Contract

I stared at him for a long moment, because my stubbornness from my human life seemed to transfer over into this one. “He wanted to run tests on me, see what I truly was.” Half of the truth but should be enough, I hoped. “So he took me prisoner instead and killed the couple that helped me, using the excuse that I was an enemy and that they gave me inside information. Which they didn’t. And I am not.” I said with so much anger. He stared at me but his eyes flashed down then back up. “Retract your claws Akira”, I looked down, sure enough I was digging my claws into the arms of the chair I was sitting on. I retracted them and went on with the story after I took a deep breath. “I escaped and ended up in your territory a month later. Your pack members caught me at your border and brought your Beta to me. Obviously you decided this interrogation wasn’t optional and I was brought here after trying to explain I am not a threat.” I lifted one eye brow to him.

“Is that enough for you Alpha?” I asked. I shouldn’t be so snarky, but this story was hard to tell and my deflection always turned into anger now. He laughed without humour, “Why should I believe anything you’ve said?” He leans back, fucking smiles and crosses his arms. My eyes widen and fear strikes, I’ve seen that look before. I stifle the fear down as quickly as I can but he saw it. I can’t let what happened to me happen again. “I’m risking my life being here. I told you what happened to the last pack I tried to join. They fucking tortured me. And your kind puts a whole different meaning to torture,” I explain my voice almost cracking, almost. He leans forward resting his arms on his desk. “Our kind” is all he says. I’m so angry, I swear I could explode. “What do you want?” I push down the growl, trying not to mess this up. “What do you want Akira?” He reply’s deadpanned. I don’t want to show weakness or beg, but I need this. “I want a home. I want to learn what I am. I want to train and learn how to fight. I am lost, and I don’t know where to go anymore.”

After a long moment I hang my head in defeat, not caring anymore about showing strength. I’m exhausted from this new life and I don’t know if I can survive it anymore. If they take me prisoner I’ll make sure I don’t survive making it to that cell. I cannot let what happened to me happen again. I’ve been through too much. He sighs and nothing is said for a long time. I don’t even want to look at him but I do, tears filling my eyes. “I didn’t ask for this. I wasn’t born into this. You don’t understand what I’ve been through these last two months. I have nothing left.” I was yelling now and on my feet. His Beta rushes back in because I guess I was making a scene. He puts a hand up and his Beta steps back, I didn’t realize he was so close to me. He stands and stares directly into my soul. “We will take you in with conditions. You are not a part of this pack until your loyalty is proven. You will not stay near the pack, I will have accommodations made for you away from it. You will train and attend lessons to learn about our kind but not our pack. You will be given a contract that will indicate that any disobedience will be cause for immediate dismissal or imprisonment.” I’m to stunned to speak, I don’t know if I’m relieved or not putting myself into a different type of cell. But I’ll take it if it’s not torture and gives me the information I need about myself. “My Beta will take you to where you will be staying now.” He sat down and didn’t look at me again. I have been dismissed. “Th-thank you”, I stuttered but got it out before I was pulled away and escorted to my new… home?
