Diana told Jasmine she could only make her sandwich at the moment. Jasmine didn’t mind. All she cared for was getting something into her stomach. So Diana did make her sandwich which she ate. And then the two of them sat down to discuss Jasmine’s life.
Diana asked Jasmine to file for a divorce since Fabian has gone ahead to impregnate his mistress while still not treating her well.“If that was possible, I would have done that a long time ago. I’m literally Fabian’s property. I don’t think I can leave”. Jasmine interrupted when Diana said she knows a divorce lawyer.“But you clearly said you want to leave him, didn’t you?” Diana sounded shocked.Jasmine sighed heavily. She told Diana she was only saying things she could not do.“So what if he helped your family get out of debt? Is five years of slavery not enough for him? Do you have to stay there for a lifetime? Hasn’t he taken over your family’s business for compensation?” Diana said. She was angry.Diana told Jasmine that Fabian already got more than he deserved because her family was no longer benefiting from the business and that everything was already Fabian’s.“And that’s the point Diana! That’s the point! If I file for a divorce, I ain’t getting nothing out of that marriage. I’m just going to look for a way to get his mistress to abort the child”. Jasmine said looking weary.Diana told Jasmine she would not support her if she did such a thing. According to Diana, it was Fabian who was at fault, and he was the only one Jasmine should take action against.“You got me there all righteous priestess”. Jasmine said mockingly. Diana just shook her head. These talks wasn’t getting them anywhere. Jasmine will only go back to Fabian and continue with her misery just where it left her.“Aria is growing up really fast! Have you guys considered putting her in a boarding school”. Diana said trying to change the topic. Jasmine only shrugged and put the last chunk of sandwich into her mouth.Seeing that her friend was beginning to act nonchalant, Diana decided to leave her alone. She told Jasmine she was going to check on the kids and see if they needed anything. Jasmine was indifferent.Diana didn’t mind. She left Jasmine alone in the living room and went to Kelvin’s room where he was playing with Aria.“Hey my babies!” Diana said with a tone of excitement when she got inside the little boy’s room.“Mom go away! You are interrupting”. Kelvin said to his mom. Diana raised her brows. Her lips contoured upwards as well.“Go away! I’m teaching Aria how to be a princess”. Kelvin said. Diana smiled.“I just wanted to know if the princess and her teacher would be needing cookies or chocolate?” Diana said. She acted as though she was really going to leave them without waiting for their reply. But her feet were slow. She at least wanted to know if they needed something.“I want chocolate”. Aria’s tiny voice escaped her lips.“And cookies!” Kelvin added. He was quite bossy. Diana turned to look at them with a smile on her face. She told them she would be right back.“Kelvin?” Aria called questioningly. Kelvin asked her if there was a problem. She shook her head in the negative.“But…..” She said. Kelvin asked her what.“Why did you tell your mommy you were teaching me to be a princess when we are playing mafia?” Aria looked confused.Kelvin answered her by saying a girl mafia is a princess. Aria smiled acknowledging what Kelvin has just said to her. She admired Kelvin a lot. To her, he was her favourite teacher. Nobody teaches her like Kelvin.Soon Diana returned with cookies and chocolates for the the kids. Kelvin told Aria to take only one chocolate bar and focus more on the cookies. He told her eating too many chocolates will make her look ugly. And when she asked him what it meant by being ugly, he told her that ugly people can never be a princess. So Aria listened to him because she wanted to be a princess.Meanwhile, Jasmine who was a bit curious, especially because of her daughter, asked Diana how the kids were doing when she returned to the living room after dropping the cookies and chocolates with them.“They are good! Kelvin’s teaching Aria how to be a princess”. Diana said. Jasmine smiled. She told Diana that Kelvin was smart, and that's what made Aria admire him.“They are like siblings tied to each other”. Jasmine said. Diana agreed to this statement. The two kids were always close and acted more like siblings. Both friends chatted for a while only to realise they have been talking for a longer period than they had imagined.“I will be going back now with Aria”. Jasmine said when she checked the time and realised that it was already close to the time her husband returned home from work.Aria didn’t want to leave because she felt she was going back to a cage where the only person she get to speak with is her nanny and mother who were both adults that cannot speak a child’s language.“I want to stay with Kelvin!” Aria cried but Jasmine did not mind. She carried the little girl and walked away. But before they got past the door, Kelvin told Aria that princesses do not cry. So Aria had to force stop herself from crying. Jasmine told her they would come again as well. So, Aria decided to hold onto her mother’s words.Jasmine took a cab back to the mansion. On getting there, Jasmine discovered that her husband was already home. Fear gripped her. Fabian got home before her, that means she has just subject herself to torture. Fabian was definitely going to torture her for leaving the house. Worst was that she carried Aria with her. Fabian was against his little princess who he cared less about leaving his castle.Jasmine, knowing fully well what awaits her within those walls walked with her head held high. She had her daughter in her arms as she walked into the mansion. Fabian was there, standing with his back to the door that welcomes you to the interior. Madam Clautra rushed to take Aria from Jasmine. It was as though the woman already knew what would happen. She left with Aria in her arms leaving Jasmine and Fabian alone in the foyer. “You are back home early”. Jasmine said coolly despite the intense atmosphere. “Where the hell are you coming from?” Fabian asked Jasmine not replying to what she had initially said. “An apartment that’s like a pen compared to your mansion; there was love where I went”. Jasmine said calmly. Fabian scowled at her. Then with a deep darken voice, he ordered her to follow him. She scoffed, but she followed him as he led her to his study. Jasmine wondered why he was leading her to a place where he forbids her from going. He would never want her there. But sh
