Family Ties

"And since when do you eat meat?"

My eyes snapped back to the half-eaten steak in my bare hand. I wasn't only a vegan, I despised the umami sensation on my tongue. It always made me scrunch up.

"Oh." I couldn't muster anything more than that.

Then suddenly as if my taste buds discovered the flavor bouts that were dispersed in my mouth, I felt a tingling sensation. A vomit reflex made me gag. I ran up to the sink and rinsed my mouth furiously.

The stench and overwhelming unsavory taste made me want to puke but all my attempts at it only left me heaving. When I came to my wet hair was dripping damp, while a group of people watched me in horror.

The humiliation hit me like a canon ball, I recoiled trying to sway away their disgusting gazes. I felt like a freak.

Though maybe that's what I'm reduced to.

With my blind craving, I didn't even recognize what I was eating, much less how vulgarly I did it. My stomach just needed something to fill it. I closed my eyes wiping a hand on my face
