~ Nicolette ~I stayed in my family’s house until the next day chatting with my mom about whatever topic we could make out under the sun, in the local grocery store, in a Krispy Kreme shop, in a car wash, and in the house. My dad had to go to work, so it was just the two of us who had some real bonding time.Surprisingly, Lucien hadn’t texted or called me for that amount of time, making me feel relieved. Being the owner of a business empire surely he had more important matters to attend to other than mess with my life.Late in the afternoon I returned to my apartment. As much as I wanted to stay with my family longer, I had responsibilities waiting for me, and one of those was to pack my necessities for my Brazil stay and the expedition. As I expected, Ms. Banks sent me an email about the instructions for our flight via Mr. Andretti’s private jet. Good thing she said she’d be with us during the entire trip. At least I wouldn’t be totally alone with my temporary employer, and that know

~ Nicolette ~The resort hotel we were in was a place of luxury. One could definitely call it a home away from home. The grand building, its interior, the landscaped garden, the palm trees, the pools, and the beach themselves: everything screamed paradise.Yet this hotel was the same as those hotels I had been to in my previous travels. They had this common theme: all too earthly.I knew I shouldn’t think of it, but these hotels couldn’t even be compared to the ice castle in the Kingdom of Crimea. That place was just more than jaw-dropping. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to go back there and have more than a three-day tour. But that was just me and my spontaneous side. I knew full well the consequences of returning to that strange world without Lucien guiding me.It would be a disaster in my life. So I was content to settle on one of Earth’s best: the hotel I was in.After a few questions at the front desk, I went straight to my assigned room. Since it was already dinner time wh

~ Nicolette ~My cheeks heated upon hearing Lucien’s promise. It rang deep into the recesses of my brain, passed through my heart, and straight into my very soul, allowing me time to sink the information in.He really wanted me.I didn’t reply. I just remained silent. But if I did, I would have said a thank you. Thank you because he considered my feelings.I won’t lie. It pricked my heart hearing him say another woman’s name while touching me. The insecurity was real, and it gnawed at me full time. It brought two questions to my mind. Was he in love with her? So much so he had to mention her name? But at the same time, I understood him. If he did love that woman so much, uttering her name was bound to happen. It made me realize that Lucien—yes, despite how rude, crude and cocky he appeared to be—knew how to love.I pressed my forehead against his neck, basking in the scent of him that was all man: virile and dominant. His heartbeat drummed an irregular rhythm like mine. It told me he

~ Lucien ~The beach.Ah, yes, the beach.Zaxonia had one too. Same bluish-green color, same salty taste. Same purpose too: for fishing, boating, and recreation. But I had never loved the beach. Never stepped foot on a boat after what took place nine years ago. Honestly, I didn’t even want to be near its waters, but Nicolette in a bikini sounded promising to look at.Yet here I was now, phone close to my ear, in a telecom meeting to which my presence and inputs were needed. The area I was at happened to be in between a pool and the restaurant Nicolette and her team were in. I didn’t need to worry about Ira catching me. Clyde was with them. He could always call me if that damn Envoy of Foressa was to walk in my direction.Fortunately, I didn’t get any news from the butler. Good. I couldn’t afford any nuisance when I worked. However, I guessed, I spoke too soon.In the middle of my busy discussion, I felt someone’s presence behind me, a female particularly, even before she snaked her ar

~ Lucien ~I didn’t need further words. What Nicolette said was enough. Her invitation was damn...Clear.As crystal.I closed the gap that distanced us and looped my arm around her waist. Wanting to tease her a bit, I didn’t claim her mouth yet. My face just hovered several millimeters away from her.Our warm breaths mixed, turning into that kind of oxygen that sent a good kind of buzz in my head. It was intoxicating.“Lucien,” Nicolette breathed out, clearly impatient. She parted her mouth, pressed her chest against mine, and tiptoed to reach me.I grinned; amusement and pleasure filling my eyes.“Nicolette, are you aching for me?”I watched her lips close and open again, but this time, her tongue darted out to wet her bottom lip.“Yes, I am.”“Metana,” I replied, but remembered she didn’t understand my Zaxonian language so I translated, “Good, because I am certainly going to make you ache even more. Bring you to holiness. Give you the kind of experience no woman here on Earth has e
