Chapter 4

Taking the job as his personal assistant was the last thing I would ever wish for myself but that was exactly what I was doing at that moment.

Ava wanted me to take the job, the pay was good and that meant I might get better accommodation but what I still don’t understand is that I would work under the same man I had a one night stand with.

After madam Rosie gave me that information she gave me that week off to get myself prepared for my new job.

Mr Hale never bothered to reach out to me even after we had sex but yet I couldn’t imagine what he wanted from me.

Ava had to retain her job at the publishing firm with a higher pay and as for me I had to resume as the person assisting the most powerful man in the whole city.

Standing in the familiar building that felt distant just a week ago, I can’t help but imagine how everything has changed in just a trickle of an eye.

I was dressed in my blazer top and skirt that match my whole fucking Job description and now I was sitting and waiting for the same lady who had shown me my way the first day to lead me to his office.

Mr Hale doesn't like strangers making his tea, as his personal assistant the first thing you need to do is make his tea, a description would be given to you on how he loves his tea made then after that, you can go ahead and tell him about all his activities of the day and let me warn you Aria he doesn't take no for an answer and he hates incompetence.

If you know you want your job and you want your company to have their share with the Hale institution you have to show your worth and work a billion times harder than you should ever do and lastly try never to get on his nerves, he has a very short temper.

I said nothing but forced the smile from my lips as I looked at her .

She signs after showing me my new space and then she heads back, “welcome to Hale Institution Aria, I’m pretty sure you’re going to love your stay here”.

The smile suddenly wipes off my face when she walks out. I took a good look at my space, it had a table, a reading light, even flowers and pottery at the end of it and it looked even better than my space at my formal company.

My first day at work was nothing but calmness. By 9am on the dot, I saw him walk right past my office and when it was 10 I picked all the files that I had gone through and with his task for the day I headed for his office.

A slight knock was all I needed and the door automatically slid open.

The moment it does, my eyes falls on him, today he wore a different plain white long-sleeved with black pants including a tie to match, I could literally see him twirling around his chair but yet when the door open his eyes was on me, it was nice like he had been waiting the whole time.

My chest immediately started beating again even faster than all the other times that I had met and the events from that night wouldn’t stop flashing on my head.

I swallowed and took the boldest step walking into the office.

Good morning Mr Hale.I say calmly, forcing out the smile that I never knew I had. “ I guess you had the perfect night”

He stopped twirling before staring at me.

His face was plain, it was the same look he had given me the first day he saw me.

I swallowed nothing in particular as I dropped his work for the day on top of the table. I couldn’t even stand there and look at his face anymore.

I moved back a bit as I stared at him hoping he did say something but he wouldn’t.

Are you going to say something? The words slipped out of my mouth before I could control myself.

The look on his face totally changed and now there was this serious look that I couldn’t stand.

“What about Miss Aria ? He drags my name from his lips, never breaking eye contact.

I swallowed nothing as I stared at him and for the first time I hated myself for what I had done, I had no fucking self control.

His eyes were still cold and plain, totally out of place as he stared at me.

He stood up and slowly approached me. I didn't move an inch backward but my eyes never left the man.

I was tired of being intimidated and being treated like trash by every man that I got myself involved with.

First it was my mate, now my boss wouldn't acknowledge the one night stand we had.

Once he gets to where he slowly dips his hands into my hair and I slide them down. I could hear my heart pounding hard against my chest as little breaks of sweat started coming out from my forehead.

“Whatever you thought we had was a mistake Aria, you can at least check your account, I paid you off like every whore I sleep with.

Whore, did he just call me a fucking whore ? I tried to say something again but this time he was dangerously close, I could literally feel his breath closer to my face than ever.

One word about our affair and your career is going down. you should have said no the moment I kissed you but you did kiss me back and that only meant that you wanted it.

Do not mistake an affair for a hand of friendship or even still think that it means that I like you, I don’t.

I would tolerate your incompetence for today but the next time you get on my nerves trust me both you and your godforsake company can go to hell.
