I was brought into the Alphas office by his Beta and some other pack members, immediately I was stunned at not only how young he looked but how familiar. I’m not sure where I’ve seen him from, but it must be from my past life. He stares at me, hard. It seems as though he’s upset, but I’m not sure.

“Who are you and state your business on our pack grounds” he says, not asking.

“My name is Akira, and I would like to join your pack”, I kept my head held high, hoping he sees strength instead of desperation. The room grows quiet for far too long. I can see him sniff the air, “Not a rouge… what pack are you from?” he asks. Here we go.. “I’ve never been a part of a pack actually,” I hesitate to continue but decide honesty right now is my best option, “I was never born a wolf, I was turned.” There it was. I knew I was different but the faces of everyone in this room grew cold and confused. Assessing me as a threat I assume, because I’m as unknown to them as they were to me. Understandable. The Alpha stilled. The other men around me stared like I was a unicorn or something. “We don’t take kindly to liars in this pack”, he states. He crosses his arms over his chest and leans back in his chair. “I understand your implication that what I have said is a lie, considering it’s unfamiliar and apparently hasn’t been heard of in a very long time. But I can’t offer you anything more than my own words, and if you’re willing to hear my…” I hesitate looking for the right way to state this, “origin story, then I would be willing to share…privately.” I maintain eye contact the whole way through. I’m still not sure how to speak in “wolf” terms yet seeing as I’ve been human for 30 years but I try, and try even harder not to sound arrogant. It grows quiet again for what feels like forever. It seems they must be talking over mind link, something I have yet to ever experience, but definitely okay without. I have enough going on in my head as is.

The Alpha stands and walks around his desk, apparently trying to appear intimidating. “Leave”, he orders his pack members. They all bow their heads slightly and walk out. I’m still holding eye contact, not breaking it for anything. I need to hold my ground, and I’m completely stubborn. He tilted his head and squinted his eyes at me as he leaned back on his desk. He studied me for a long moment so I decided to do the same. He’s ridiculously tall like 6’6, muscular but not like the rest of these wolves though, he’s wider and his muscles seem to grow off each other, and of course annoyingly attractive. Black wavy hair, curling slightly, and piercing eyes, so dark you would almost think they were black but they are definitely blue like how ocean water truly looks because it’s so incredibly deep. He’s staring at my tattoos now, a big indication that I’m not a normal wolf. They can’t hold the ink. Their bodies heal too quickly, while mine was already on my skin before I was turned. “Where do I know you from?” He asks. I knew it. He did look familiar. I took a deep breath. “Honestly, I’m not sure but it was probably years ago when I was human.” I’m a little embarrassed, not going to lie. I don’t want to know why he seems familiar, I’m not exactly proud of how I acted when I was younger.

“Sit” he commands. And I look at him questionably. Confused, but after a long minute I walk to one of the seats in front of his desk as he walks to his behind it and sits as well. “You don’t feel it do you” he states, again not asking. Shit. I forgot about the Alpha command. I was so wrapped up in trying to come off as strong and not pathetic I didn’t realize when Alphas throw their commands usually it’s felt and cannot be disobeyed. That’s why they bowed their heads I recall, understanding rushing in fast. He commanded them leave, now I wonder if they didn’t want to. “I didn’t realize you’d notice that, but now I feel like the “sit” was more of a test than an offer of hearing me out.” The side of his mouth tilts like he was about to smile but doesn’t, “It was both” he says.