Two Weeks LaterJasmine woke up with a strong headache. She could barely lift her head off the bed, so she just stayed down for a while. She felt sore as well and wondered if she was falling sick.“I hope I’m not falling sick right now? I do not want to be a burden to anyone”. Jasmine said. She stayed relaxed for a while, then proceeded to leave the bed. She felt quite dizzy. Then she realised she was in a different place. It does not look like her home. She rushed towards the door wanting to look outside. Perhaps they changed the decor, that was what she thought. But she opened the door to find out that the hall was different and there seemed to be too many rooms along the hallway. She rushed back inside to find a man that was not there when she woke up. He had a towel loosely wrapped below his waistline, giving off a bit of his downside. “Who are you? And what are you doing here? I mean why am I here?” Jasmine asked all at once. The man wore a smirk. He took a few strides towar
She walked out of the bathroom without knowing if she was courageous enough to face her cheating husband who has succeeded in tainting her. But it never occurred to her that she would be unphased by the scene before her eyes. They didn’t change position. They were still on the bed, with Katherine’s head rested on Fabian’s chest. And Jasmine didn’t know where the laugh came from. Except for the fact that she was the one laughing, she had no clue what part of her was doing that. She walked into her dressing room where she looked for what to wear in her closet. Then she undressed herself, her eyes spotting the hickeys she was covered in from the mirror. Jasmine felt disgusted by what she was seeing on herself, but there was nothing she could do about it. She decided to act like she was not bothered by the hickeys. She dropped the jet black jumpsuit she has taken from the closet on the chair sitting in front of the mirror. All she needed was in that dressing room. She contemplated tak
Just as Fabian had said, by noon it had circulated all over the internet. The press had already taken it up, that the wife of Billionaire, Fabian Hart was a whore. Her sex tape was all over the internet. Reporters have surrounded the Harts company. And there were some who already went to the mansion. Fabian was in his office when his mother called. “Sir! You have a call”. His secretary, “Viose” said. Fabian at first did not want to answer his phone until the secretary told him it was from his mother, Mrs. Hart. Fabian took the phone, the call had already been disconnected, so he called his mother back. It was as though the woman was expecting his call, she did not wait for her phone to ring twice before answering it. “What is this that I hear Fabian? I thought you had control of that god forsaken woman you call your wife?” Mrs. Hart yelled at her son over the phone. Fabian could taste the disappointment of his mother in his own mouth. It tasted bitter, and he liked it. Even thou
“Children practice exactly what they see, they say. What example would Jasmine be teaching this poor thing now?” Katherine’s voice filled the almost empty hall. She was now in the foyer. It seems she had witnessed everything. She got to Aria before Clautra could. She leaned in closer to the little girl and whispered into her ears,“Your mother is being atrocious. She is evil. And she doesn’t mind doing it in front of you knowing fully well you might take her footsteps”. Katherine said to the 4 year old who just looked into space, probably trying to process what Katherine had just said. But then, confusion creeps into her face as she seemed unsure what to make of Katherine’s words. Katherine dragged the little girl outside with her. Clautra tried to stop her, more like she wanted to. But she was fearful of what Katherine could do to her. She hates Katherine. The woman was never up to no good. And if anyone questions her, she paint them black before Fabian’s eyes. ************Jasmine
It happened five years ago. The Harts and the Rodds were supposed to form a merger. Their two company would work side by side and then become one of the strongest in the country Z. But this alliance could only be formed if the two families were to marry. So the Rodds gave their daughter to the Harts. Fabian was supposed to marry Marrita Rodd. But Marrita had a fatal accident and died in the car crash. But it was a suicide only Jasmine knew of. Marrita felt like her family was selling her off to a man for wealth. The Rodd’s family business was failing. And they had nothing to fall back to. If they must stand back up, they had to fake success and merge with a company. The only way to achieve that was by giving one of their daughters out into marriage. Marrita was the first daughter. She was the smartest as her parents would say. And she was the most favoured by the family. Yet she refused to do their bidding. When they told her she was getting married to Fabian Hart, she only nodde
Jasmine watched as Mrs. Hart’s car drove into the compound and parked in front of the mansion. The reporters were already trolling out of the compound one after the other. They met her by the gate. Mrs. Hart did not seem to come out of her car until all the reporters were gone from the compound. One of the reporters stopped to ask Jasmine a few question, but got attacked by Jasmine instead. Jasmine needed to pass out her frustration somewhere, and this reporter seemed to have asked just the right question to trigger Jasmine and make her go wild. “How many men have you slept with? Is your husband the actual father of your daughter?” The reporter asked Jasmine. And this got her the right reason to attack. It was the right reason for her, but not to those who turned on their camera on her to record her harassing a poor reporter as people had put it. They never cared to know what the reporter did. Jasmine was fined for assault and was detained for a while. When she was released on bai
Sixteen Years Later The hall was filled with people, people of high class, sophisticated bourgeoisies. Everyone wore a happy face now and then, a little smile to greet the person next to them. Even if it wearies them, they had to keep that attitude so they don’t look odd. By the telling of their clothes, you would know they are people who would never come across on the streets. Even the smell of them screamed affluence. And if you look closely, you could tell that there were classes higher than some. You could see the expression on everybody’s face. You could tell when someone is being looked up to and taken in awe. And you can tell when another person is being looked down on. That’s the difference, the difference in class. “I have been searching with my eyes and I am yet to find my daughter”. Fabian said. He was hugging the hand of a woman. And she was clinging to him as well. Katherine, once his mistress, now his wife. She has been by his side as his wife for sixteen years. They
