Chapter 1

Penulis: Wilder Blaze
“Mr. Ford, the crash site is still dangerous. You can’t go in right now.”

“We’ve already contacted the rescue team. The ambulance will be here any minute.”

“Mr. Ford…”

“Get out of my way! If anything happens to her because you're wasting my time, I’ll make you all pay for it!”

Amid the wave of chaotic noise in her ears, that furious shout pulled Stella Spencer out of the darkness of unconsciousness after the crash.

She struggled to look toward the sound and saw a familiar, tall figure nearby. He was rushing toward her like a savior.

Tears of relief filled Stella’s eyes.

After the accident, she had been trapped in the overturned car for what felt like an eternity.

She truly thought Hunter Ford wasn’t coming.

Before the accident, they had been in the middle of a massive fight. The night before, they had agreed to meet at the office, but Hunter had stood her up after a morning phone call. He had ignored all her follow-up calls. When the crash happened, she used the last of her battery to send her location to his secretary.

She had thought Hunter would ignore her message again, just like he always had.

She never expected this.

“Baby… there’s hope… Daddy is here…”

Stella looked at the blood still flowing beneath her and clung to that last shred of hope.

Ignoring the dizziness and nausea surging through her, she tried to call out Hunter’s name. But the moment she opened her mouth, she realized her throat was so hoarse that no sound came out.

It did not matter. Hunter had already found her. She forced herself to lift her weak arm, trying to wave at him.

The next second, Hunter ran straight past her without stopping.

Stella froze.

She thought he must have mistaken her for someone else.

She was not driving a car from the Ford family estate today. That car had been taken by Hunter’s younger sister that morning. The car she was in now was a gift from her mom, one she rarely drove. It was normal that Hunter did not recognize it.

Stella had no time to think further. Summoning what little strength she had left, she tried to call his name.

But the heavy blood loss had already drained her. Her voice was as faint as a whisper.

Hunter did not hear her. He walked farther and farther away until he stopped in front of the white car that had caused the accident.

Before Stella could process what was happening, Hunter pulled open the car door and gathered a trembling woman into his arms.

The woman wore a long coat. She was slim, elegant, and looked utterly fragile.

When Stella saw her face, her blood turned cold.

It was Hunter’s first love, Gwen York.

The realization struck her. Earlier, that car had been cutting lanes recklessly, then came after her with no warning, chasing her down like a maniac.

Now it rested quietly by the roadside, as if innocent and hurt, while its owner was wrapped in Hunter’s embrace.

Stella didn't have the energy to wonder why Gwen was back in the country or why she had happened to crash into her specifically. She only cared about saving her baby.

“Mr. Ford, there’s someone else in that other car!”

As Stella struggled to tap on the window, one of Hunter’s bodyguards spotted movement inside her wreck. The car looked vaguely familiar, and he couldn't help but shout out.

Hunter glanced over.

Inside the car, the woman’s face was covered in blood, and fresh red blood continued to pour from her body. She looked battered and miserable, yet beneath the blood, her features were still unmistakably delicate.

She seemed somewhat familiar.

Hunter hesitated for a split second, but then Gwen let out a soft, pained moan in his arms.

“Gwen is injured. Clear a path to the hospital immediately.”

Hunter did not spare another thought for anything else.

“But Mr. Ford—”

Before the bodyguard could finish, Hunter’s icy gaze cut him off. The words died in his throat. “Yes, sir.”

Stella watched helplessly as Hunter’s eyes paused on her for just a single moment before he picked Gwen up and strode back to the car.

“Hunter, save me! Save our baby…”

Stella tried to cry out, but the moment she opened her mouth, a mouthful of blood choked her voice.

No one paid her any attention anymore.

Hunter’s car sped away with Gwen inside.

Stella stared at the car as it disappeared into the distance. Her gaze unfocused for a split second. Then, in the next moment, a tearing, unbearable pain swept through her like a flood.

She could not hold on any longer.

Darkness closed in, and she lost consciousness once again.

