy. If you do anything right now, she would make my life even more difficult,” Jasver explained to her but Liora wasn't having it.
She yanked her hand free from his grip, “so what would you have me do? Can't you see she's just a bitter ex who won't move the fuck on? What the hell does she want from me?”
“I want your tears, your frustration, and your peace, and I think I have that already. You look like shit,” I snorted, swaying my hair over my shoulders.
She cussed under her breath but Jasver still held her from coming at me.
His expression was icy as he stared at her, “Don't do anything. I'll handle it.”
And with that, she stood rooted to the ground while the reporters crowded her, firing one question after another at her.
Jasver walked towards me, his expression a mix of confusion and helplessness. I'd longed to see this look on his face all those times I read about how he frustrated Ivelle. I'd wanted to see him suffer and seeing that right now made me feel like I was sitting on the fucking clouds.
“Please, let's talk in private.”
“Say what you want here. I don't plan to get strangled by you in private,” I resisted with a clip tone.
He let out a defeated sigh before he parted his lips again, “I would be doing nothing of the sort. You can stay as far as you want. I just want a place without these cameras.”
My eyes narrowed in on him as sincerity poured from his tone.
“Lead the way.”
Lulu's POV.I'd barely been here for three hours but I was already feeling like I was on top of the world.Cameras followed me everywhere and reporters were forcing their way to shove their microphone in my face.Enzo had just announced that I was part of the Armani family and that I was also the CEO and that seemed to make me become the next viral topic! In my own life, I always wondered what it felt like to be important, rich and popular. And now that I was living that wish, I found it a little amusing. The attention was crazy and the questions were bizarre and a little provoking.“Hi, CEO Ivelle, how does it feel being the heir to such a huge conglomerate without Jasver in your life?” I stared at the reporter with a disgusting look on my face.“Ivelle, do you think the situation surrounding your divorce would have changed if Jasver knew you were wealthy?” That questioned made me smirk, of course he would. Hell, I was sure that wherever he was right now, he'd have heard the news a
Lulu's POV.As I swayed to the music, I still felt those eyes on me. The area was flickering with lights so I couldn't make out who it was.But something about the way they stared stirred curiosity within me. Was this how men at clubs behaved?I continued dancing, attempting ignorance but then I saw the face move closer and closer. By the time the figure's face was in full view, anger sputtered through my insides. He surfed through the crowd, trying to reach me. I started walking away because I didn't want a scene here. But then I felt a force pull me backwards. His eyes raked my frame hungrily as he swallowed hard.“If you dressed like this when we were married, I would never have cheated on you,” he muttered, gliding his thumb over my wrist.I yanked my hand free from his grip, glaring daggers at him and God, I wished that would slice him into pieces.“Jasver, don't you have better things to do other than stalking your ex–wife? Aren't you ashamed?”“Not in the slightest Ivelle. I've
Lulu's POV.“I want us to get back together.”The words landed on my skin like boiling water. Were my ears working fine, or did I just hear the most absurd statement ever?I stared at Jasver, hoping to find even the smallest nickel or amusement but his face remained void of any expression. He actually meant business.I couldn't help bursting into laughter. I laughed until my stomach started aching because there was no way that he was serious.“Ivelle. I mean every word. I know you don't expect this from me, especially since you've seen me openly agree to be with Liora. But I promise you, I can make things–”“Be quiet!” I snapped at him before he could finish.I crossed my arms, disgust splitting my features as I stared at his frame.“I don't know the thought behind this silly little plan but it's not working okay? It can work on everyone but definitely not on me.”His brows crossed as he shook his head from side to side, “this isn't a plan. Listen, I don't care about the money or Lior

Lulu's POV.Liora’s face burned red, her hands turning into fists by her sides.“You are such a–”“If you finish that sentence, I promise you'll crawl instead of kneeling. Wanna try?” I asked, a smug smile spreading across my lips. The cameras and devices around us kept flashing around us but I didn't care. Liora stared at me for what felt like a minute, probably feeling like she should strangle me or something. But amidst that anger, I saw the way her shoulders sagged, the way her eyes sparkled with frustration, and the way she trembled.I didn't need to be told she was contemplating, but of course I didn't have the time for Jasver's little princess to think about it.“I don't have all the time in the world.”She clenched her jaw, but her fists deflated as her body slowly lowered. The moment she was on her knees, the hall broke out with gasps and murmurs.“Good girl, you look better when–” I grinned.“You are going to pay for treating my woman like that! I promise you!” Jasver sudden
Lulu’s POV“Found you, little sister.”I stood barefoot in the mud, staring at the handsome stranger in front of me. Little sister or had I misheard him?Ivelle had no brothers in the novel. At least, none that I remembered. She was an only child. The man removed his sunglasses, and I was immediately stunned by his cold, dark eyes and their intensity. “My name is Enzo Armani,” he said. “I’m your biological brother.”I blinked still unsure of what the fuck was happening .“I’m sorry,” I said slowly. “Did you just say Armani?”He nodded. As in the Armani family? The same Armani family known for their old money dynasty. They owned half the country’s businesses and could make government officials answer their phones before the first ring?Enzo walked closer. “You were kidnapped twenty years ago when you were a baby. Our family searched for you everywhere, but whoever took you erased every trace of your existence. We finally found a lead, and it brought me here.”I stared at him.“Do you
