I woke up screaming once again and the same guy rushes in and sweeps the cabin just like last time. He puts his hands on his hips, “What the fuck Akira?” He yells at me. I run my hands through my hair and then glare at him, “It’s not like I can control it asshole,” I yell back at him, but my voice comes out hoarse with how dry and aching my throat is. I get up to grab some water and chug it then refill the glass and do it once more. I turn around and see him staring again. “You have some serious issues,” the asshole says, “What happened for you to be this messed up?” What a presumptuous prick, “Why don’t you take a wild guess?” I open my arms looking down at my body, hinting at what it might obviously be. My sleep wear leaving nothing to the imagination once again. I might as well get used to him seeing me half naked since he’s clearly on guard outside at this time every day.

It’s 3:55am this time though and I’m ridiculously tired and horribly sore putting me in an even worse mood. “Would have thought you could heal the sore muscles Star,” I tell her. “Just get out, I’m fine,” I say to the asshole night guard while walking back to bed with another full glass of water. He shakes his head and thankfully walks out. I throw the sheet over my head but start kicking my legs and hitting my bed, groaning in annoyance at myself. Why can’t I have ONE normal sleep without feeling like I’m being eaten alive and have glowing red eyes staring at me!

I hear someone clear their throat and I jump straight up from my bed. The Alpha was staring at me, leaning against the kitchen counter. I sighed, “What use is your enhanced hearing if you can’t listen Star!” I yell at her. “How long have you been there?” I ask him. The side of his mouth tips up just slightly, “Long enough,” he says, “Tell me more about the red glowing eyes”. I look at him confused, “Not much to tell other than they were glowing and red,” I say and roll my eyes. He’s looking down so he missed that, his brows furrowing causing wrinkles between them. He looks so much older when he contemplates like that.

“How old are you?” I ask without thinking. He looks up and that one brow does its thing, “Why would you ask that?” He says. “You look so young especially when you smile, a real smile not your scary, I’m gunna kill you and like it smile. But when you’re contemplating, thinking really hard on something like it’s stumped you, you seem older,” I explain. For some reason I can’t place, this Alpha makes me too comfortable. Then he smiles and I kind of melt a little but I stump that down before it goes any further. “I’m 35, in human years,” he says. “And in dog years that would be?” I say, Star mentally kicks me for that one. He laughs, “You really shouldn’t talk to an Alpha the way you do, maybe that’s what got you in so much trouble.”

I. Am. Livid. I throw the sheet off me and walk right up to him. “What did you just say to me? You think I ask for this? Are you that ignorant? You think I went in there and played with not just my life but two innocent people’s lives who did nothing but help me? They saved me from going fucking insane after being attacked, raped and left to die in the woods? You think I wasn’t a broken shell of a person asking another precious Alpha for refuge?” I spit the word’s at him. I was reeling, I was right up in his face now. “You’re no better than him, you’re just another arrogant, asshole of an Alpha who takes whatever he wants, does whatever he wants and says whatever he wants. What a fucking silver platter life you must have lived.” He growled but it didn’t affect me at all. “How dare you insult me by implying I deserved what happened to me because I made a fucking dog joke,” Star was growling, nope wait that was actually me and my claws were now out to play. “We have an audience,” Star warns me and a second later five men rush in, the Beta, Jack and Asshole night guard plus two I’ve never met.

I grab my wine glass and force down another sip trying to wash away the sins forming in my head. Noah takes another sip before finally replying, “What if I do like you?” My eyes snap to his. “You don’t even know me,” I say, trying to back track already, my breath faltering. “Do I need to know everything about you to be attracted to you?” His smirk makes my heart rate pick up speed. “Those are two very different things, don’t you think?” I tell him. “I think they can also go hand in hand,” he counters. I can’t help my breathing as it picks up pace as well now. “Are you saying you’re not attracted to me Akira?” He confidently asks. “I-….” I’m left speechless. His blunt reactions are catching me off guard and I’m not sure how to react to it. Physically, my body is reacting positively to his words and Stars’ purrs through the bond aren’t helping. “I’ll take that as a yes,” he’s full on grinning now, and I fear I might never want him to stop. “You’re extremely confident Noah,” I say as I

  • Turned   Avoidance

“What else would you like to know little wolf?” He asked in a slightly playful manner. As the one question that forever aches through my soul burns in my mouth, the server drops off another wine bottle and I hurriedly take it, pouring a huge glass. Noah’s eyebrow did the signature move as he clicked his tongue. “Be careful,” he warns. I take a sip so big my cheeks puffed out with the amount of the liquid taking over my mouth and rapidly sliding down my throat. “Why me?” I finally ask. “Why you what?” A whisper of irritation slid through me, “Why did he choose me?” I study his face as if it holds every answer. His forehead tightened, shadows gathering above his eyes, “I’ll do whatever it takes to find that answer for you Akira, but right now I have no idea,” his answer cracks a little piece of my heart, but I know it’s not his fault, why would he know? “I’m sorry,” he murmurs softly as he reaches for the bottle and pours the same amount I did into his glass. My lips twitch as I force

“To be quite honest, I can’t tell you the last time I ever went on a date,” Noah says. “I just thought, after you asked for steak, that it would be a good idea to get you out of the cabin for a night and give you an opportunity to ask me any questions you might have.” The slight rejection stings but I shove those feelings away. They are not going to do me any good so it’s better to pretend they don’t exist at all and definitely don’t act on them. My mind is racing at a mile a minute now with questions I need to ask, answers I need to know. “Is that why you’re being nice to me now, because I’m a super special turned wolf?” I ask. “You have absolutely no reason to trust me. No reason to believe anything that comes out of my mouth.” I ramble on, my attitude peaking through slightly, “So tell me Alpha Noah, why did you agree to have me “audition” for your pack?” I look at every inch of his face, my eyes roaming over every feature. I watch his jaw clench but his stoic expression remains. H

  • Turned   Steak and Flirting? Pt2

I stare at myself in the mirror, I look good. Apart from my scars of course. “You’re beautiful Akira, and maybe with the more information we get I can learn to heal you fully,” Star says. I wonder if I really would want my scars healed now. I feel like they show I’m a survivor, which makes me hate them a little less. “You are a survivor,” Star says. “We are survivors,” I add. “I wouldn’t be here without you, and you went through just as much as me,” I sigh. It’s the part of my story I’ll never forget, but it doesn’t mean I’m going to let it define me. The more I learn about my life, the more I’ll be in control of it. There are villains in every story, but I won’t give them more than a chapter in mine. I quickly use the washroom and let the cold water run on my hands for a while trying to cool down before going back out there. As I sit down back at the table I notice there’s a desert in front of my seat. The tiramisu looks absolutely delicious and has my full attention. “I ordered the
