PART TWO: CHAPTER TWENTY SEVEN
"Can someone tell me why the fuck I had to take the back route?" Beta Zoey asked from the entrance of the throne room, an angry tone in his voice. As he walked into the large room where others were waiting for him, he continued, "Are we being cowards in our land now? That is pitiful."
"Beta Zoey, you are in the Alpha's presence," Sham spoke solemnly from where he stood. Sham had taken a position very close to the King. In his hands was a small box that contained the King's special dagger. "Show some fucking respect."
"Sham," Zoey called the man with a certain distaste. "I think you are the one that needs to learn respect. All I did was ask a question."
"Well, you are in the presence of the Alpha King. You can quit complaining..." Sham narrowed his eyes and his lips formed a tighter line. "... Beta Zoey."
"That's enough," Alpha King Darren, whose mind had been questioning the sudden appearance of the Vampire Overlord, spoke.

With all her strength, Zaramanni tried to rip off her shirt. If she needed to go naked to get free from the murderous hold, she would do it. She didn’t care. But, while her buttocks felt hotter as she was involuntarily dragged over the tile, the shirt gown refused to tear. Her hands fumbled with the material while her throat began to feel more and more tightened, gagging noises leaving her lips by the second. Her breath was gradually leaving her. That was until she made contact with the person’s wrist. “Argh!” A masculine shriek filled the corridors and sizzling sounds followed. And the grasp disappeared. Quickly, Zaramanni crawled to a distance she considered safe. Heavy breaths escaped her as her hands kept feeling her neck to make sure it was still intact. Then, with her eyes narrowed with slight fear and curiosity, Zara looked ahead and watched her attacker hold his wrist which was now greatly scarred with burns. When Zoey left her room after ensuring her hand was bandaged despite it not hurting, Zaramanni got to know that sleep would not come to her. So, she got off her bed and sneaked past Clarissa who turned her back to her to prepare some heated water.Clarissa was highly apologetic toward Zara when she found out what her mate, rather, ex-mate did. The woman almost ended up in tears when she saw Zara’s reddened palm. While she said Andrea deserved more than a thousand slaps, she thanked Zara for helping her and she apologized for dragging the girl into her mess.Of course, Zaramanni found the apologies unnecessary.All she did was deal with a man-wolf who had no regard for the person he shared a bond with. While low kissing sounds filled the space, distant howls reached Zaramanni and Zoey’s ears.
