I woke up screaming, red eyes burned into my mind plaguing my dreams, it felt so real like I was being torn apart all over again, bite after bite after bite, I felt it all over again. I couldn’t stop screaming seeing red eyes even with mine open. The door flew open and a man ran in ready to fight. He stopped when he saw me in bed, quickly assessing the situation. He checked the bathroom then walked back to me, clearly annoyed. “What the fuck Akira, I thought someone was killing you?!” The guy yelled throwing his hands up questioning me. “Someone was,” I muttered, rubbing a hand down my face. I threw the sheet off and got out of bed, glancing at the alarm clock as I walked to the kitchen, 4:36am. Great I could have slept for 24 more mintutes, too bad. I grabbed a glass of water and chugged it and heard the guy breathe “holy shit” then turned around realizing he was checking me out. Not checking me out in the ogling kind of way, he was staring at all my scars.

I have claw marks, bite marks and most recently added the torture marks from the silver dust coated weapons of choice from the last pack that held me captive and the coated barbed wire they tied me down with. Usually I covered my body enough to hide them all but right now I was in hardly any clothing, barring it all. He took a couple steps closer putting him close enough to be able to reach out and touch. Which is exactly what he tried to do before I slapped his hand away, “Nuh uh uh, touch me and I’ll bite your hand off.” He looks at me then raises his eye brows and smiles, “Think you can fit it all in?” He taunts. “Wanna test me?” I say annoyed.

The Alpha slams the door open, looks at his pack member, the guy is stunned, clearly caught off guard and then he walks out the door. I kind of hate this mind link thing but I’m sure he’s using it to keep me from hearing any conversation between him and his pack. I assume that’s how it’s going to be with everyone now. As soon as he’s gone the Alpha looks at me, also staring at all my scars. A look crosses his face that I can’t decipher. “Guess I should have just undressed then maybe everyone would take it as proof enough,” I said interrupting his thoughts. He finally looks me in the eyes, “What happened?” He asks. “I already told what happened,” I sigh. I am not going over this again. I turn to refill my water and chug that as well. I don’t want to look at him. “I meant, why were you screaming,” he clarifies. Oh. Yeah that makes sense. I still don’t want to turn around, especially now that I have to tell him I had a bad dream and that’s why I was screaming my lungs off.

“He’s worried Akira” Star says. “No, that would imply he cares. Actually no, you’re right he is worried, for his pack, not me,” I state. I turn around and realize he’s still staring at me, waiting for me to reply. “Oh shit, sorry, still getting used to having two conversations at once,” I point to my head as I explain. I put the glass down and sigh. “You’re going to stop doing that Akira,” he commands. I’m so confused, “Stop doing what? Talking my wolf?” I question. His hand runs down his face. “No, sighing every time you have to talk, it’s disrespectful.” I hold back another sigh but an eye roll slips through instead. Shit. I turn around trying to hide it by putting the glass in the sink. He growls and I jumped not expecting it and turn back to face him and find him so close to me I’m leaning back over the sink with my neck craned to look up at him. “You will not turn your back on your Alpha either,” he seethes and puts his arms on each side of my body locking me in.

The words tumble out of my mouth before I could stop them, Star didn’t even have a chance to warn me, “Technically you’re not my Alpha,” I immediately regretted it as soon as I said it. He fucking smiles and it’s devastatingly beautiful and menacing all at once. “WAIT!” I put my hands up in defence. “I didn’t exactly mean that, I’m still working on the whole think before I speak thing and the whole respect thing, and the whole having someone in charge of me thing.” He pauses, smile gone and he sighs. I try very hard to hold back my smile but I think he caught it. His one eye brow arches, that seems to be a reoccurring thing I’ve noticed. He leans back and crosses his arms, “What happened?” his clipped words are a demand for an answer.

I grab my wine glass and force down another sip trying to wash away the sins forming in my head. Noah takes another sip before finally replying, “What if I do like you?” My eyes snap to his. “You don’t even know me,” I say, trying to back track already, my breath faltering. “Do I need to know everything about you to be attracted to you?” His smirk makes my heart rate pick up speed. “Those are two very different things, don’t you think?” I tell him. “I think they can also go hand in hand,” he counters. I can’t help my breathing as it picks up pace as well now. “Are you saying you’re not attracted to me Akira?” He confidently asks. “I-….” I’m left speechless. His blunt reactions are catching me off guard and I’m not sure how to react to it. Physically, my body is reacting positively to his words and Stars’ purrs through the bond aren’t helping. “I’ll take that as a yes,” he’s full on grinning now, and I fear I might never want him to stop. “You’re extremely confident Noah,” I say as I

  • Turned   Avoidance

“What else would you like to know little wolf?” He asked in a slightly playful manner. As the one question that forever aches through my soul burns in my mouth, the server drops off another wine bottle and I hurriedly take it, pouring a huge glass. Noah’s eyebrow did the signature move as he clicked his tongue. “Be careful,” he warns. I take a sip so big my cheeks puffed out with the amount of the liquid taking over my mouth and rapidly sliding down my throat. “Why me?” I finally ask. “Why you what?” A whisper of irritation slid through me, “Why did he choose me?” I study his face as if it holds every answer. His forehead tightened, shadows gathering above his eyes, “I’ll do whatever it takes to find that answer for you Akira, but right now I have no idea,” his answer cracks a little piece of my heart, but I know it’s not his fault, why would he know? “I’m sorry,” he murmurs softly as he reaches for the bottle and pours the same amount I did into his glass. My lips twitch as I force

  • Turned   Special Drinks

“To be quite honest, I can’t tell you the last time I ever went on a date,” Noah says. “I just thought, after you asked for steak, that it would be a good idea to get you out of the cabin for a night and give you an opportunity to ask me any questions you might have.” The slight rejection stings but I shove those feelings away. They are not going to do me any good so it’s better to pretend they don’t exist at all and definitely don’t act on them. My mind is racing at a mile a minute now with questions I need to ask, answers I need to know. “Is that why you’re being nice to me now, because I’m a super special turned wolf?” I ask. “You have absolutely no reason to trust me. No reason to believe anything that comes out of my mouth.” I ramble on, my attitude peaking through slightly, “So tell me Alpha Noah, why did you agree to have me “audition” for your pack?” I look at every inch of his face, my eyes roaming over every feature. I watch his jaw clench but his stoic expression remains. H

  • Turned   Steak and Flirting? Pt2

I stare at myself in the mirror, I look good. Apart from my scars of course. “You’re beautiful Akira, and maybe with the more information we get I can learn to heal you fully,” Star says. I wonder if I really would want my scars healed now. I feel like they show I’m a survivor, which makes me hate them a little less. “You are a survivor,” Star says. “We are survivors,” I add. “I wouldn’t be here without you, and you went through just as much as me,” I sigh. It’s the part of my story I’ll never forget, but it doesn’t mean I’m going to let it define me. The more I learn about my life, the more I’ll be in control of it. There are villains in every story, but I won’t give them more than a chapter in mine. I quickly use the washroom and let the cold water run on my hands for a while trying to cool down before going back out there. As I sit down back at the table I notice there’s a desert in front of my seat. The tiramisu looks absolutely delicious and has my full attention. “I ordered the
