View MoreThe noise of the city woke me up, and as I stretched in bed, I stared at the ceiling for a few minutes. The night before had been great; I can finally say that a man truly appealed to me beyond just for one night. I had finally found a man who was worth it, worthy of being introduced to my parents, or well, to my mother. Carlo was funny, handsome, in his forties, had a great job; we were both lawyers, he was simply perfect, we clicked wonderfully.
"Good morning, sleepyhead," he said to me as he watched me from the doorway.
I got out of bed, took the shirt I had taken off him the night before and put it on my naked body. Then, I walked towards him in a sensual manner.
"Since when have you been here?" I asked him.
He grabbed me by the waist and pulled me towards his chest. I tiptoed and gave him a sweet kiss on the lips. All of this seemed like something out of a movie scene; everything felt so perfect and unreal.
"Long enough to know that you snore," he said with a slight smile.
I lightly hit his chest, but we both laughed.
"You're so bad," I said to him.
He led me out of the room and took me to the kitchen, where he picked me up and placed me on the counter, getting between my legs.
"I've never been with a woman like you," he said as he kissed my neck.
I bit my lip as I enjoyed his caresses; I must admit that this man had it all. A good job, he was handsome, and he was a beast in bed; I had hit the jackpot completely.
"Do you want to come with me to my sister's wedding?" I asked him.
He stopped kissing my neck and looked at me.
"I would love to," he said with a smile.
I hugged him by the neck; he lifted me off the counter, and I wrapped my legs around his waist.
"Surprise!" several voices shouted.
He moved me away from his body, and I fell to the cold floor on my butt.
"I can explain," he said.
I looked up at him; I didn't understand anything, so I got up and looked towards the door, where there was a very pregnant woman and two young children.
"Bitch!" the pregnant woman shouted at me.
I looked at the miserable man and, angrily, punched him.
"Son of a bitch! When were you going to tell me that you were married and had two and a half kids?" I asked him.
I moved away from him and walked to the nearby couch, picked up my purse and my heels; then, I looked at the woman, who seemed dismayed by what was happening.
"He's not worth it. He's not as big as to cry over him, and I'm sorry, I swear I didn't know he had a wife and kids, and I know it sounds like an excuse, but it's not," I told her.
I pulled out a card and handed it to her; it was the least I could do for her.
"If you want to divorce him, call me. I'll work for you for free, and I swear I'll strip him down to the underwear he's wearing," I assured her.
She, with tears in her eyes, nodded.
"Thank you," she said to me.
I smiled at her, gave one last look to the coward, and left that place. Damn! Everything that happened to me for looking for a partner for that stupid marriage.
One week later
I'm Katerina Sinclair, I'm thirty-six years old, and I'm the top lawyer in all of London. I'm the best at my job; that's why all the cheated women want to work with me. It seems like my track record of wins has created some fame and trust. I always strive to get the best deal for my clients, and so far, things have been going pretty well. Who would have thought that the world of divorces would be so exciting and lucrative!
"Kat, your mother has been calling persistently," my secretary told me as she entered the office.
I frowned; she was surely going to ask me about the name of my companion for my sister's stupid wedding with my ex-fiancé. Just remembering that makes me angry, but like the adult woman I am, I pretend that I don't care that my ex is now months away from marrying my little sister. Who would get engaged to the little sister of the woman he was going to marry years ago? Only an unhappy and unfortunate person like my ex.
"Tell her I'm dead," I said to her.
Lily immediately put on a sour face; my mother could be a pain in the butt when she wanted to be.
"That's the first thing I told her, and she said to get you out of the grave, but she wanted to talk to you," she replied.
"I'll call her back later," I assured Lily.
Lily sighed.
"If she calls again, I'll bring you the phone," she threatened.
I nodded; my mother could get on anyone's nerves. She left my office, and I returned to focusing on work.
The door opened again, and my best friend walked in; she sat across from me and grinned from ear to ear.
Grace had been my friend since we were little; I thought when we chose different careers we would drift apart, but it was quite the opposite, now she's a successful wedding planner and I'm an excellent lawyer."I'm in love!" she shouted at the top of her lungs.
I looked at her; she had said the same thing to me at least three times this month.
"Again?" I asked her.
She rolled her eyes.
"Why are you so annoying?" she asked me.
I shrugged.
"I don't know, maybe because this is the fifth time this month you've told me the same thing?" I asked her.
"I was ovulating, but this time it's serious, I think I'll be getting married soon," she said.
Grace was... I had no words to describe her; she had already been through two divorces, both as a result of her fleeting infatuation. The first time she got married was at twenty, and she divorced after eight months because she didn't like how the guy chewed. Her other divorce happened a year ago, and the same thing happened again; she married the man deeply in love, literally, her wedding was like a fairy tale, but within a year she discovered they weren't compatible, so she divorced.
"At least I know I'll get a good chunk of money from that future divorce," I told her.
She glared at me, but then completely ignored my words and continued smiling.
"I swear, this time he's the one," she said dreamily.
I took a deep breath.
"Do you have a photo?" I asked her.
She nodded, took out her phone, and showed me the picture; there were two guys in the photo, I raised an eyebrow and looked at her.
"Which one?" I asked her.
She pointed to the gray-haired guy; I could tell he was in his forties and looked quite good.
"You should find out if he has a wife, or you'll end up like me," I told her.
She pulled her phone away from me.
"I know he's not like that, Michael is perfect," she said.
I took a deep breath; I also thought that bastard was perfect and it turned out he had a wife and kids.
"I'm just giving you advice," I told her.
She nodded and stood up.
"Let's go to lunch, I'm starving," she said.
I nodded and got up; we both left my office.
"I have tickets to watch the race this weekend; come with me, I don't want to go alone," she asked.
