“How dare she hit me?” I muttered as I slammed my hands on the desk furiously. In my 25 years of living, no one has ever raised their hands to me… not even my parents. Where did this deranged woman come from? Oh no! I cannot take this lying down whatsoever. I am going to teach her a very good lesson that she would not forget in a hurry. But first of all, who was she? First she was at my house and now she was at my work? If she was a stalker then she should be worshipping the ground I walk on… her violent attitude confused me. I huffed and shook my head before returning to my seat. I am a popular business tycoon that most people would kill to be in the same room with. She was too insignificant to get me all worked up like this. I will leave the investigation to Mark instead, he should be able to find out who she was with her details that must have been taken during her interview. I sent a quick text to Mark and went back to face my laptop screen. There was so much work to do in this branch and I have to get them up to speed before the annual business conference. The door suddenly opened, cutting me off from thoughts. The manager stepped in looking a little flustered and confused. “Erm… Sir, I just saw the new secretary storm out without a word… is everything al..alright?” I looked at her briefly and responded in a curt tone. “You tell me! So any crazy person can just walk in here and get a job? Is this how bad this branch has fallen?” I could see her shake in fear from the corner of my eyes but I didn't care. Most people find me strict and intimidating but to me, that was the only way to get people to listen and command respect. “I..I’m sorry sir, I…’’ she stammered but I interrupted with a gesture of my hand. “No need for pointless excuses. She is fired so get me another secretary… a good one this time” I instructed. She hesitated before bowing slightly, “Okay sir. Sorry for the inconveniences once again” She left soon after and I returned back to work. But the more I tried to concentrate, the thought of that wretch wouldn't leave my mind. She infuriated me to bits but somehow I couldn't forget the taste of her which infuriated me even more. “Fuck!” I cussed and got up from my seat. Perhaps it was this office making me restless, I needed some fresh air or maybe a drink or too. It would be my first time skipping work like this. I got up and left the office to a five star restaurant I usually frequented. It was not too far from the office so I arrived in less than 30 minutes and I was ushered in specially as a VIP. “My usual please” I said as the waitress came to my table and she nodded in understanding. I was scrolling through my phone as I waited and that was when a pair of heels came into my line of sight. “Mr Alfred, you are here… it's so nice to see you” a familiar pitchy voice greeted me as I raised my head to see who it was. Shit! Camila Alves Her makeup filled face brightened and she squealed, bouncing on her feet like a child. “Fancy meeting you here, luck must be on my side today” she added before I could even say anything. Too desperate, as usual. “Hello Camila. It has been a while, hasn't it?” I greeted her, forcing myself to be a little more polite. “Indeed. It's been almost a year since we parted ways after our date and you never called. I sent you tons of messages and you didn't respond, what happened?” she asked, her mouth in a whiny pout. What happened was that I was too disgusted to call and I ignored your message on purpose to avoid you. Of course I didn't say that, I lied instead, “Oh, I lost my phone and contacts. And with business, I have been too occupied” She eyed me for a few seconds before grinning and taking a seat at my table uninvited. “Well, better late than never, let's exchange contacts and maybe continue from where we left off” she smirked and passed me her phone. I resisted the urge to say “I'd rather not” instead I nodded reluctantly and took her phone to put in one of my phone numbers. She was lucky that she was the only daughter of the Alves conglomerate that I partnered with, else I wouldn't care to be polite. Once we had exchanged numbers, the waitress had returned with my meal; it was steak and a glass of wine. “Since I am here, how about I eat with you, we could catch up” Camila chipped in and turned to the waitress, “Get me what he's having” she ordered. To think I was coming out for fresh air and now this. Didn't she have anywhere to be? I smiled forcefully and focused on my food instead, the faster I finished this the faster I got to leave. Her order was brought to the table and she dived in while trying to make small talk with me to which I was greatly displeased. “I heard of your contract marriage from my father. It will be over soon right?” she asked. I frowned, only both families involved knew about it so how did she know? “How did he know that?” I asked. “You know our fathers are friends, yours told him when my father proposed we get married” she answered, pushing her blonde hair behind her ear and blushing sheepishly. If she was going for a cute look then that was definitely not it. My frown deepened. My father wasn't supposed to do that and another marriage proposal? You've got to be kidding me! I was thinking