Chapter 31
The vampire army had never tasted total defeat before as it did tonight at the hands of the hybrids. It was a humbling defeat to the vampire hierarchy.  Dracula was already back home in his lair when the scattered fragments of his once large army started arriving one after the other. Some had gone home directly, following the shortest route to invade death at the hands of the hybrids. "The hybrids have retreated, they have stopped killing", he said, relieved in his chambers. Dracula's generals were amongst the last to arrive back at his lair. Dracula had told his guards to keep an eye out for the hybrids, just in case they trailed him back home. So far the sign was good and Dracula had stopped hearing death cri

Chapter 32
Katharine, as instructed by Dracula, had called for a meeting with the remaining vampire originals and scouts in the territory.   It was the third vampire hierarchy meeting in 2 days but unlike the previous 2 meetings, this one was a secret meeting, highly confidential and not to be attended by the global vampire hierarchy members. The vampires out of fear for Dracula had to attend this meeting. Only a few came because they had questions that troubled them they needed to ask Dracula. One of such vampires that had questions that troubled her was Helen. She survived the onslaught of the hybrids but many of her friends did not. As the vampires trickled in one after the other into Dracula's court, Dracula secretly went out. He owed someone an appointment before dawn.

Chapter 33
Dracula was now inside the mansion. There were no lights in the house except for that one room where Dracula could see the light was lit up from the outside. Dracula slowly made his way up the dark stairway. Up on the next floor, it was still dark but he could see the light source coming from underneath the closed door of  a room. "Could Ambrosia be in there?", he thought. It was too conspicuous but Dracula still moved towards it.  Everywhere was dead silent as he opened the door knob. The door opened and Dracula walked in. He could see that the room was empty,  Ambrosia was not in it. With his sensitive sense of hearing, he listened for any footsteps within the mansion and outside but there was nothing.

Chapter 34
The history of silas. It was still some few hours before dawn and  the witch had been on the trail of Lucas and his brothers. In the minutes she followed Lucas from behind, she couldn't help but reminisce on the similarities he shared with Silas. FLASH BACK TO 5 YEARS BACK. "Mildred wait!", Silas called out as he chased after her. Mildred was far from him and didn't appear to be slowing down, instead she picked up more speed as she walked faster. "Please hear me out!", he said as he increased his running speed to catch up with her. They had had a big misunderstanding and Mildred had had enough. She heard his call echo through the lonely streets of the night.

The kiss lasted for a while until they both let go. Silas held her hand as they both walked along the poorly lit street. "Can I ask you a question?", Mildred said, looking up admirably at him. "Yes, you can ask me anything", Silas said,  smiling at her. "Okay", Mildred said, smiling back at him before looking away shyly.  "Aren't you risking too much for me, would Dracula ever accept us as a couple?", she asked concerned. "Yes I am risking a lot but I'll gladly take that risk for you". "Dracula is a difficult lord to please but I believe I can win him over. Maybe finally our union may end

Chapter 36
Silas took the long route back to Dracula's lair. His assignment was to spy on the werewolves by means of an insider which was Mildred. He was the most good looking vampire amongst his generals and the one Dracula knew would melt the heart of the witch, but what he did not envisage is Silas falling in love with the witch. "How do I summon the courage to face Dracula with my love for Mildred?", he thought. It was really hard but he had to find a way to let him know. "I have known him for centuries since he first created me as a vampire, he surely knows my character that I can not betray him". "He will be disappointed a bit in me but if I can convince him of the greater picture, of lasting peace between the vampires and werewolves,  maybe then that would change his mind".

Chapter 37
Mildred led Silas to the werewolf's territory. He had never come this close before to her home. On the way to her home there were werewolves everywhere, guarding their territory and keeping off intruders like vampires. But today Silas didn't feel like an intruder, the werewolves let him pass through their territory without batting an eyelid. They had now passed the outskirts of the werewolf's territory and were now on the inside. There were so many werewolves, even Silas couldn't count. He felt like he had walked into a trap but his only comfort was that he knew Mildred was true to her words that he would be safe in the territory of the werewolves. "We have to go see Alpha White first", Mildred said to him, as she led the way to his house. "Okay", Silas said calmly. The were

Mildred led Silas to a nice looking abode where he would now call home. "I'll check on you later in the morning", Mildred said, bidding him good night as she left for her own home. "Okay, see you tomorrow", Silas replied.*** BACK TO THE PRESENT  Lucas and his brothers had walked a long way back to the city. Dawn was now only a few hours away.  As they walked back into the city, Lucas could see the level of destruction the city had suffered. FLASH BACK TO THE PAST It was no longer news in the vampire hierarchy that Silas had betrayed Dracula and had joined forces with his enemies. He was now the most hunted vampire alive. Dracula had placed a bounty on his head for his death, but there was a problem: he was living deep within the werewolves territory, under their care and protection and he had not for once strayed outside of it. 2 years had passed since he abandoned the vampire hierarchy for the witch and the werewolves. 2 long years Dracula had tried to kill him by every means possible but found it difficult to reach him. He was growing weary already.  "I need Silas dead, he has lived for far too long!", Dracula yelled in his court chambers. His remaining 5 generals were with him- Cobra, Katharine, Talon,

Chapter 40
Mildred had now gotten permission to leave with Silas as soon as noon. She wanted to leave before dark because that was when the vampires were mostly going to attack. She knew a large bounty was still on Silas' head even though it had been two years since it was placed. "I have Alpha White's blessing Silas, we can leave!", she said excitedly, as she walked into their quarters.  "That's goodnews Mildred, I know how much this means to you", Silas said. He was weak but was up and moving around in the house. "We don't need too much to move, we need only a few things. This place is still our home and we will come back one day", he said. "Yes we will '', Mil
