Nicolette“Thank you for bringing me home,” I replied, keeping my breathing as steady as I could. Lucien’s warm chest radiated at my back, and his embrace made it difficult for me to move. Not like I wanted to move out of his hold. There was a feeling of contentment finally being with him. The last time I was in this room was the night before our wedding. I made love to him like it was my last time, which it was indeed. My father wanted me to kill him, give the poison on the night of our first marriage consummation—a cliché scenario, might I add. I was bombarded with my guilt for having deceived Lucien on my real intentions, but I soon realized I didn’t want to follow my father’s twisted commands.I had fallen helplessly in love with the King of Zaxonia, and that was enough reason why I wanted to save his life.“Hmm,” Lucien’s low hum from deep within his chest took me out of my thoughts. He nudged his nose at the crook of my neck and then planted little kisses there.I bit the inside

Nicolette“Brother,” my voice creaked, but only because I had exhausted my vocal cords inside Lucien’s bedroom since I arrived in his kingdom and not because of my brother’s unexpected visit.I immediately stood from sitting, my hands curled into a ball on each side. The tent I was currently in was designated for me before the archery tournament, supposed to be my place of peace, to focus on the competition and nothing else.Guess Diana never expected this to happen.Jareth looked as handsome and as honorable a general as he had always been. Nobody would see something amiss in him if they didn’t look closer. But I knew... I already knew he was here not because he wanted a carefree sibling talk, but something else. Something father-related. Or much worse, Ira-related.“Never had I imagined you’d step foot on Zaxonian land. You hated this place,” I opened up, trying not to grind my teeth. He posed a semi-smile, curling one lip upward and then tilted his head up to look at the crest of Z

LucienDaylight hit my lids, urging me to wake, and I did, feeling excited knowing my queen would be next to me, and I would be inside her again soon. However, as I glanced to my right, an empty space welcomed me. Nicolette was gone, and she didn't wake me or tell me where she was heading.I had a suspicion, though, to where. With her unusual actions that morning, I had great belief she was with her brother. Maybe to fix any family issues they had or sort out about their mother's supposed return from the dead.Whatever the reason, I still found it unsettling. Nicolette and I had shortcomings in the past. She wasn't as truthful with me about certain things and, hence, tragedy hit us.With our new life and a second chance at love now, we hoped to rectify our mistakes. Nicolette should have told me more about what her brother said. I wondered why she didn't.Grunting, I stood from the bed and slipped on my robe. I knew already where Prince Jareth stayed in Zaxonia. It wasn't that far fro

AmeenaMy heart leaped at the sight of the man intensely staring at me. The looks of the other men paled in comparison to his. His was burning me alive. Making the wirings in my body overly sensitive. I hadn’t even felt like this with Lord Ira before or ever.Mentally, I told myself I wasn’t here to have a staring contest with a stranger, so I continued the task at hand. Once the drums started, I danced, shimmied my hips, and lifted my chest in a sultry fashion. I did it like a pro. I did it like I rehearsed with the musicians so many times. The people around me gawked. This was exactly the response I wanted from them. But it wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to do something that would portray the very essence of my stay here in Zaxonia. In a subtle way, however. So, eyeing a soldier nearby, I undulated my hips toward him and dipped my head in a way that I was bowing when I came to his front. The soldier was without a clue what I was about to do. He tensed, either because he was too capt

AmeenaBathing was pure temptation. With me all covered in dirt after our first encounter in the clearing, I was right about ready to dive. Why Prince Lucien didn’t place me on the cave’s ground but in his well-valued bed was beyond me, but I somehow thought it was because he was playing a gentleman still. After all, I was their kingdom’s guest and a princess.Once I was sure he was out of the cave, I literally jumped off the bed and dove deep into the magnificent pool. Calmness instantly enveloped me as the liquid touched my skin. They say Zaxonian water held magical properties. I guess they were right because I felt myself rejuvenated immediately, and the soreness of my bottom and back disappeared.I stayed under the water for as long as my breath could hold, and once the need to surface for air was too much, I swam up, took deep breaths, and then glided next to a large, shimmering gray boulder at the edge of the pool. This monolith became my shield should any stray eyes decide to p
