Chapter 5

"Okay. We're here", Anthony announced as he drove into his compound and stopped the car.

They both came out and he noticed she was observing the house. From the look on her face, she didn't look like she was particularly admiring it.

"Let's get inside", he said and he got the door open.

They both entered the house and he saw that she was still checking out the house in silence.

"So... Do you like it?", He asked.

She kept silent for a couple of seconds before turning to him.

"No"

Anthony was stunned by her response.

"What? W... Why?"

"I've never been to a house so dull. The only colours I see is black and white. You don't even have anything that has color in your living room. You have the same paint colors for your exterior. Just black and white. All your cars are black, your walls are white. On the inside, your walls are white, and your furnitures are black. Your house has no life whatsoever in it. I've been to smaller house that have less eyesore paint colors. Your house looks like a psychiatric home - except, these colors would make the patients more deranged...", she kept on spilling without control as she took a look around the house once more.

She turned to him again.

"Are you depressed?", She questioned with a straight face.

"W... What?"

"It's a simple question. Are you depressed? Cause that the only logic explanation for how mundane your house looks"

"No! I'm... I'm not depressed. I just like the colors black and white. I makes a home... Cosy"

She scoffed in mockery.

"This does not look cosy one bit."

Anthony couldn't believe that this Vivian girl was making these kinds of statements about his house, despite the fact that he was the one accommodating her... For free! He regretted asking her whether she liked the house. It wasn't like she had a choice.

He tried to put that aside...

"Let me show you to your room", he said and led the way upstairs.

They got into the guest room. It turned out that Rebecca had touched up the room a little for Vivian leaving the city for her masters. So it didn't look as "dull" as the rest of house.

"This is much better. Thank goodness the colors are not the same here. I would've had nightmares", she said a chuckle.

Anthony opened his mouth to speak, but he immediately bit his tongue. This was his sister's guest. He didn't want to do anything to make his sister sad.

"Have you had something to eat, or..."

"Do you have coffee?"

"Yes. It's in the kitchen"

"Good. I can't sleep without it. That'll be all for now. Let me get freshen up and have a cup or two", she said.

"Knock yourself out", Anthony replied and left the room the immediately.

He got into his room and crashed on the bed.

He had a feeling that when Rebecca described her friend as "lively", she meant a lot more than that, and he was right. This was not being. He couldn't still get over what happened to him back in the living room. This was the first time someone was complaining about the way his house looked, and she did it in the worst way possible.

Anthony could only hope that he hadn't put himself in a mess that he wouldn't be get out of for a few months time.

Anthony took a good look at himself once more at the mirror. Satisfied with what he saw, he took his suit jacket and briefcase and when out of his room. He went down the stairs straight to the kitchen.

He went the cupboard where he coffee to brew.

Vivian made a lot of noise till the wee hours of the morning. So much noise, he could barely sleep. He could almost her perfectly clear while she was on the phone whoever it was she was chatting with.

She kept banging her door shut whenever she went out of her room, and she went out a lot. He didn't know why she kept going out of the room, but the way she banged the door shut whenever she got out deprived him of good. At first, he was confused when she told him that she needs coffee to sleep. No normal person needed coffee to sleep.

Now, he was going to need coffee to survive the rest of day, as he didn't get enough sleep.

He opened the cupboard and took out of the coffee container, and to his surprise, the container was empty!

"Wha...", He stared at the container and Shaked it in disbelief.

Surely, Vivian didn't...

It wasn't possible...

"Vivian!", He called as he went out of the kitchen with the empty container in his hand.

"Vivian! Viv-"

"Yo"

He watched as she came down the stairs. She looked like an unhealthy zombie.

"Good morning", he greeted when he realized she wasn't ready to.

"Morning", she mumbled tiredly.

"I wanted to have a cup of coffee this morning, and I realized that it was empty. What happened?", He asked.

"Oh, the coffee. It got finished", she answered with a loud yawn. She didn't bother to cover or close her mouth as she yawned.

"Got finished, by who?"

"By me"

"That's... That's not possible, Vivian. I bought a full can of coffee powder three day ago, and I haven't even touched it. Surely, you aren't telling me that you brewed a whole can of coffee in one night, are you?"

"That's what I'm trying to tell you. I finished the entire can, and to be honest, it was barely enough. When next you're buying coffee powder, buy a mega size can. These small cans do not do any good-"

"Vivian, I need to take a cup of coffee before I go to work today. What do expect me to do, now that you finished the whole can of coffee powder?"

"Uhmm... Get an Expresso on your way? Duhhh?", She rolled her eyes.

Once again, Anthony found himself biting his tongue hard, stopping himself from lashing out on Vivian. The nerve of this woman to tell him to get an Expresso after she finished his coffee powder. He preferred making his own coffee, cause no one knew how to make it perfectly. Now, he was going to have to force himself to drink something he wouldn't like.

"Alright. I'm going to work", he said and headed for the door.

"Wait!", She stopped him.

"What?"

"I have an important appointment to make right now, and you need to take me there"