of speaking with my Dad when my phone pinged. It wasn't my business phone, it was from a burner one that I usually use for personal pleasures. A message had come in, one that had me pleasantly surprised. I might have just gotten the perfect solution to ease my mind. A sinful one at that…Aurelia’s POVMy phone buzzed barely ten seconds after I sent the message. My heart skipped a beat as I stared at the screen like it had personally offended me.Why was his reply that fast? Was he fervently waiting for me to send a message? My heart thudded against my ribs as I opened it.It read:Masked Man: Yes, I am available. That was it? He didn't use any emoji or initiate any small talk since I literally just texted him for the first time. It was just three words.I frowned, I found it a little cold. How did he even know who was texting or was he that eager to meet up again?Heat crept up my neck as flashbacks of our last time together resurfaced in my mind and I adjusted on my bed restlessly.“It was much better than fantasizing about that asshole” I consoled myself and swallowed before typing carefully.Me: Not tonight though, I'm busy.No I wasn't, in fact I had just quit the job I started today. But I didn't want to come across as a desperate and cheap whore, nor did I want
Aurelia’s POVI walked out of that office like I had just won a war. And oh I know it was.My heels hit the marble floor with purpose and my spine was straight. My chin was high even though my heart was pounding, but I told myself it was adrenaline, not humiliation.I did it.I talked back to Alfred Vicker. For five full minutes, I felt invincible. Then reality slapped me harder than he did.I was jobless. The elevator doors closed and my reflection stared back at me. My cheek was still faintly pink. My lips were still swollen from biting back tears. My hands trembled slightly as the weight of what I had done began to sink in.Marietta’s school billsDad’s collapsing business.Mom’s forced smile at dinner every night. What have you done, Relia?By the time I got outside, my chest felt tight. I pulled out my phone and did the one thing I had promised myself I wouldn’t do again.I called Jonathan, hoping he would pick up because I really needed him.It rang once then straight to voicema

Aurelia's POV“Mr Alfred needs you in his office… goodluck” The manager said to me as she came out of his office. She smiled and gave me an encouraging thumbs up and I could only respond with a broken smile.I was shaking from both anger and frustration. Angry that that asshole turned out to be my boss and frustrated that I had worked so hard to get this job, today was supposed to be a happy day until he showed up. He was like a fly to a corpse, taunting my existence everywhere I went, both physically and mentally. Funny how just a few weeks ago I wasn't aware of his existence but now that I was, he was everywhere.I got up from my seat and walked to his office with my mind made up. This wasn't going to work…I knocked and walked in, “You sent for me Mr. Alfred”Alfred raised his head from his laptop and looked at me with amusement in his eyes, “What’s your name?”“Aurelia” I replied curtly. His piercing gaze made me feel a little uncomfortable, it was like he could see through me, se
Aurelia's POVIt has been two weeks of torture. I was frustrated with how instead of worrying about my fiance who was still reachable, I was running hot for a stranger. That intimate night tormented me despite my hatred for Alfred, I found myself craving his touch every night and dreaming about him doing nasty things to me. How could he have such an effect on me? It was only one night! This was all new to me… the sexual lust and sinful urges. No man had made me feel this way, not even Fred.Sylvia, my best friend, had suggested I try sex again but with another man, “To get over one man you have to be on top of another” she had told me in a casual how-do-you-not-know-this tone. I didn't quite agree with her at first until I couldn't stop touching myself to the thoughts of him. I resolved to indeed try it again with someone else, I wanted to be sure there was nothing special about it and he was no different. Sylvia was able to secure a spot at club Zero through connections because I
Alfred's POVI was angry. Angry that despite my fame and power, I was still pulled into some shitty marriage contract by my family. I couldn't get out of it but I made sure to ignore it for years, never bothered to even see who my supposed bride was because it didn't change a thing and I didn't care. I can't wait for the three months left to be over, then I wouldn't have to entertain those poor people again. I returned to my room to join Kate, my woman for the night. When I left to answer my ‘visitor’, she was still fast asleep. We had gone at it all night long even I was surprised, it was only supposed to be a one time thing. At least that was what I paid for. But when I entered the room, she was nowhere to be found. I checked the bathroom and she wasn't there either. She was gone and I couldn't help but wonder why she left so secretly… I didn't want her to leave just yet. This Kate girl, there was something different about her. I may have been high on drugs last night but I could
