Brieanna nuzzled her face against her pillow and screamed. She's so mad at herself. She couldn't even write something anymore! Well she can write words that doesn't make sense and it's frustrating her already.
She turned and faced her empty ceiling.
"Ugh! Can I just die already!?" Screaming once again. She sit up with a grumpy face and took her phone from the side. Turning it on, she saw a text from her cousin's grandmother, inviting everyone in the clan for a family gathering before Christmas.
"A family gathering that means bragging and comparison within riches-cool. It ain't my type," she scorned reading the damn text and tossed her phone to the side as she got off the bed. "What a beautiful fucking Sunday!"
Brieanna walk towards her cabinet and opened it. She took out a box full of letters and different pocket books. She squat on the floor and started picking up the books inside. Every book has a story to tell. Every letter she has, she needs to write back but...
She sighed knowing the person who always has her back is gone. Her partner in crime is gone and now she's just so lost.
*knock* knock*
Brieanna immediately put her things back in the cabinet. She cleared her throat.
"What?" She yelled.
"Later-"
"Yeah I read! I'm not going!" She yelled again cutting her aunt.
That's when her aunt Mary step inside her room and glared at her.
"Are you really going to be like this Brie? Can't you really go and show up atleast this time? It's a family dinner for God's sake! Get your lazy ass up and get dressed when I come back! It's a long way there!" Mary shouted angrily at Brieanna and left her room.
Brieanna let out a sarcastic laugh as soon as she was sure her aunt was gone. Yeah fuck her life!
What am I going to do Kirb? Everyone seems to be joining forces to bring me down.
Even when she didn't want to she has to so she opened her wardrobe. "What do I gotta wear to surprise these people?" she mumbled as she put a finger against her chin, thinking the best suit.
When Brieanna finished dressing up, she looked at herself in the mirror. She smirked seeing how she looks like in her big grey hoodie and big pants.
"Hey there aunties! I know, I look bang-up!" She said, winking at herself in the mirror.
"You look flipping crazy! Are you seriously going to wear that?" Asked Kendal, her other cousin, who's like a sister to her. "You know, nobody's going to like that! You know they prefer to see ladies on dresses, Brie."
Brie faced Kendal and she grinned at her.
"Don't the elderly like uniqueness? I mean come on! Don't they know that being comfortable is more important than dressing up to please people?" She asked moving her brow up and down.
Kendal rolled her eyes. "Ugh! What am I going to do with you! Also, you are just going to embarrass grandmother and aunt Mary! They will flip for sure!"
"Well, they forced me in this! And so you're driving?" Brieanna asked.
"Yes! So if you're ready to face insults then head downstairs." After Kendal said that, she left.
Brieanna sighed, still looking at herself in the mirror. She put her back pack on and salute to herself before heading out.
Arriving at her grandmother's sibling's house she laughed in mockery. She saw a big tarpaulin hanging outside the gate congratulating her second degree cousin, Amanda for passing the bar exam.
"C'mon now, Brie. Don't make any discomfiting move, please." Kendal said as soon as they park. She looked at Brie one more time and hopped off the car.
"Discomfiting move my ass," Brie mumbled rolling her eyes. She unfastened her seatbelt, before going out she took a deep breath and exhaled.
Brieanna opened the door and head out, leaving her back pack. She cooly walk towards the crowd of relatives that she has.
Everyone gaped at how Brie was dressed. It was a formal family dinner and she just went her way to dress like that.
"Yo couz!" Brie called out Amanda. "Congratulations on passing the bar exam. Finally! You're a lawyer," she said smiling at Amanda.
Amanda smiled back at Brie and said, "Thank you but has no one told you that this is a formal family dinner?"
"Uhm... article 25 of the UDHR. Also article 19 confirmed choosing which I choose to wear is part of 'right to freedom of expression'. What I wear, expresses myself," Brieanna answered with a grin.
Amanda scoffed and looked at Brie from head to toe with that eyes full of judgement. "You're still nothing, Brie."
"Yeah, I know. I'm still a worthless being."
"Brieanna!" Someone called her out.
Amanda and her turned to see who called her out. She then saw her other aunt named, Susie.
"Hi Aunt Susie! It's nice to see you," Brieanna faked smile at her plastic asf aunt.
Susie pulled her into a hug and they beso. "Why are you dressed like this in my daughter's party?"
"Well I thought this was a family dinner and not a party," Brei replied to her aunt. She knows what's going to happen as she looked at their surrounding.
Susie was smiling but deep inside she hated this worthless human being in front of her. "Well, why don't you take a seat on your table?"
"Right!" Brie uttered and then excused herself.
As she was just reaching their table, she saw her aunt and her grandmother together with her cousins glaring at her. Then when she sat down she knows what they are going to say.
"Really Brie? You went here with that? And what? Didn't you see everyone had their eyes on you! I told you to dress up!" Mary yelled at her niece.
Brie chose not to say anything, she just made a face and looked down.
"Brie, what is wrong with you?" Asked her grandmother.
She still didn't say anything.
"Just don't talk to that lazy shit anymore," Mary told her mother.
They all heard a wine glass being belled with a fork and everyone faced front. It was Susie making the opening remark.
"Good evening my dear family and friends," Susie started. "I see everyone is dressed formally except for one ugly duckling at the side," she purposely joked and laughed. Everyone stared at Brieanna then the crowd was filled with chuckles.
"Yeah, I'll be a swan soon!" Brie yelled that earned her a dirty stare from her aunt.
"Anyways, please don't embarrass her as she has stack of embarrassment from her past already..."
Yeah... as if you know what the hell I've been to.
"You're all gathered here because I want to thank all of you for your prayers and for my daughter Amanda, who passed the bar exam." Susie started to get emotional which disgusts Brie so much.
