Chapter 11

Several weeks passed without my agreeing to see Luthias.  I used whatever excuse I could to avoid him, while I grilled Ferguson on the ways of the castle and Vampire Land.  Pierre took it upon himself to escort me through the gardens daily, but otherwise, he kept busy with mysterious matters of state that he assured me I’d find too taxing without being slowly integrated into Vampire Land’s political structure.  He insisted that being seen walking in the gardens with him on a daily basis was the best way to develop acceptance with my subjects.  I grew frustrated with my lack of progress.  I knew I needed to reconnect with Luthias if I was to make headway, but I just couldn’t bring myself to face him. 

I contemplated the fact that my childish behavior was threatening the success of my mission while made my way to what many would consider an ostentatious dining room and took my seat at the center of the oversized table. Vampire Lan
