Chapter 3: Endurance Is A Game

last update Last Updated: 2025-06-05 17:10:40

Wisdom endured the expensive goods on 7/11. She only took the most important and needed right away stuff in order to save a few cash.

It was already an hour ago since the drama of the century happened—she shamed Richard and Francine in front of hundreds of judging eyes. Her heart was still heavily pounding inside her chest. She could hear the loud beats of her pumping heart, to be honest.

Wisdom took one last glance to her basket. “This will do for a week, I guess.”

She then decided to go to the cashier. To her surprise, the goods she bought were 95$. She only had 50$ left in her wallet.

“I’ll pay for it.” A familiar voice from behind spoke. From the man’s scent, Wisdom already knew who it was.

“Terry Kale!” She exclaimed the name of her high school crush.

“Hello, Wisdom!” Terry said as he handed a 100$ to the cashier with his eyes still on Wisdom’s.

“You’ve grown more beautiful as far as I can remember.”

Wisdom should’ve put makeup on. Her face was obviously stained with red due to that statement from her former crush. Even the cashier noticed that and smiled at her secretly.

She cleared her throat before speaking. “You flatter me, Terry. I mean, you are always hard to please way back then…”

“Past is past, Wisdom. Besides, I heard you just got divorced with your husband a few weeks ago.” He said as he received the change from the 100$. It was his turn this time to check out the goods he bought: a hotdog sandwich and a Slurpee.

Wisdom raised her brows. Who could’ve told him that when he’s studying in Paris?

“Who told you?” She asked without a hint of suspicion.

“Francine Cabello. You know, your best friend since high school, remember?”

Of course she remembers. Even a syllable of her full name was forever marked in her memory archive. That bitch who called herself a best friend was just insulting to the honourable title of being a best friend. If only she could turn back the sands of time and take back that title from that snake would be very much satisfying for Wisdom. But reality was always bitter; what’s done is done. What has occurred is already irrevocable.

“Are you okay?” He asked as he gestured that they sat by the chairs in the convenience store.

Wisdom nodded. “Yes, I’m fine.”

“Great! Would you like a coffee, tea…or me?”

She jerked her head towards him in a blink of an eye. She was wholly flabbergasted by that query, even if it is just a joke for him.

“I’m kidding, Wisdom!” Of course he is.

“I’m fine, Terry.” That was a white lie. Wisdom was used to pretending to be fine ever since she’s a lass. She never wanted other people to be involved in her personal dilemma.

“I see,” Terry countered as he took a bite from his hotdog sandwich.

Wisdom’s phone rings. She looked outside through the glass; it was already twilight. She then picked up her phone and answered it.

“Hello?”

“Come to the office tomorrow…at six a.m.”

It was her boss, Gerry Grace. He told her to come to the office on Saturday and at six in the morning—she’s still snoring at that hour to be frank.

“Sure!” She made it look like she was excited. Well, she was Gerry’s pet anyway—his mistress. Richard had long been drilling different women. Apparently, this had been the reason that pushed her to agree as Gerry’s woman.

It was her form of revenge to her husband at that time. Usually, he asked her to come to the office on weekends either to hand her a gift or that he needs her “physical services”—or probably both. Then, he will be taking her to a nearby hotel’s restaurant. After which they’ll continue their fucking in one of the hotel’s restrooms. What an outstanding place to feast on your mistress…

Wisdom put the phone down and peered at Terry who was enjoying his Slurpee.

He caught her staring at him. “What?”

“Nothing.” That was a lie from her again.

To be frank, because of Richard’s constant cheating, she had begun to learn the ways of a mistress. Her constant cravings for Gerry had made her a bit crazy on the inside; she ended up pleasuring herself at night instead.

And Wisdom somehow found another prey on the very walls of this convenience store. She found a new friend-with-benefits as she gazed at Terry who was finishing his hotdog sandwich and Slurpee.