  • You Saved Her and Let Our Son Die. Don’t Start Crying Now   Chapter 30

Riley deliberately ignored Stella, chatting happily with Gwen to make her feel left out. She fully expected Stella to approach her with a gift, just like she always did. Riley had already planned to toss the gift aside the moment she received it, using the gesture to show Gwen exactly how much she disliked Stella. However, several minutes passed, and Stella hadn't moved.Riley finally glanced sideways, only to see Stella sit down calmly on a nearby sofa, looking completely unbothered. That was when Riley noticed something else. Stella was holding only a single gift bag. It clearly didn’t look like it was meant for her.Riley was genuinely puzzled. “Is the gift so small she put it in her pocket?” she wondered. “No, her dress today doesn't have pockets.”Unable to hold back any longer, Riley asked bluntly, “Stella, where’s my gift?”Stella had not expected the question. She paused, then answered honestly, “I didn’t prepare one.”“You didn’t prepare one?”Riley’s temper flared i

In truth, Stella had already grown used to it.Riley and Hunter were very close as siblings. Since Hunter despised her, Riley often treated her with biting sarcasm. Riley frequently mocked her, saying she wasn’t good enough for Hunter and that she was nothing more than a third wheel coming between him and Gwen.At first, Stella actually cared. In an attempt to get on Riley’s good side, she went out of her way to research Riley’s hobbies, buy her gifts, and even travel abroad to collect limited-edition merchandise and autographs that Riley liked.Riley would accept them, but she was never grateful. Instead, she would give a cold laugh and say, “Don’t think I don’t know what you're up to. Don’t think you can buy me off like this. No matter how hard you try to please me, you’re still just the intruder between my brother and Gwen. I will never take your side.”These words used to hurt Stella deeply. But over time, she gradually learned to let it go. Hearing Riley say these things now d

Once she finished washing up, she found herself with plenty of time to spare.Suddenly having nothing to do felt strange. She allowed herself the luxury of simply staring into space for a while before lying down. Perhaps too much had happened over the past two days. The moment Stella closed her eyes, she fell asleep. When she woke again, it was already noon the next day.Still groggy, Stella got out of bed. The moment she stood up, a sharp pain shot through her foot. Only then did she notice that the little toe she had accidentally hit the night before was now red and swollen for some reason. She had already agreed to go to the Ford family estate later that day, and there was no time to go to the hospital. After a quick look, she applied some medicine casually and headed out.Hunter had never liked going back to the Ford estate with her in the first place. Now that they were planning to divorce, Stella saw even less reason to wait for him.She first picked up the gift she had pre

Stella thought about it for a moment.Although she and Hunter were divorced, the cooling-off period had not yet passed. Strictly speaking, she was still considered part of the Ford family. Hunter’s request was not unreasonable.Besides, Mrs. Ford Sr. had always treated her well. It was only right that she go and pay her respects.Stella did not refuse. “Alright. I’ll be there.”Listening to her gentle, compliant voice, Hunter’s gaze dropped to the documents on his desk. The report Gavin had given him showed that Stella was now living in one of the worst old neighborhoods in the city. The complex itself was rundown, and the living conditions were poor. When he saw that report, Hunter actually laughed in anger. He had his secretary transfer nearly six thousand a month to her as living expenses, yet she chose to move into a place with conditions like that. Was it intentional? Was she trying to win his sympathy, or was she deliberately inviting gossip, letting people whisper behin

Afraid that Gavin might refuse, she pressed her palms together and murmured under her breath, “Please, please.”Gavin sighed helplessly, then nodded. “I’ll take it in. You can go back.”The secretary looked as if she had been granted a pardon. As if afraid Gavin might change his mind, she hurried away in her high heels, practically breaking into a jog.Gavin shook his head with a wry smile and turned back toward the office door. He was just about to knock when he remembered what Hunter had told him not long ago.Hunter had said that all matters related to the Spencer family were to be left entirely to him. After a moment of thought, Gavin decided it was better not to provoke him any further. He lowered his hand, turned around, and left.*At the Spencer estate, Calvin was sitting on the sofa when he received the news that the project investment had gone through. He sprang to his feet in excitement.“Really? The Ford Corporation agreed to invest?“That’s wonderful. Thank you so

Hearing Hunter say that, Gavin felt like he finally understood why Hunter was in such a bad mood.It seemed that Hunter and Stella had fallen out again. But he was used to it by now.Because of how the marriage had come about, Hunter had always carried some resentment and rarely treated Stella kindly. Yet no matter how far Hunter went, Stella never lost her temper. Instead, she quietly swallowed her emotions on her own.So even when the two of them argued badly, by the next day they would return to the same way they interacted before.Their marriage had settled into a strangely delicate balance.Unlike the outside world, which doubted them and predicted their failure, Gavin inexplicably felt that this marriage might actually last. After all, he knew Hunter’s temperament well. If Hunter truly didn’t want this marriage, it would never have lasted this long.“How is the house search for Gwen coming along?”Lost in thought, Gavin suddenly heard Hunter ask.He quickly replied, “We
