Chapter 2

Lycan Alpha, Elijah's POV.

It's been long since I saw my friend, my friend who left me to die, so he could have it all.

Seated on the couch in the living room, I pictured what he had grown to be like. What his face would look like to see me alive.

“Everything is ready, Alpha.” My Beta, Randy, said to me with a bow.

“Yeah, let's go.”

We exited the house, got in the car and drove to his birthday party. The party had just started when I got there, and I could say it was the fun part, Danes rejected his mate. Making the guests turn to each other, murmuring.

“Hey, buddy!” I whispered softly in the air, with a big smile on my face.

I could see the confusion on his face, he definitely recognized my voice. His eyes found mine amidst the crowd.

“Hey, buddy!” I waved at him.

It was as though he saw a ghost. Yes, a very much alive one.

The moment the maid accepted the rejection, I felt my mate bond.

“Finally! I could take that as a give, Danes.”

Looking around, my eyes found the maid, she is my mate.

“Randy, I want you to find out about that made and schedule a meeting with her.” I whispered to him.

“Yes, Alpha.”

He walked out of the hall, following the maid.

“Having rejected the unwanted mate.....” Though he tried to keep his voice firm, I could sense his fear. “I'll like you all to meet my fiancée, Lucia.”

Applause roared in the air as a lady stood up from the front roll and approached him, she placed a kiss on his lips and turned to the crowd.

“There she is, my sole revenge.” My lips curled in disgust.

“I have no idea what to say or where to start from. This is the best day of my life.....”

While she continued her speech, Danes got on one knee behind her with a ring held out in hand. The guests roared with happy shrieks, which made her look back.

“Oh my goodness!” She gasped softly.

“Will you do me the honor of spending the rest of your life with me?”

“Yes!” She jumped with joy as he placed the ring on her finger.

“Enjoy it while it lasts, Danes. I'll be here to make your life a misery.”

My mind drifted back to my mate, I have to go meet with her. After several years since Bella died, I finally got a second chance mate.

I left the buzzing crowd and went to a place which seemed like a guest living room, where Randy and the maid were waiting for me.

They stood up and bowed as I sat down.

“What's your name?”

“My name is Alexey, Alpha.”

The mere sound of her voice brought a smile to my face.

My eyes fell on her hands which were shaking though intertwined.

“You can relax, I'm not going to hurt you. I just need to talk to you.”

I was about to offer her a seat when Danes walked into the room with a cold stare.

“What are you doing here?”

“Oh!” I whined, got up and took some steps closer to him. “That's no way to greet an old friend.”

“You're not welcome here, so take your leave.”

“How dare you talk to the Lycan Alpha in such a manner?” Randy snapped, ready to fight.

“Easy, Randy. Take the lady away while my buddy and I do some catching up.”

“Lycan Alpha?” He mumbled, lost and confused.

Randy and the maid left while I sat down, waiting for him to do the same.

“What are you doing here, Elijah?”

“Why don't we start from where you left me to die….” A grin marred my face, my brows narrowed at him. “In that fire.”

“Your price?” His quivering lips asked as he leaned back on the couch.

“Oh!” I scoffed with a wave. “You have nothing to.......” I smacked my lower lip as an idea struck my mind. “Maybe you do have something to offer me.”

“What is that?”

“Your woman…. She's an epitome of beauty.”

I watched his face go red with rage as I spoke.

“Only a joke, it was only a joke.” I laughed.

“But do you have anything to offer me?”

“I see you have an interest in Alexey, how about I sell her to you?”

“Sell her to me?” A stern contoured my face.

“I know she's quite a stubborn one, she would rather go rogue than spend another day here.”

“Sure, sell her to me, then.”

Danes invited her over.

“You're now his.” His cold voice broke her more, tears oozing from her eyes.

“Never. I refused to be sold.” Her teary voice broke my heart, I wished I could make it stop. “I'm no longer yours to claim, I'm now a rogue wolf.” Pain clouded her voice.

“More reason you are his now.” He snapped and walked away.

I watched Alexey stand there for a while, crying her eyes out, and I approached her. My arm was wrapped around her shoulder as I pulled her into a side hug.

“You have nothing to worry about, and it's fine if you would rather not come with me. I'm glad to buy you your freedom.”

“No, Alpha….” She wiped her face, sniffed and gently pulled away from the hug.

“I have no place to go, so please accept me.”

I wiped the tears in her face.

“You'll never have to cry about anything again, Alexey.” I promised her in my thoughts.

The three of us got in the car and set for my pack. How arrogant of Danes?

“I'll be back for you, buddy. This time, it would take a long while to forget about me.”