Grace loved watching fast cars race, although what she liked most were the drivers who drove those cars.
"Are you going to drink?" I asked her as we walked to our favorite restaurant.
She shook her head immediately. That was another problem when she bet on one of them and lost; she took it too seriously, and I always ended up having to take her drunken loser ass home, and that wasn't the worst part, I had to listen to her rant all the way because according to her they always cheated so she wouldn't win.
"Of course not, I've promised not to drink anymore," she said.
I took a deep breath; I didn't believe her at all, but I would still go with her; there always needed to be a sober person to prevent some jerk from taking advantage of her.
"What time are we leaving?" I asked.
Grace jumped for joy and hugged me tightly. As if she didn't know I was going to go with her anyway.
Two months later.Hayden had left for the workshop early without telling me, or rather ordering me, not to come see the race. Ethan was still too young, and I understood that, but today was the big final, and it seemed fair that our little one saw his father's victory.I called Grace and asked her to come for me. Naturally, she agreed immediately. So here I was, at the door, waiting for my crazy friend, with a bag containing my baby's things and a two-month-old baby in her baby carrier.Grace's car pulled up in front of my house. I hurried over, settled my baby in the back seat, and then got into the front passenger seat next to Grace."Your husband is going to kill me," she said with a smile."He'll kill both of us, so hurry up or we'll be late, and I want to wish him good luck," I told her.Grace nodded and sped off."You haven't been drinking, have you?" I asked her.Grace immediately gave me a dirty look."I'm not a monster, Kat," she said.I shrugged and then smiled at her."Just
Months later.I started placing photos from my wedding with Hayden everywhere, along with some other pictures. I wanted our home to be as cozy as possible."Love, can you help me move this?" I shouted.Hayden appeared shirtless and sweaty, as he was organizing furniture for the baby's room."Darling, stop moving so much, you're in the final days. You're supposed to be resting," he said to me.I rolled my eyes immediately. I hated doing nothing and leaving all the work to him."I'm just putting up some photos. My arm won't fall off," I told him.Grudgingly, Hayden moved a small table that was in the way."Sit down, for God's sake, you're making me nervous," he said.I approached him and hugged him."I'm all sweaty," he said.I shrugged."You look very sexy," I said to him.He smiled."Please sit down," he asked.I let go of him and suddenly felt water running down my legs."Damn," I said.Hayden looked at me nervously."What happened?" he asked.I smiled at him."My water broke. I thin
The most important day of my life arrived. Grace was with me in my parents' room, helping me finish getting ready. I felt like a very pregnant princess."You look like a tent, but one of the cute ones," Grace said out of the blue.I glared at her and she started laughing."Sorry, I'm just nervous. This is your first wedding. I'm as nervous as I was when I lost my virginity," she said.I blinked a few times, still staring at her."How about you stop talking?" I suggested. She immediately rolled her eyes."I'm just nervous," she said.I moved closer to her and hugged her."I'm so happy that you're happy," she said with a trembling voice.I pulled away and smiled. Grace was crying."Thank you for always being by my side, and thanks for all your advice, even though sometimes they're not the best," I said. She hugged me tightly."Let's hurry out or we'll ruin our makeup," she said.We both separated and smiled. Grace left the room, and moments later my father entered."You look so perfect,
Days passed without any problems. Hayden and I were living a dream. In fact, from the moment he proposed to me, Grace and I started planning my wedding. I wanted something small but beautiful, an idea that Grace didn't like at all. She wanted something extravagant, the wedding of the year, according to her.She and I were sitting on the floor of my apartment, flipping through bridal magazines."We could rent a hall, I promise the wedding will be wonderful," Grace suggested."I want it to be in my father's garden, something small but beautiful," I said with a smile. She rolled her eyes."Do you want a wedding like your sister's?" she asked.I immediately shook my head. Despite many changes made to my sister's wedding, it was... boring to my taste. I wanted it to be joyful but intimate."I don't understand you. So, you just want some flowers, tables, and that's it?" she asked."You hit the nail on the head, that's exactly what I want, small but beautiful," I replied with a smile."If an
Hayden had gone on a trip with the team. I couldn't go with him due to work reasons, so I called him every day to ask how he was, and when I didn't call, he called me. It was sweet, I loved feeling so pampered and loved.Today I was in the office, reviewing some documents. Honestly, all I really wanted was to go home and sleep. With pregnancy, I had become a lazy person.Lily entered my office and looked at me."Kat, someone wants to talk to you," Lily said."I'm not in the mood for anyone," I replied. She took a deep breath."It's Hayden's sister, and she says she won't leave without talking to you," she said.I rolled my eyes. After the argument with Hayden's father, I thought everything was over, but apparently not."Tell her to come in," I said.Lily nodded and left my office. After a brief moment, Hayden's sister entered. She looked at me and smirked."So, is it true you're pregnant?" she said."What do you want?" I asked irritably. She smiled."Just saying hello, that's all," sh
El rugido de los motores llenaba el lugar mientras Grace and I approached the engineers and Jona, who looked somewhat worried. I glanced at Hayden's car, lined up at the starting line with the others."Trust Hayden," I said to Jona.He looked at me."I trust him, I know we'll win," he said.I nodded. Jona took off his headphones and handed them to me. I put them on immediately."The victory is yours, love," I told Hayden."I love you," Hayden replied."Focus. You can tell me you love me later," I said."Just wanted to remind you, but yeah, I'll tell you later," he said.I glanced to the side and noticed the others with headphones laughing."Okay, you're embarrassing me," I told him.I took off the headphones and handed them back to Jona, who was smiling broadly. The stands were filled with the colors of different teams. The crowd's cheers filled the entire place. It felt so exciting. The lights went out, and the cars sped off, filling the air with the smell of gasoline and burning rub
