Jasmine, knowing fully well what awaits her within those walls walked with her head held high. She had her daughter in her arms as she walked into the mansion. Fabian was there, standing with his back to the door that welcomes you to the interior.

Madam Clautra rushed to take Aria from Jasmine. It was as though the woman already knew what would happen.

She left with Aria in her arms leaving Jasmine and Fabian alone in the foyer.

“You are back home early”. Jasmine said coolly despite the intense atmosphere.

“Where the hell are you coming from?” Fabian asked Jasmine not replying to what she had initially said.

“An apartment that’s like a pen compared to your mansion; there was love where I went”. Jasmine said calmly.

Fabian scowled at her. Then with a deep darken voice, he ordered her to follow him. She scoffed, but she followed him as he led her to his study.

Jasmine wondered why he was leading her to a place where he forbids her from going. He would never want her there. But she entered the study with him anyway, without question.

Fabian asked Jasmine to sit down after they got in. Jasmine did as instructed. She sat with her fingers crossed and her eyes unsteady. She was beginning to feel uneasy. Something told her things weren’t right.

Jasmine did not know Fabian to be yet to lay his fingers on her when she did something this much against his will.

“You said you found love somewhere outside this house?” Fabian asked Jasmine. Jasmine was a little bit confused. She wondered if that was why he asked her to follow him to his study.

But all the same, Jasmine acknowledged what she had said to him when they were at the foyer. It surprised her that Fabian smirked and did not show that he was angry. Perhaps he was, but he was not showing it. So she thought.

“Then is not the universe working well in my favour?” Fabian said sounding quite excited but in a devilish way. He blinked his eyes and leaned on the table making sure he was facing Jasmine.

“How would you like yourself not being a part of this family anymore? At least you have found love outside”. Fabian stated after hitting Jasmine with the question that sounded like she was going to get her freedom from an ugly marriage.

But then, she didn’t get to choose an answer yet. She was scared. She had no clue what her husband was actually driving at. Perhaps he was trying to see reasons to punish her.

“Fabian, I was only at Diana’s place, my friend”. Jasmine said. She had to say the right things before things get out of hand. Even though she wanted to get out of her marriage, she would not want her name to be tainted with a bad rumour.

While Jasmine was expecting Fabian’s next reaction, she never expected the mean laugh that came out of Fabian. It was as though he had a plan. A plan she was yet to know about.

“I did not say anything funny, why are you laughing?” Jasmine asked.

“I have to divorce you to be able marry Katherine but you seem to be without flaws according to societal standard. Do something wrong Jasmine”. Fabian said. He looked casual while saying it. But his eyes had an evil glint to it.

Jasmine smirked. Her eyes seem to be welling up with tears. And then she thought, “this was why he did not act like the boxer in a ring this time”.

“You want to divorce me? That’s your problem. You can go ahead and bring it on. If you feel it is beyond you, I’ll take the lead and give you the divorce papers. But you won’t get what you want, keeping your fake image”. Jasmine said.

She was no longer showing her fears. And even her tears, were well kept out. At this point, Jasmine thought anything that would happen was nothing to make her panic. She would rather die than do something she hates.

And Fabian was not happy, especially when she said she would give him the divorce papers. He felt threatened. This made him go mad and he pushed Jasmine to the wall with his hand firmly holding her throat.

Jasmine did not realise when Fabian took hold of her, but when she realised what was happening, her back had already hit the wall. She thought she was standing up to leave, she was not expecting this.

Still, Jasmine tried her best to put on an unburdened face. She never tried to plead. Her eyes, though watered, had no plea in them.

“You dare not Jasmine. I’d be the one to decide on what terms I divorce you”. He said to her.

Jasmine asked Fabian why he was actually doing that to her when he finally let go of her throat. She was trying to catch her breath but she still managed those words out of her mouth.

He told her he had no reason to explain anything to her. According to him, she had no right to know what was going through his head. And with this, he pushed her out of his study.

Jasmine stood there staring at the door that has been shut against her. One would think she could see through the door. But that was not the case.

“You are going to divorce me because of your mistress and you think I have no right knowing what you are thinking. Because I did not bare you a male child? Or is it because you never loved me?” Jasmine said. But she was only talking to herself because her voice was barely above a whisper. Fabian could not have been able to hear her either.

“At least it is a good thing I’d leave. But I am going to take my daughter with me”. Jasmine said as she walked away towards the direction of their shared room.

“It’s good to have you around Aria. I must say I have come to miss you a lot after the last misunderstanding we had. I never expected you would talk to me back at your place,” Theresa said. She was standing by the door of Aria’s room. Although she had helped Aria carry her bag to the car before they left the mansion to the family house, she and Aria were yet to speak to each other. The only time Aria spoke with her was when she asked her to help carry her bag. “Get out! I do not wish to be disturbed right now,” Aria said. She did not even bother to look Theresa’s way. “Come on Aria! Why are you holding grudges against me just because I told you that you were keeping low lives as friends and that your boyfriend Eran was way too below your class,” Theresa questioned. She did not look like she was ready to leave Aria alone. Aria stood up from the bed on which she was lying. She walked towards the door and pushed Theresa out. Then she shut it. She went back to the bed but not without

Fabian shook his head as if in regret. Then he snatched his bag from Katherine’s hold and walked towards the door. But Katherine hurried her feet towards the door and stood in front of him. “Wake up Fabian! Someone is trying to raise a feud between us so that they can get what they want. Maybe not Aria as I had suspected, but it could be just anyone”. Katherine said while looking at Fabian pleadingly. Her eyes were moist and ready to let down the tears. If she was not a good actress, then she would not have made it this far with Fabian. “And who would want to do that?” Fabian asked with one eyebrow raised. “I don’t know! Aren’t supposed to work together in understanding for us to be able to find that out?” Katherine said suggestively. Fabian nods his head in agreement. He dropped his bag and then walked down to the bed. He laid there as he watched the ceiling. Katherine approached her husband, she lied right next to him, then she placed the palm of her hand on his chest. She

Aria watched as her grandmother whom she has liked no lesser than her father, stood there quarreling her father. She hated it, the noise they were making. She could never get used to it. For as far as she can remember, Her father and his mother don’t get along. She rolled her eyes and left the foyer, but soon returned with a bag in hand. “I’ll go with her,” Aria said as she nudged for Theresa to come help her with her bag. “Esa,” she muttered. Theresa smiled and walked towards Aria. She helped the bag out of her hand and they both walked out of the house. Mrs. Hart eyed Fabian disapprovingly, shook her head and walked away. Meanwhile, Fabian clutched his hands allowing them to hug his sides. He gritted his teeth as there was nothing else he could do. It was Aria herself who has chosen to go with his mother. He did not want his mother to take her. He was tired of her controlling attitude. “You always let your mother win,”. Katherine said while walking down the stairs. She

  • When Tragedy Strikes    A Stranger To Her

…………………….The following morning, Jasmine woke up to see herself in an unfamiliar room. She wondered how she got there. Then she heard the sound of water. It was probably someone bathing. She placed her hands on her head in a bid to combat the headache that was threatening to pull out her skull from her scalp. Then she stood up from the bed wanting to leave the place. It had not occurred to her that she was barely clothed with just lingerie, one she was not wearing. But then Jack came out of the bathroom and he was a stranger to her. She asked him what he was doing in the same room with her and who exactly he was. What happened to her the previous night was yet to come to her. Jack asked her if she did not remember the night they shared. Jasmine was confused for a while. She had no memory of him, not to talk of sharing a night with him. Then she remembered the last place she was before she could no longer remember anything. It was at the rooftop of the building where they celebrated