Present...Wisdom looked at herself in the vanity mirror. Her hair was wet, so was her whole body. She then immediately picked up the phone when it rang once.“Wisdom?” said the man from the other line.“Te-Terry?” Wisdom’s voice was hoarse as she uttered the name of the man she once bedded a few days ago.“I’m at a hotel near the airport by now…”Wisdom waited for Terry to finish.“I am flying to Paris in five hours. Perhaps you—”“You want to see me?” She’s the one who finished what he’s going to say.“Yes.” His voice was cold and …sad.Wisdom could certainly tell that Terry’s voice was sorrowful; as if he was beseeching him to enter her one last time before he permanently departs from the country. But Wisdom couldn’t tell if it was love or crush or infatuation she wa

Denver blinked once, then twice. He’s beginning to see things again. It was probably because of the margarita cocktail that he had consumed earlier.Henry patted him from behind; looking wholly confused. “Hey buddy! Why are you inside the prostitutes’ private room?”Denver blinked again. It was a sort of realization. His cheeks stained red, probably because of the drink, the shame, and the embarrassment…or all of the above.“Come here, Denver! This is a girls’ room!” Henry yelled.Denver then went with Henry, like a child following his father after being swept away in the middle of nowhere. He then saw the woman earlier sitting beside a handsome forty-year-old man in tuxedo, facing the stage to where a naked lovely lady dancing in a pole. Her clothes are vibrant and fluffy, much like her bouncing breasts and hairy genital.“You’re probably imagining things again, pal!” Henry exclaimed. He was right, very right.Denver looked at the woman again. Damn, she definitely looked like Wisdom.

Denver was inside his walk-in closet when he suddenly remembered that kiss—the kiss he had with the sexy Wisdom. Well, her mother had a good taste after all; has a good taste in judging women by just one look—on how a woman tastes and a woman’s impact towards him.He touched his soft lips, as if reminiscing that so-called passionate kiss. Well, he can’t wait to be drowned in those lips once more. To taste that soft, irresistible lips again like he was having a luxury buffet.“Hey, Denver! What took you so long to change?!” Henry demanded while loudly pounding at his door.Denver was startled, prompting him to regain his focus on changing clothes. He then grabbed a turtle-necked black shirt and blue jeans.“Just a minute. Quite confused on what to wear!”Outside Denver’s walk-in closet, Henry frowned and yelled…again.“You’re becoming like a woman, eh! Always took an hour to change

“Well, well, well. The great Mister Denver Giordano had managed to unleash a pool of release just by the sight of my beautiful naked painting!”Henry Harker’s voice startled Denver. His bestfriend was already inside his penthouse unbeknownst to him.“How did you—” He shook his head in dismay. Denver almost forgot that Henry’s the youngest son of this condominium’s owner.‘Surely, this kid is very much lucky that I still have self-control within me,’ he thought while pretending he wasn’t bothered.“Why didn’t you come to my exhibit earlier, Dennie?” A hint of slight irritation was heard on Henry’s voice. Denver felt like being thrown in the pit of a volcano due to that question.“I was busy.”“Busy with what?”“With who is the right question, Henry.”Henry’s face brightened as if he already knew the cause of his apparent busy-ness.“I see. What’s her name?”Denver was astonished. “I didn’t say it was a girl.”“I know you, Denver. You’re only very ‘busy’ if it involves with a girl, a wo

Denver chuckled in a masculine manner. Wisdom should check if her underwear is still intact or has it already plummeted on the floor due to Denver’s sensual and sexy laugh. Indeed, this handsome creature is an “underwear dropper” as to what Wisdom would you usually call these kinds of men.‘Focus, Wisdom!’ She scolded herself for thinking such carnal thoughts towards the man that she barely knew. The man who kissed her just weeks after divorcing her cheating husband.“What was the contract again?” That’s a good move for Wisdom; changing the topic from the pleasure side to the business side is wholly unbelievable for her to do. After all, never mix business with pleasure as they say. But, what if the business is all about pleasure itself? A wife is an all-in-one kit for a billionaire. They can be a ‘secretary’, a personal assistant, a cook, a ‘housekeeper’, and a bed servant. And many more. She watched Denver gulp the half of brandy in just a heartbeat. If only a smile could kill, the smile of Denver Giordano had long sent Wisdom Weisz dropping on the lustrous floor. His smile was making her scream on the inside as if she just saw her favorite k-pop idol smiling on her very side.Denver cleared his throat before speaking. “Indeed she is. In fact, we’ll be wed a month from now.”‘A Month!!!’ Wisdom was shrieking again, on the walls of her own mind and consciousness. She would have disagreed and countered Denver if not for the ridiculous surprised faces of Francine and Richard. Both are gaping as if they never expected that a delicate dove like Wisdom Weisz couldn’t marry the richest man in town. After all, luck is unpredictable; so is destiny itself. She just plastered a sweet fiancée-ish smile on her beautiful face. “Shall we go into the penthouse now, honey?”Well, at least Wisdom has a cute and innocent-sounding voice as she faced Denver and spoke those sweet words as if she just gobbled an entire bag of white sugar.