"I can say now that my daughter isn't worthless. She's not someone who acts cooly and thinks the world orbits around her. She's so unlike a worthless lazy girl that we all know who." Susie joked again making everyone gossip.
Brieanna clenched her fist. One more insult and she swear she will blow the shit up.
"I'm thankful that I have a daughter like Amanda and not like Brieanna."
That's it!
Brieanna stood up and everyone stared at her sudden move.
"Brie! Don't you dare do it!" Mary muttered angrily.
Brie didn't mind her aunt. She faced and smiled to everyone.
"Well actually, I'm also glad that you're not my mother! Imagining myself being forced to wear dresses and wearing powdery make ups to cover up dirty deeds and attitude? Man! Are you kidding me? I'm proud of what I've become because I've been through a lot just to get to this night," she stops, glances at everyone, a side of her mouth up. "And if you're just going to insult me the whole night because I dressed comfortably and refused to be a victim of your authority then fuck yourself aunt Susie! Have a good night to all of you!"
Brieanna then started to walk away but before she goes out of that sickening crowd she has a message to say. "Also, I'm glad I'm not a victim of the world wide system called 'beautiful people'."
Brieanna went to Kendal's car and took out her back pack. She slammed the door. Behind that brave lady who spoke earlier is an always emotional human being."Brie! Brieanna!" Kendal called out for her but she didn't listen, she just wanted to go home already. She was going out the gate when Kendal hold on to her arm. Brie glared at her."What?" She yelled and shoved Kendal's hand."Go back and apologize to aunt Susie and everyone! That was really embarrassing!" Kendal yelled."No! All of you think of me as worthless, lazy, useless and mostly an embarrassment! Know what? I'm just so done with all these insult!" Brieanna said and wiped her tears. She look at Kendal one more time and tu
William felt like he needed to go to the global beach for a while. He needed to see the beach to remind him that these people in the crowd has their own issues like him too. They're all facing a battle. Will parked and was about to open the door when he saw this lady who passed in front of his car. He doesn't know why but he was drawn to her. His gazed had followed her until she was out of his sight. Who the heck was that? He went out the car and hurry to look for that lady, but she was nowhere to be found. Damn! He sighed, upset that he couldn't see her. Well, not for him. Turning around, he went on the other side of the beach. Those feeling he felt when he saw that lady, it's nothing like before. Seeing that expression
Brieanna woke up at almost 1 pm and because she woke up late she missed her free breakfast. So now what she did was just eat cookies after getting a new sim card. She needed it for booking a motorbike from a website called Book2wheel. Getting at that website, she started filling up all the blanks and choosing how long, which motorbike, and blah blah blah. She immediately received a confirmation email with her reservation details and number from the website after choosing to pay cash when she picks up the motorbike. The only thing she needs to do now is wait for the motorbike owner to confirm. It was almost two thirty in the afternoon when she received the confirmation text from the owner. She stopped writing and head out. Brieanna didn't know where the meet up place was so she start
William stared at the beach while he stays and lean forward on the rails on his front porch. Why was she staring at the ocean with those dreary eyes? He hasn't seen someone in the place who stared at the ocean like that. She seemed so lost. He closed his eyes. "You can't help her, William! You're as hopeless as her," William mumbled to himself, then he straight up drink the left beer in his bottle. ••• The next day William decided to visit Brieanna-well actually just spy on her. He went to the resort where she was staying. Why he knows? He owns the resort and he was the one who changed the price for her. He went aroun
Brieanna just had her free breakfast. She decided to wake up early today for it's her big day. She went to the public beach to just look around at people. How could everyone here be so happy? She asked in her mind. Everyone here smiles as if they don't have problems. When it was around 2:00 PM she decided to go back to her cottage. It's almost time and she had a wonderful lunch and morning so what's there to miss? She packed up her things in her bag. She decided to wear a plain white cocktail dress today, she put on a shade touch of nude matte lipstick, put on some mascara and comb her hair. No messy buns today, it's her funeral.Once she was satisfied with how she looked, she went out of her room and put the key on the doorstep. She hop on to her bike and started to drive at the meet
William was still catching his breath as he got home. He looked at where Brieanna always park her rented bike but there's nothing he saw. So he tossed his head up, frustrated that he couldn't find her!Why would she say have a good life if she won't do anything? She could've said good night! He thought. Ugh! Where could she be?William was about to go when at the far side of the next cliff he saw her spreading her arms. It looked like she was feeling the wind on her face. Her hair was being blown. He sighed in relief that he finally saw her alive and standing. He closed his eyes and looked down for a moment to finally catch his breath. The moment he look back at where she's at his eyes widened, she was nowhere. He frowned at her sudden disappearance.
"Here, change your clothes with these for now," William said handing her his big clothes and his boxer. Brieanna took the clothes he handed. She cleared her throat and looked at the side. "Thank you," she said shyly. "We'll get you new clothes tomorrow. More comfortable ones than my old clothes. Also you can change in that room," he said and pointed a room. "My room is in the opposite side. You're staying with me while you're in this island." She couldn't say anything, it's embarrassing that she's going to stay in William's place. "I'm going out to get us food. Don't try to kill yourself. Be good and feel at home." After saying that William left. Brieanna was still wrapped up in
"You sure you're okay wearing that?" William asked Brieanna for the 8th time now. Brieanna rolled her eyes as she closes the car door. "I told you it's fine. You helped me too much." "You help me more," William uttered and started to drive away. Brieanna doesn't know how to act around him anymore. She's quiet shy that she's indebted to him. At some point, she thinks they were destined to meet. How does a stranger save her like they already knew each other? "Do you surf?" He asked all a sudden that snapped Brie from thinking. "Hmm...no, I don't really." "Well, know how to?" He asked again.
