Chapter 5

“Mr Hale, we have the report you asked for”

I raised my head up to see one of the other workers handing the file that I had asked for.

As I took the files my eyes went to her direction, I watched her go through her computer muttering words under her breath and her chest going up and down at every moment.

I could still remember the first day I set my eyes on her. I could literally feel my wolf jumping just in her presence. I knew what that feeling was, but there was no way I’m accepting a weak human as my mate.

The only thing that set me upright was the thing about her. She seemed oddly weird, different from all the other women I have been with. I didn’t know if it was the pair of hazel eyes that burned into my soul.

Her eyes had this emptiness that surrounded it and yet I could feel how vulnerable she was and happy at the same time it was more like she was masking her pain.

Her questions and calm nature totally drove me off the edge but I could tell that there was something about her, she had that smell that I couldn’t quite detect.

I didn’t want to believe I was falling for a woman and not just anyone a weak human at that.

I was cursed,I knew that, the last mate I had died while birthing my child, my authority as the Alpha of my pack was almost in shambles and I have made the boldest decision of making my brother an heir, I could never have an heir, I haven’t slept well in about 10 years but somehow that night when I stalked her I found myself in her arms, saying words that I shouldn’t say and yes when she left that morning the most shocking thing happened to me, I slept like a fucking baby.

It could be her I knew, I didn’t like her and I don't plan on loving her but I never plan on letting her go.

I had spent the last ten years living in the midst of humans, building billionaire dollar empires while my brother ran my pack.

Within ten years my parents had convinced me to go back home but my distance away from my pack wasn’t a cowardice move I was still Alpha

“Have you seen what you’re looking for? Landon asked as he dropped on the chair opposite me with the wine in his hands.

I signed as I pushed the chair back and walked towards the glass door going through her details, this was the same place I stood last week watching her leave.

It was almost 8pm and I was left with Aria and a few workers and Landon my manager but he wasn’t just that, he was my beta and how he had managed to convince me to let him live with me was still out of the books.

I scrolled through the files again and sighed.

The documents say she had moved into the city just two years back and was an orphan but that smell on her, it wasn’t just any, it was sharper than anything I had felt before and was arousing my suspicions.

Landon shifted and stared at me, the questioning gaze lingering in his face . “You told me it was just a one night stand Alpha”

I sighed calmly and looked at him, “ I thought so too”

I move away from my chair and my eyes go back to her working figure.

She seemed totally focused on whatever she was doing, her long blonde hair had fallen to the side with a bang on the front.

I could still remember the look on her face when she confronted me about the affair.I hated the fact that she was the only person who had spoken to me in such a manner and I wasn’t offended, not even in the least.

The look on her face when I told what we did that night almost made me feel guilty, which was unusual.

But that smell on her, was she human, a wolf, what was she?

I watched her pack her things after a long day and just like my wolf screamed in my head, I followed. I needed to confirm whatever it was I was feeling at this moment.

The elevator door dings and the moment it opened, I saw the way her eyes shifted when she saw me.

After our conversation she had done literally everything in her power to avoid my gaze but the moment I stepped in, the air in the elevator disappeared , it was more like breath was being sulked out from the both of us.

I watched her chest rise and fall in a rhetorical manner, she tried to say something, the strong defiant lady that I once saw had suddenly disappeared and yet I could feel my chest beating hard as I stood to her.

I moved closer to her and she didn't move, strong and rooted in one spot but her eyes gave away her weakness, there was no space between us anymore, it felt like we were back in that night when it all happened.

Her lips parted slightly as she tried to breathe.

“Mr Hale….. her voice comes out in the most delicious manner, you’re standing too close” she breathes hardly enough for me to hear.

I tried to say something, move away and hide this possessive nature that’s about to talk place but instead the scent hit me so strongly.

Wolf.

But it wasn’t like the ones I smell, it felt hidden and untouched mixed with humans.

She was a lone wolf, She had no pack scent, No alpha scent and no one to protect and the only thing I could hear in my head was mine.

My wolf was roaring inside me wanting to claim her, I knew I could never, the things that happened to the women who were mated to me.

But I knew I could never let her go. She was mine alone, mine to destroy, mine to protect and mine to ruin.

“Mr Hale ” She called again and this time there was a nervous and fearful look in her eyes. I moved even closer as I bent my mouth to her neck, looking at the same place I was supposed to mark.

Make her a part of my pack and my mate but something in me snapped again and I raised my head up and now the fear was evident in her eyes.

I slowly ran my fingers on the marking spot in her neck as our eyes ran into the other again. “ You’re are mine Aria, mine alone”
